WS 97 (5/2017): An expressive, cherry- and raspberry-flavored red, wrapped in a layer of smoke, vanilla and toasted spice. Intense, with assertive tannins, but the elements come together on the expansive finish. Firm now, gaining suppleness with air and showing excellent potential. Best from 2022 through 2045. 41 cases imported. VM 96 (3/2017): Deep, bright medium red. Knockout nose combines dark raspberry, clove, licorice, white pepper, minerals and earth. Conveys incredible inner-mouth lift considering its thickness of texture and spicy intensity. Really spreads out to saturate the palate. Saline, superconcentrated, pungently mineral wine with a firm tannic spine, integrated acidity and extraordinary rising length and solidity. This is almost painful today. A great Bonnes-Mares: in the end, Mounir Saouma blended his lots from the Chambolle (two-thirds) and Morey (one-third) sides of the cru. Stephen Tanzer. WA 93-95 (4/2016): The 2014 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, a blend of the north and south parts of the vineyard (here blended together) has a plush redcurrant, cranberry and strawberry scented bouquet with fine delineation. The palate is crisp and taut with red cherries and wild strawberry, steely and focused with a touch of white pepper on the long finish. This is one of the best reds from Lucien Le Moine in 2014, not a flamboyant Bonnes-Mares, but correct and blue-blooded. |

| BH 90-92 (4/2013): This also displays some floral character though not quite to the same extent while also offering up notes of spice, earth and red currant aromas. There is a silky mouth feel to the energetic and well-detailed flavors that exhibit a bit less minerality than the Haut Doix before terminating in a seductively textured, firm and persistent finish. Drink 2021+. |

| VM 91-94 (1/2014): Good bright, deep red. Reserved, very pure aromas of purple fruits and sexy oak spices are lifted by pungent minerality. Sappy, pristine and stylish, with a youthful reserve to the intense red fruit and spice flavors. Finishes firmly tannic, sappy and long, with lingering notes of spices and chalk. Lovely finesse here but this will require at least a few years of patience. Stephen Tanzer. |

VM 92-95 (1/2013): (a blend of true Charmes and Mazoyeres): Medium red. Musky, subtle aromas of black cherry, crushed stone and game. Precise and light on its feet, with intense, vibrant cherry and raspberry flavors lifted by sappy minerality and a floral element. Classy, juicy wine with lovely finishing persistence and lift. A superb showing. Stephen Tanzer. BH 91-94 (4/2013): (from both Charmes and Mazoyères.) Reduction masks the nose though there is a really lovely mouth feel to the medium-bodied flavors courtesy of the unusually fine-grained tannins. There is even a lacy quality that is enhanced by the plentiful amounts of palate coating dry extract that also serves to buffer the tannins. So while this will certainly be capable of amply rewarding longer-term aging, this is one of the few among these grands crus that should be approachable young. Dirnk 2023+. |

| VM 94 (3/2016): Dark red; the brightest color of these 2013s. Sexy scents of red and darker berries and dried flowers. Large-scaled, pliant, plush and sweet, with raspberry and cherry fruit complemented by flowers, tobacco and underbrush. This silky, seamless wine expands to fill the olfactories without showing any weightiness. Wonderfully sweet, rich Charmes with outstanding early sex appeal. Finishes with lush tannins and terrific persistence. Stephen Tanzer. |

WA 94-95 (6/2010): Brown spices, blond tobacco, sandalwood, and nutmeg mingle with red raspberry confiture on the nose of the Le Moine 2008 Clos De La Roche. A sweet, saline savor of lobster shell reduction wells up on the palate, reinforced by richness of texture. Fine layers of smoky peat and crushed stone add to the complexity and oscillating finishing dynamic of a wine almost certainly destined for 15-20 years of fascination and delight. VM 92-95 (4/2010): Good full red. Outstanding smoky depth to the wild aromas of game and crushed stone; soil is currently dominating fruit here. Then fat, sweet and savory in the mouth, with an umami-like tex ture and a subtle smokiness that is all about terroir Finishes with Outstanding smoky persistence. This is more Clos de la Roche than pinot noir: I can imagine a wine lover weaned on New World pinot being utterly mystified by this. BH 92-94 (4/2010): Noticeable wood adds nuance to the otherwise fresh, earthy and relatively somber plum and red pinot fruit where notes of anise, underbrush and a hint of animale are also present. The big and well-muscled flavors possess fine concentration and a seductive texture on the brooding and youthfully austere finish that is not only very firmly structured and generously wooded but delivers Outstanding length. This is a powerful wine in the context of the vintage and one that will need plenty of cellar time to be at its best. Don't miss! Drink: 2023+ |

