VM 94-96 (1/2023): The 2021 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is a little more "gourmand" on the nose, cohering with time in the glass, loamy, almost peaty aromas emerge with time. The palate is medium-bodied with finely-honed tannins. Lovely symmetry here, with a slight creaminess in texture towards the finish, where it feels very persistent. This is a lovely Charmes-Chambertin that should evolve wonderfully in bottle. Neal Martin.
JM 93-95 (11/2022): A fine red purple colour. A light reduction on the nose. There is quite powerful fruit for the vintage, allied to Cyprien’s refined style, slightly rougher tannins, whether an aspect of Gevrey or fractionally lighter maturity. Precision at the back, a fine intensity of fresh raspberry, and the requisite length. Drink from 2028-2034.
BH 90-92 (1/2023): A more deeply pitched combination offers up notes of plum, wild dark cherry and plenty of earth. The succulent and solidly powerful medium-bodied flavors are more muscular though not nearly as refined, all wrapped in a detailed, dusty and moderately austere finale that isn't quite as well-balanced. Drink 2033+. |

VM 95-979 (1/2023): The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Aux Combottes 1er Cru is very convincing on the nose, a mixture of red and black fruit, forest floor, hints of crushed limestone and orange zest. So much vigour. The palate is medium-bodied with beautifully integrated oak, fine-grain tannins, taut and linear with a sublime, quite persistent finish that you just want to keep drinking again and again. Outstanding. Neal Martin.
JM 91-94 (11/2022): A bright brisk crimson colour. The fruit on the nose has a little more energy, probably a touch riper than Chatelots. Beautifully balanced on the palate where the riper fruit is matched by fine acidity. There is almost a velvet touch to the texture, while the purity remains deeply impressive. Drink from 2026-2033.
BH 90-93 (1/2023): Strikingly pure, airy and distinctly cool aromas include those of essence of red cherry, plum, violet and a whiff of anise character. The beautifully textured and highly sophisticated flavors coat the palate with dry extract on the sneaky long finish. This is a seriously pretty wine though it will need to add depth to merit the upper end of my projected range. Drink 2031+. |

VM 93-95 (1/2023): The 2021 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Ruchots 1er Cru is more introspective at the moment, with fine intensity, the fruit is darker than the Aux Chezaux, with hints of graphite in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, one of the "juiciest" Moreys that I have encountered with candied orange peel and spicebox on the finish. Superb. Neal Martin.
JM 93-95 (11/2022): Quite a dense mid purple. The bouquet is beautiful, correctly ripe fruit with an admirable finesse. There is a swell of dark raspberry fruit then a refined mid palate with slightly fresher red fruit, a little hint of spice and quite a long finish. Scaled down from the beauty of the 2019 but sharing the same exceptional qualities. Drink from 2026-2033. |

This too could use more depth, but everything is in place for it to develop in time. |

VM 90-92 (1/2023): The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Village has an attractive nose with quite generous red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit, hints of violet. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins, tensile and citrus-fresh with an orange peel infused finish. Very fine. (Drink between 2024-2034). Neal Martin.
BH 88-91 (1/2023): A much spicier though less earthy nose features notes of red currant, cherry and a whiff of herbal tea. The racy, intense and nicely detailed middleweight flavors flash a lovely texture before concluding in a youthfully austere finale that could use slightly better depth. Given the apparent aging curve, more complexity should certainly develop if allowed a few years of cellaring. (Drink starting 2029).
WA 88-89 (1/2023): Aromas of red berries, plums and spices introduce the 2021 Vosne-Romanée Village, a medium-bodied, light and perfumed wine that's soft, supple and charming. |

BH 89-91 (1/2023): A more deeply pitched nose offers up its notes of various dark berries, cool earth and a hint of crushed fennel. The rich, delicious and more voluminous medium weight flavors possess notably better depth and persistence if also more evident rusticity. This is a very good Nuits villages and worth considering. (Drink starting 2027). |

Otherwise, there is a slightly more volume to the attractively textured medium weight flavors that possess both lovely delineation and purity, all wrapped in a lingering and mildly austere finale. This energetic effort could use better depth but that should reasonably develop in time.
VM 90-92 (1/2023): The 2021 Morey-Saint-Denis Village shows the stem addition slightly more conspicuously than the Chambolle-Village, white pepper and touches of bay leaf. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins, lightly peppered black fruit with notes of tobacco and dark chocolate towards the finish. This gains complexity in the glass. WA 89-91 (1/2023): Aromas of dark berries, spices, vine smoke, baking chocolate and pine resin introduce the 2021 Morey-Saint-Denis Village, a medium to full-bodied, supple and charming wine that's bright and perfumed, concluding with a rose-inflected finish. |

