| BH 89-92 (1/2010): (from 3 different parcels, one at the bottom and two at the top but on opposite sides) A beautiful nose combines notes of ripe and pure red berry fruit aromas that are liberally laced with warm earth and oak spice hints that can also be found on the unusually refined broad-shouldered flavors that are rich, delicious and detailed while possessing good mid-palate sap and the structural elements appear to be sufficiently ripe to avoid dryness though there is a touch of tanginess at present that is probably attributable to gas. Drink 2015+. |

| VM 87 (5/2019): The 2011 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has quite a high-toned bouquet, a little feisty compared to recent vintages and maybe with a slight touch of brettanomyces? The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, gamey red fruit with a touch of brown spice and garrigues towards the finish that just needs a little more structure and freshness. | BH 91-94 (1/2016): (from 3 different parcels, one at the bottom and two at the top but on opposite sides.) A gentle application of wood sets off the intensely earthy dark currant and slightly gamy aromas. This resembles the Malconsorts in terms of its robust muscularity on the broad-shouldered flavors that possess excellent punch while delivering a touch of animale character on the youthfully austere and persistent finish. This isn't a wine of finesse but it is impressively scaled and clearly built-to-age. Drink 2026+. |

| VM 92-94 (1/2020): The 2018 Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru comes from Lamarche’s 0.30 hectares of vine. It has a little more horsepower than the Echezeaux, scents of orange peel and a light ash-like aroma infusing the red fruit. Fine definition here, if not profound complexity. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, lithe tannins. This is a sleek and silky smooth Grands Echezeaux with a lovely touch of spice that bursts through on the finish. Give this two to three years in bottle, as it is will be early-drinking for a Grand Cru, though I suspect it will drink well for many years. Neal Martin. |

| BH 91 (4/2008): A mildly herbal-infused and very fresh red berry fruit nose that has touches of both pepper and spice to it merges into precise, pure and notably minerally middle weight flavors that possess reasonably good concentration in the context of the vintage and finish with a tangy punch. Like the '98, this can't play with the best vintages but it's attractive and still has several years of upside remaining. Still, this will be an early drinker by the normal standards of LGR. Drink 2012+. |

WA 93+ (10/2015): Tasted blind at the annual "Burgfest" tasting in Beaune. The 2012 La Grande Rue Grand Cru from Lamarche has a fabulous bouquet that gently unfurls in the glass: fine mineralite and tension, wonderful precision here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tensile tannin, crisp and poised, tightly wound and certainly needing several years to really show its mettle, but a great wine that is both understated yet intense. I'll be cautious now, but I would not be surprised to see this gain more favourable reviews in the future.
BH 93 (1/2015): There is just enough wood to notice framing the red currant, black cherry and plum aromas that also display pretty floral and spice notes. There is fine concentration, power and punch to the refined and classy middle weight flavors that possess excellent intensity on the balanced, mouth coating, velvety and beautifully persistent finish. This too will need at least a decade plus of bottle age. Drink 2027+. |

| WA 97 (9/2016): Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 La Grande Rue Grand Cru has a backward and broody bouquet, very complex with hints of woodland, damp earth and fern filtering through the tightly wound red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple and very fine, almost filigree tannins. The acidity is beautifully judged here -- very focused and refined, seamless towards the sophisticated finish. This is one of the best vintages of La Grand Rue that I have tasted, which is a considerable achievement given that this was not an exemplary growing season. |

| JM 96 (9/2021): A fine clear even crimson colour. The fruit is very fine-bodied, quite ripe, interesting. Gorgeous succulent deep red fruit with a velvet texture, fine clean acidity just short of volatile, long and charming. Balanced throughout, fairly persistent. Grace and harmony, a splendid wine which will go the distance. Much more detail to come out even though open now. |