WA 94-97 (5/2011): The 2009 Clos de la Roche is drop-dead gorgeous. It shows remarkable depth and polish in its elegant, impeccable bouquet and harmonious, layered fruit. This is all finesse, all the way. My notes read: extraordinary! Anticipated maturity: 2019-2034. WS 94 (6/2012): This firm, focused red delivers a beam of cherry and raspberry flavors, along with Asian spice and tea leaf accents. Elegant, with pinpoint tannins and a burst of energy on the lingering aftertaste. Builds from beginning to end. Best from 2016 through 2035. 20 cases imported. VM 94 (3/2012): Good bright medium red. Complex, expressive nose offers blackberry, game, flinty minerality, rose petal and smoky oak. Pure silk and soil tones in the mouth, with harmonious ripe acidity contributing to the impression of Outstanding intensity and early sex appeal. The saline, ripely tannic finish displays superb persistence. A classic expression of Clos de la Roche terroir. Stephen Tanzer. BH 93-95 (5/2011): Reduction. The broad-shouldered flavors are bigger, richer and deeper as the underlying material seems to have endless waves of depth on the extremely ripe and mocha-infused finish that delivers simply huge length. To its credit, this well-endowed effort underscores perfectly the difference between a fine Clos St. Denis and a great Clos de la Roche. Patience will also be required here. Drink 2024+. | VM 93+ (3/2014): Good medium red. Initially reduced and stunted on the nose, showing little but oak, but opened with air to reveal scents of strawberry, smoked meat, red licorice, brown spices and tar. Juicy and sharply delineated, with the penetrating, high-pitched red berry and spice flavors really vibrating in the mouth. With some time in the glass, this showed much more fruit than it did from barrel a year ago, along with perfumed notes of rose petal and peppery herbs. Very tangy, complex wine, sweeter and fruitier than the Echezeaux today. Stephen Tanzer. |

| BH 92-94 (4/2014): In much the same vein as the Clos de la Roche I would describe this as relatively elegant as well with its exceptionally pretty and lightly spiced nose of various red berry fruit aromas that enjoy added breadth from the presence of floral, spice and earth scents. There is enough wood influence to notice on the comparatively supple and rounded medium-bodied flavors that tighten up quickly on the firm, balanced, complex and attractively textured finish. WA 92-94 (6/2015): The 2013 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru is one of Mounir's finest wines this year. Sourced from around the famous walled vineyard, it has a cohesive bouquet with straight-laced brambly red berry fruit that are very well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with strict crisp tannin, very good acidity and lovely poise on the sustained finish. If you seek an elegant Clos Vougeot than this will be the ticket. VM 92-94 (1/2015): Medium red. Reticent aromas of raspberry liqueur, violet, licorice and spices. Sappy, spicy and tight, with intense, primary red berry flavors accented by fresh herbs and pepper. This tastes like whole-cluster fermentation but this wine was vinified with only a small percentage of its stems. A very fresh, refined style of Clos-Vougeot. (Drink between 2024-2039). Stephen Tanzer. BH 91-94 (4/2015): This is restrained to the point of being almost mute though aggressive swirling does reveal darker fruit and soft earth aromas. The intense, detailed and overtly powerful flavors possess solid size, punch and concentration before terminating in a lingering and balanced finish that is less youthfully austere and rustic than usual. (Drink starting 2025). |

| VM 93 (3/2017): Slightly dull medium red. The nose offers compelling complexity, with black raspberry and redcurrant aromas complemented by dried flowers, licorice, smoky oak and sweet earth. Plush, broad and seamless, displaying liqueur-like ripeness but also sound acidity to frame its red fruit flavors. Savory herb and earth notes add interest. Finishes sweet and long, with substantial broad, dusty tannins and an element of deep smoky minerality that gave the wine increasing appeal with extended aeration. Stephen Tanzer. |

VM 94-96 (2/2012): The 2010 Clos Saint Denis is all about textural finesse and effortless grace. Layers of sweet perfume emerge from this harmonious, understated Burgundy. White flowers and licorice add dimension and volume on the finely knit finish. Antonio Galloni. BH 93-95 (4/2012): ( from 90+ year old vines.) Mild reduction makes it difficult to say much beyond that the underlying fruit appears ripe. The rich and exceptionally stylish flavors combine finesse with superb authority as there is a real palate impact that is emphasized by the striking intensity. There is a wonderful sense of tension to the mouth coating finish that is shaped by dense but ultra-fine tannins. In a word, magnificent. Drink 2025+. Don't miss! |
