| VM 90-92 (1/2019): The 2017 Beaune Les Boucherottes 1er Cru, matured in around 25% new oak, has a fragrant, pressed-flower-scented bouquet offering ample red berry fruit, hints of Seville orange marmalade and a light vanilla note. The medium-bodied is fresh and vibrant with supple tannin, and the oak is very well integrated toward the fleshy and quite persistent finish. This is one of my favorite wines from Domaine A-F Gros this year and it comes highly recommended. Neal Martin. |

| VM 87-89 (1/2019): The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Village, matured in 40% new oak, has an appealing bouquet of vibrant red fruit, revealing just a touch of meat jus in the background. The palate is smooth on the entry with supple tannin and fine acidity; brown spices surface toward the second half. There is good depth here, although a touch of heat on the back palate mars the finish. I will be cautious for now. Neal Martin. |

| BH 89-91 (4/2020): (from 5 separate lieux-dits.) A cool, pretty and airy nose offers up notes of red pinot fruit cut with lovely floral nuances. The sleek, intense and lightly saline-inflected flavors possess an equally refined texture while exhibiting fine length. This is very Chambollesque and also worth your interest. Drink 2026+. Outstanding! |

BH 91-93 (4/2014): (From a .26 ha parcel of vines planted in 1931 in the climat Champs Traversin, which is occasionally referred to as Le Petit Citeaux.) Here the wood treatment is notably more discreet if not completely imperceptible as it allows the spice melange of red and black pinot fruit, plum, earth and sandalwood hints to be easily appreciated. There is fine volume and density to the velvety, mouth coating and seductively textured flavors that possess so much dry extract on the balanced finish that this could easily be enjoyed now though note well that there is plenty of development potential. This is really quite good. Drink 2022+. WA 89-91 (12/2013): The 2012 Echezeaux Grand Cru comes from 80-year-old vines and it is being raised in 80% new oak. It has a delightful, feminine bouquet with hints of white chocolate infusing the red berry fruit profile. It is a playful, quite joyful nose. The palate is well-balanced with fine tannins and a mixture of red and black fruit on the entry. It gathers weight towards the middle and then just steps off the gas towards the linear finish. It maintains fine balanced and there is an attractive tobacco note on the long aftertaste. Three to five barriques produced this year. |

BH 91-93 (4/2020): (from a .26 ha parcel of vines planted in 1931 in the climat Champs Traversin, which is occasionally referred to as Le Petit Cîteaux; 20% whole clusters.) Admirably discreet wood frames the fresh and notably spicy liqueur-like red berry fruit, earth and discreet floral aromas. The delicious, intense and seductively textured medium weight plus flavors possess more size and weight if a bit less refinement before concluding in a balanced and strikingly long finale that offers just a bit more depth. Drink 2030+. VM 91-93 (1/2020): The 2018 Echezeaux Grand Cru has a broody bouquet with dark berry fruit laced with black tea and touches of leather. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, almost "chunky" tannins. This is not a graceful Echezeaux but there is plenty of substance with a judicious touch of spice on the finish. Fine, but give it time. Neal Martin. Drink 2023-2036. |

| VM 91-93 (1/2019): The 2017 Pommard Les Pezerolles 1er Cru comes from a single parcel of vines. The bouquet is very detailed and finely delineated; scents of rose petals infuse the red berry fruit. The medium-bodied palate offers supple tannin, bright red cherries and crushed strawberry, gaining harmony in the glass and culminating in an elegant, refined finish. Excellent. Neal Martin. |

