BH 93-96 (1/2023): Firm reduction renders the nose tough to evaluate though there is both fine freshness and verve to the impressively dense yet well detailed larger-bodied flavors that terminate in a clean, dry and strikingly long finish that is already displaying outstanding depth. This is potentially a knockout as it is seriously good though I underscore that at least moderate patience will be necessary. (Drink starting 2033).
WA 93-95 (1/2023): Cropped at a mere eight hectoliters per hectare after being hit by the April frosts and then challenged by severe disease pressure, the 2021 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has nevertheless turned out beautifully, offering up aromas of tangerine oil, crisp stone fruit, clear honey, white flowers and freshly baked bread. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and textural, with terrific depth at the core, tangy acids and a precise, saline finish, it will only gain with further élevage. |

It has a fragrant bouquet with peach skin, grilled hazelnut and light orange rind scents that gain intensity in the glass. The palate is well balanced with fine weight on the entry. There's plenty of extract here, and a pleasant pithiness comes through toward the finish. This should drink well over the next 20 years. (Drink between 2025-2042). Neal Martin.

VM 88-90 (1/2023): The 2021 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru is much more closed than the Meursault Charmes, and does not quite deliver the terroir expression that I was expecting. The palate is likewise a little simpler and more straightforward than the Charmes. It showcases fine acidity, yet it doesn't quite kick on towards the finish. So-so. (Drink between 2024-2034). WA 92-94 (1/2023): Another strong performer is the 2021 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières (Domaine Louis Jadot), a medium to full-bodied, satiny and chiseled wine redolent of pear, freshly baked bread, Meyer lemon and toasted nuts. With racy acids and a long, saline finish, it's structured and concentrated, produced from low yields.
VM 91-93 (1/2023): The 2021 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru has the most reduction on the nose of the three Premier Crus, and as such, it is difficult to read the terroir. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, again, a little reductive, but there is certainly plenty of concentration here. It will probably require three to four years in bottle, so be patient. (Drink between 2025-2042). Neal Martin.
BH 91-93 (6/2023): Here there is just enough reduction to blur the subtleties of the aromas of white orchard fruit, acacia blossom and discreet wood nuances. The suave and borderline creamy middleweight flavors retain excellent punch while delivering impressively length on the clean, dry and balanced finish. This could use better depth but with a potential aging curve of a decade plus, that should reasonably occur if given a chance. (Drink starting 2031). |

There is outstanding density and volume to the concentrated and powerful medium weight flavors that possess a seductive mouthfeel, all wrapped in a chiseled, stony and sneaky long finale where a pronounced, even bracing, bitter lemon character emerges. I suspect that this citrus pith taste will slowly dissipate with age. In sum, this is excellent with fine aging potential. (Drink starting 2029). |
