Still, everything is in place here to permit this to age well though it's sufficiently forward that it should be a relatively tolerable wait. |

BH 92 (1/2017): (from a .33 ha of 50+ year old vines that abut Cazetiers; 70% stems.) Also deep ruby color. A discreet application of wood frames the spicy, pure, airy and cool nose that features red and black currant, floral, earth and sauvage hints. There is almost painful intensity to the dense, serious and mouth coating flavors that also exhibit an abundance of minerality on the balanced, refined and solidly persistent finish. Textbook Champeaux. Drink 2026+. Outstanding!
VM 92-94 (1/2016): Bright medium ruby Savory aromas of blackberry, bitter chocolate, liquid smoke and animal fur. At once silky and bracing, displaying excellent definition and lift to its flavors of blueberry, blackberry and licorice. Finishes juicy and long, with serious but fine-grained tannins and lively blackberry and violet notes. This really spreads out horizontally to saturate the palate and glistens on the aftertaste. | BH 96 (1/2013): (from .25 ha parcel of 60+ year old vines planted at a density of 14,000/ha in Mazis-Bas - vinified with 100% stems.) This is even more intensely floral with knockout complexity to the distinctly sauvage character of the very ripe and cool black cherry, spiced plum and Gevrey style pungent earth aromas. This is a big and muscular wine of almost forbidding proportions that is shaped by an imposingly firm tannic spine on the marvelously concentrated and explosive finish that seems to go on and on. In fact even when the aftertaste seems to come to an end it suddenly returns and lasts again for an impressive period. In sum, this is flat out stunning and could rival the fantastic 2009 version. Note however that once again, plenty of patience will be required. Drink 2028+. |