WA 92-93 (1/2023): The 2021 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru (Domaine Louis Jadot) has turned out very well, exhibiting aromas of sweet cherries, berries, petals and spices, framed by toasty new oak. Medium to full-bodied, ample and layered, it's deep and muscular, with fine balance and a penetrating finish. This cuvée is now harvested in two picks, one week or so apart, instead of all in the same day.
BH 92-94 (4/2023): An unusually perfumed nose reflects notes of red currant, earth and a vague hint of exotic spice. In the same vein as the nose, there is an unusually suave texture to the round and delicious medium-bodied flavors that brim with sappy dry extract that helps to buffer the compact, firm and sneaky long finish. This possesses fine development potential. (Drink starting 2033)

| BH 91-94 (4/2023): A more deeply pitched though still equally fresh nose more grudgingly displays its aromas of spice, violet, dark currant and newly turned earth. There is excellent vibrancy to the more concentrated and muscular larger-scaled flavors that still manage to remain relatively refined thanks to the dense but fine tannins shaping the strikingly long, balanced, compact and quite serious finale. This beauty of a Grèves is potentially outstanding and should age accordingly. |

Including 50% whole bunches, it has an attractive dark berry fruit and subtle briny scents on the nose. Good intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with lithe tannins, a mixture of red and black fruit with a very precise finish enhanced by the stem addition. This is a much more serious wine than the Village Cru. The equally pure, lacy and attractively tension-filled middleweight flavors possess a sophisticated mouthfeel thanks to the fine-grained tannins shaping the punchy and youthfully austere if slightly short finale. This may well better harmonize but at present, it's not quite as well-balanced as the best in the range. (Drink starting 2031). |

WA 91 (1/2024): The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Village is just as perfumed in bottle as it was from barrel, soaring from the glass with scents of wild berries, orange zest, rose petals, peony and spices. Medium to full-bodied, cool and pure, with supple tannins and a saline finish, it's a model of elegance.
BH 89 (1/2024): Elegant and wonderfully pure aromas include those of various red berries, spice and a pretty floral top note. The precise and gorgeously textured middleweight flavors possess a beguiling underlying tension and ample minerality that adds a sense of lift to the cool, restrained and understated finale. This is a lovely Chambolle villages and worth your interest.
VM 87 (1/2024): The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Village has a delicate but appealing bouquet with raspberry and wild strawberry fruit, delicate and transparent. The palate is medium-bodied with a tannic entry. It’s a little sharp, with dark berry fruit and a slightly constricted, Morey-like finish that has some bitterness on the aftertaste. Fine. JM 93-95 (11/2022): 50% whole bunch. A medium deep purple with a lovely perfume, some darker fruit, actually quite sensual. A middling weight of deep sensual fruit then a much livelier finish, some citrus notes, with a finish which is entirely in red fruit. Very persistent indeed. The de Vogüé holding is on the red Bonnes Mares soil with some depth, but the wine is lively and with a white pepper finish. Drink from 2028-2035.
VM 92-94 (1/2023): The 2021 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, their only vineyard on the north side of Chambolle, includes around 50% whole bunches this year. The stems are discretely enmeshed, present, but allow the fruit and terroir to speak. I admire the freshness and joie-de-vivre here. The palate is medium-bodied with finely chiselled tannins, vivid black cherry fruit laced with orange zest/blood orange towards its energetic finish. Bon vin. Neal Martin.
BH 91-94 (1/2023): A much more deeply pitched and more floral-suffused nose speaks mostly of blue berries, anise and a subtle touch of earth. I very much like the seductive mid-palate texture of the vibrant medium weight flavors that display excellent depth and persistence on the youthfully austere bitter pit fruit-inflected finish. This is perhaps on the lighter side in the context of what is typical for Bonnes Mares, but it possess excellent flavor authority and fine length Drink 2033+. |

It has a gorgeous bouquet with brambly red fruit, loam, blood oranges and subtle graphite aromas. Superb delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, fresh citrus like acidity, tensile and focused. This is a very classic, mineral-driven Musigny with surfeit of salinity that gets the saliva flowing on the finish. So bright on the finish. Neal Martin.
JM 95-97 (11/2022): Three tanks were made, in order of picking, then assembled as there is no terroir logic to them, though this has changed for 2022. A fine bright and reasonably deep purple. Classy with just a touch of pepper. Less immediately compelling that some previous vintages, but it is growing steadily in the glass. There is a huge volume of red and black fruit intertwined with a fresh mineral streak running through the middle, supplying excellent length to complete the job. Splendid stuff! A firmer finish but there is plenty of time for that to resolve. Drink from 2030-2040.