There is fine concentration to the sleek, delicious and intense middle weight flavors that possess an attractively textured mouthfeel and fine length on the mildly austere and dusty finale. This softly stony effort will need to add depth to achieve the upper end of my projected range. Drink 2026+. |

| BH 91-93 (4/2013): (the Richebourg parcel now totals .6 ha after it was combined with the vines that formerly belonged to Michel Gros, which he agreed to exchange so that he could keep the Vosne 1er Clos de Reas as a monopole of Domaine Michel Gros. The Richebourg vines have been replanted 3 times and they are now 15+, 25+ and 70+ years of age). A spicy, wonderfully fresh and cool nose is comprised of notes of plum, violets, anise, cinnamon, sandalwood and red pinot fruit liqueur scents. There is an opulent mouth feel to the velvety yet distinctly powerful broad-shouldered flavors that possess excellent volume before culminating in a balanced, impressively long and mouth coating finish. As classic examples of Richebourg go, this should drink well somewhat earlier yet will still require the better part of a decade to be enjoyable. Drink 2021+. |

WA 93-95 (12/2013): The 2012 Richebourg Grand Cru comes from the family’s 0.60-hectare parcel whose oldest vines are approaching retirement. It has a very refined, elegant bouquet that is actually more like a Romanee-Saint-Vivant at the moment. There are lovely scents of orange-blossom and quince emerging with time. The palate is well-balanced with a rounded, harmonious entry. It is silky smooth at the moment with a fine thread of acidity. It remains sedate, distant even but very sophisticated and the oak is very well assimilated towards the finish. Excellent. BH 91-94 (4/2014): (The Richebourg parcel now totals .6 ha after it was combined with the vines that formerly belonged to Michel Gros, which he agreed to exchange so that he could keep the Vosne 1er Clos de Reas as a monopole of Domaine Michel Gros. The Richebourg vines have been replanted 3 times and they are now 15+, 25+ and 70+ years of age.) In much the same fashion as the Pezerolles this is presently very toasty and it's enough where the wood pushes the spicy black pinot fruit to the background if not completely hides it. The supple and very round large-scaled flavors possess excellent concentration and an intense minerality on the powerful and moderately austere finish. My predicted range offers the benefit of the doubt in this case because the wood does not alter the texture or sweeten the finish and thus there is a good chance that this will ultimately harmonize. Drink 2024+. |

WA 92-94 (12/2015): The 2014 Richebourg Grand Cru clearly has the best bouquet amongst the A.F. Gros range: wonderful, minerally red berry fruit, dried flowers and just a hint of warm gravel in the background. It gains intensity in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, ripe tannin. The acidity is very well judged and there is a creamy texture lending harmony to this Richebourg. I do think it is the most complex Richebourg I have tasted from the domaine in recent years, but it is one of the most sensual. Give it 8-10 years in bottle so that it can show what it can do. BH 91-93 (4/2016): ( the Richebourg parcel now totals .6 ha after it was combined with the vines that formerly belonged to Michel Gros, which he agreed to exchange so that he could keep the Vosne 1er Clos de Reas as a monopole of Domaine Michel Gros. The Richebourg vines have been replanted 3 times and they are now 15+, 25+ and 70+ years of age.) Once again there is also enough oak influence to notice though not enough to appreciably detract from the high-toned and overtly spicy red currant, violet and plum-suffused nose. There is a lovely minerality to the supple and forward middle weight plus flavors where the mid-palate is almost soft. This is a somewhat curious showing as I like the refinement and impressive length but the depth is at present only average. My range offers the benefit of the doubt that this will revert to its usual level of quality in time. Drink 2026+. |

| BH 92-94 (4/2017): (the Richebourg parcel now totals .6 ha after it was combined with the vines that formerly belonged to Michel Gros, which he agreed to exchange so that he could retain the Vosne 1er Clos de Reas as a monopole. The Richebourg vines have been replanted 3 times and they are now 15+, 25+ and 70+ years of age.) Prominent, but not dominant, oak and menthol characters are present on the ultra-spicy nose of attractively fresh red and dark cherry aromas that are trimmed in tea, sandalwood and hoisin nuances. The bigger, richer and more mineral-driven flavors also coat the palate with sappy dry extract on the overtly powerful and driving finish that goes on and on. This is not a huge version of the appellation but the focus and sense of harmony are certainly admirable. Patience required. Drink 2030+. |
