| BH 86-88 (1/2019): The fruit profile is the similar though with much more earth influence that can also be found on the slightly more concentrated if still relatively light flavors that offer a bit more depth and persistence on the mildly rustic finale. This should drink well early. |

WA 89-91 (12/2016): The 2015 Chambolle Musigny la Combe d'Orveaux has a fragrant bouquet with raspberry preserve, wild strawberry and mulberry scents - not the most complex you will come across in Chambolle, but I appreciate the purity of fruit. The palate is well balanced with red cherry and mulberry, gentle and harmonious, an easygoing and self-effacing Chambolle-Musigny that should give drinking pleasure soon after bottling.
VM 88-91 (1/2017): Palish red. Like a pungent salad of red berries on the nose, lifted by a floral topnote. Vibrant pomegranate and cranberry flavors are framed by juicy acidity and complicated by a lightly savory quality. The resounding red-fruit finish is lifted by a note of crushed flowers. BH 87-90 (1/2017): Here the expressive nose is at once more elegant and noticeably fresher with aromas of both red and dark currant, violet and a pretty hint of spice. There is good minerality and much better verve to the delicious appealingly textured medium weight flavors that deliver solid length on the reasonably complex finish. This should be approachable young if desired. (Drink starting 2019). |

BH 88-90 (1/2023): A more elegant, cooler and airier nose speaks of a spicier blend of red currant, wet stone and a hint of herbal tea. The delicious and more consequential flavors possess an almost pungent minerality on the caressing and refined finish where a touch of austerity slowly emerges. This should be reasonably approachable young though I would suggest holding for a few years first in the hopes that more depth will progressively develop. (Drink starting 2026).
VM 86-88 (1/2023): The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny la Combe d'Orveaux has a lovely bouquet with vibrant red fruit, crushed stone and pressed flowers. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly hard tannins on the entry, but this will soften. Steely finish. A bit standoffish at the moment. (Drink between 2024-2032). Neal Martin. |

VM 89-91 (1/2024): The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny la Combe d'Orveaux, the last cuvée to be picked, was very reductive on the nose when I tasted it from vat and will require time to open. The palate is medium-bodied with pastille-like red fruit. Not tannic, nimble and light on its feet, implying that it will be an early-drinking but certainly delicious, fresh Chambolle. (Drink between 2025-2035). Neal Martin.
BH 96-89 (1/2024): A cooler and much airier nose of essence of red cherry, spice and a floral wisp leads to racy and refined medium weight flavors where the sense of refinement contrasts markedly with the short, slightly drying and clipped finale. It's hard to say whether the dryness is just a phase, but it would be fair to describe this as awkward at present. (Drink starting 2028). |

VM 91-94 (1/2017): Good medium red but not as dark as the Vosne villages. Captivating scents of redcurrant, rose petal and tobacco. Ripe and rather powerful for this cuvée, like a coulis of red fruits intensified by penetrating acidity. The tannins are chewy and tactile but not dry, with the finish displaying terrific fruit retention. Stephen Tanzer.
BH 89-91 (1/2017): Moderate wood sets off the markedly spicy aromas of liqueur-like dark pinot fruit, violet and lilac. There is impressive volume to the full-bodied but highly seductive flavors that coat the palate on the toasty and somewhat warm finale. This should also drink well on the younger side if desired. (Drink starting 2022)
WA 91-93 (12/2016): The 2015 Echézeaux Grand Cru, which comes from the lieu-dit of Les Loachausses, has a very expressive bouquet with vibrant red and black fruit, overtly classic in style, perhaps more reserved than previous vintages that I have tasted, yet conveying the terroir in convincing fashion. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red berry fruit, cedar, touches of white pepper with fine structure and tension all the way through to the finish. It needed time to open so I would afford this 3-4 years in bottle. |

BH 91-93 (1/2024): Moderate wood influence can be found on the exuberantly spicy and smoky nose of mostly dark currant and violet scents. There is good energy to the delicious if not especially dense middleweight flavors that conclude in a firm finale that exudes focused power as well as a touch of warmth. (Drink starting 2032).
VM 91-93 (1/2024): The 2022 Echézeaux Les Loachausses Grand Cru (not the easiest lieu-dit to pronounce but is actually a monopole of the Gros family) is the most taciturn on the nose amongst Anne Gros' cuvées. There is a touch of crushed stone that develops in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a lot of sucrosity on the entry. It has fine depth and is quite linear, and maybe it needs to muster a little more complexity and terroir expression on the finish. I'm sure it will. (Drink between 2027-2042). Neal Martin. |

VM 94-96 (1/2024): The 2022 Grands-Echézeaux Grand Cru is the maiden vintage under the Anne Gros label, the parcel having previously been vinified by Bernard Gros (Gros Frère & Soeur) under a fermage. It has a very well-defined bouquet, dark berry fruit intermixed with crushed limestone and wilted rose petals, understated at first and only gradually gaining intensity. The medium-bodied palate has filigree tannins, tensile from the start, with a keen thread of acidity. It fans out wonderfully towards the finish with a saline aftertaste. Precision is the keyword here rather than power. Superb. (Drink between 2028-2052). Neal Martin.
BH 91-94 (1/2024): This is also aromatically attractively airy, pretty and cool with its array of red cherry, raspberry, sandalwood and exotic tea scents. I very much like the seductive texture of the solidly powerful medium weight flavors that display better power and length on the dusty and youthfully austere finale. This could use better depth but more should reasonably develop over time. (Drink starting 2034). |

WA 94-97 (8/2001): The medium to dark ruby-colored 1999 Richebourg has a show-stopping, awesome nose of raspberries, strawberries, roses, red currants, candied cherries, and violets. It is a penetrating, feminine, elegant, and precise, medium to full-bodied wine. While being intensely refined and highly delineated, it sacrifices nothing in power and concentration. This exceptional offering possesses all the components for greatness. Its structure is formed by loads of super-ripe tannin, and its personality is dominated by hugely dense layers of fruit. Projected maturity: 2006-2017.
BH 93 (4/2013): There is still relatively prominent wood framing the dense and wonderfully spicy black pinot fruit and ripe cherry-suffused nose. The big-bodied and solidly well-concentrated flavors display plenty of verve and power along with really lovely complexity on the velvety yet still quite firm finish that delivers Outstanding length. As impressive as this is, and it certainly is impressive, it's not really my style in that the wood is a bit too evident for my taste; that said, this is high-quality effort that is still on the way up and while it could certainly be enjoyed now with pleasure I would advise allowing it another 5 or so years of cellar time first.
