BH 94 (1/2017): (from vines by the Morey border, 50% of which were planted in 1902; 80% whole clusters.) A strikingly complex if highly restrained nose brings together notes of admirably fresh red currant, plum, lavender, rose petal, earth and spice nuances that are also trimmed in just enough wood to notice. There is excellent volume to the big-bodied, intense and muscular yet seductively textured medium weight plus flavors, all wrapped in an overtly powerful and long finish. Plenty of patience will also be required. Drink 2029+.
VM 94 (3/2017): Very good deep, healthy red. The most floral of these 2014s, conveying lovely perfumed lift to the aromas of black fruits, spices and honeysuckle. Communicates wonderful ripeness and detail without any impression of heaviness or weight. Really superb energy here, no doubt partly due to the vinification with 80% whole clusters. Most impressive today on the very long, fine-grained finish, where the savory red fruit and blackberry flavors build slowly and linger long. This should be long-lived. Stephen Tanzer. |

| BH 92-95 (1/2017): (from vines by the Morey border, 50% of which were planted in 1902.) A pungent nose presently consists of wood toast and reduction. Interestingly the massively constituted flavors are even bigger, richer and more powerful and the copious amount of dry extract is seriously impressive and this is just as well as the tannic spine is markedly prominent on the driving and strikingly long finish. This is a brute of wine yet like the Mazoyères it manages to avoid being rustic though with that being said, no one is likely to find this to be particularly refined. A "buy and forget you own it" wine. Drink 2032+. |

VM 97 (11/2018): The 2015 Musigny Grand Les Cru has gorgeous red berry fruit on a complex, engaging nose laced with sous-bois/tertiary scents and just a hint of burnt toast or charcoal with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sublime tannic structure, completely harmonious and symmetrical, fanning out almost nonchalantly toward the finish with wondrous red berry fruit and minerals. Stunning. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. Neal Martin.
JM 97 (10/2018): Fine bright medium deep red purple. The bouquet is reticent at first. On the palate a sensual richness, very good length, fresh finish from the stems, and a gorgeous persistence.
BH 94-96 (1/2017): Here too the nose is reduced and quite toasty and all that can be discerned are background floral hints. Otherwise there is excellent size, weight and punch to the more obviously mineral-driven flavors that possess notably better precision and a much, much finer mouth feel thanks to the super-fine grained tannins while delivering even better depth and length on the impeccably well-balanced finale. I very much like the sense of Zen-like harmony here and this should effortlessly age for decades. This too is a "buy and forget you own it" wine. Drink 2035+. |
