VM 88? (7/2024): The 2020 Saint-Aubin Clos de la Chatenière 1er Cru has a slightly nutty, Meursault-like bouquet that needs a little more freshness. It feels a little more mature than a 2020. There is something a bit static about the aromatics. The palate is balanced with a tangy opening, a simple Chardonnay rather than a definable Saint-Aubin. It is fresh and boasts decent length, but it does not leave you beholden. N.B. I find this far superior at the Domaine, hence my lower score. Perhaps the bottle? Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. BH 92 (7/2023): There is just enough reduction to suppress the underlying fruit for the moment with the exception of a whisper of lemon zest. By contrast there is really lovely intensity to the precise, cool and restrained mineral-inflected middleweight flavors that terminate in a racy, clean and emphatically dry finale that displays only a trace of youthful austerity. This chiseled effort is excellent and akin to rolling tiny rocks around the mouth. |

| VM 93 (12/2020): The 2018 Saint-Aubin Derrière Chez Edouard 1er Cru offers scents of granite and wet slate on the nose with hints of quince. Very terroir expressive. The palate is gorgeous, so tensile and extremely poised, seductive touches of apricot jam and repeating quince towards the complex finish. What a fabulous Saint-Aubin. Neal Martin. |

WA 94 (1/2023): Once again, the 2020 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Derrière Chez Edouard contains the young high-density plantings that Lamy deems insufficiently mature to merit inclusion in his Haute Densité cuvée. Offering up aromas of crisp orchard fruit, citrus oil and freshly baked bread, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, its satiny attack segueing into a taut, chalky mid-palate and a long, mineral finish. BH 90 (6/2023): Smoky aromas of green apple, pear and a subtle floral nuance are complemented by succulent, delicious and vibrant middleweight flavors that are sleek if not especially dense, all wrapped in a beautifully textured, focused, stony and lingering finish. In contrast to the Clos des Gravières, this is going to need at least a few years of keeping first as it is less forthcoming at present. (Drink starting 2027). |

| BH 93 (6/2024): Decidedly cool and restrained aromas are comprised by notes of just sliced citrus and green apple along with hints of white flowers and wet stone. The gorgeously textured middleweight flavors are borderline painfully intense before culminating in a sleek, chiseled and dry finale that is noticeably less austere. This relatively powerful effort is very much built-to-age and a wine that will need at least 5 to 6 years of keeping first. Excellent. Drink 2023+. |

VM 92-94 (1/2020): The 2018 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru has a pixelated, mineral-driven bouquet that manages to effortlessly offset the warmth of the growing season. Shucked oyster shell and limestone aromas develop in the glass. The well-balanced palate delivers wonderful harmony and a fine bead of acidity. Almost caressing in texture, with supremely well integrated oak toward the finish. Outstanding. Neal Martin. BH 90-93 (6/2020): An attractively layered and ever-so-slightly exotic nose features notes of citrus, apple and white peach and plenty of floral influences. There is fine richness to the generously proportioned yet sleek medium weight flavors that possess a caressing mouthfeel that continues onto the clean, dry, well-balanced and stony finish. Lovely. Drink 2026+. Outstanding Top Value! |

WA 95 (1/2023): The 2020 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly wafts from the glass with aromas of white flowers, crisp stone fruit, honeycomb, orange oil and freshly baked bread, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping palate that's racy and precise, combining the aromatic expression and textural attack characteristic of its sunny exposition with the tension and cut appropriate to this high-altitude, stony site. BH 92 (6/2023): This is aromatically quite similar to the Chez Edouard but with more prominent citrus influence. There is notably better density to the equally beautifully textured medium-bodied flavors that flash excellent minerality on the solidly powerful, lengthy and impeccably well-balanced finale. Like the Gravières, this should be enjoyable young but have no trouble repaying up to a decade of bottle age. (Drink starting 2028). VM 88 (7/2024): The 2020 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru has a perfumed bouquet with wet pavement and limestone aromas, pinning this as an En Remilly. It just becomes a little diffuse with aeration. The palate is slightly chalky on the entry, has crisp acidity, and may be a little too sharp on the citric finish. I would also prefer more length here. I'm surprised this turned out to be Lamy, but that's blind tasting for you. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. Neal Martin. |

| VM 92-94 (12/2020): The 2019 Saint-Aubin Les Frionnes 1er Cru has a very taut, Puligny-like nose with wet limestone and flinty aromas accompanying the Granny Smith apples. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity, superb salinity with a vibrant, animated finish that feels reassuringly persistent. Pure class. Neal Martin. |

WA 93 (1/2023): The 2020 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Frionnes is one of the more reserved wines in the range, unwinding in the glass with aromas of orange zest, confit citrus, crisp yellow apple and white flowers. It's medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with racy acids and a long, saline finish. Forget it for the better part of a decade in the cellar and reap the rewards, even if it will be approachable sooner. VM 92 (1/2023): The 2020 Saint-Aubin Les Frionnes 1er Cru, a mix of 10- and 80-year-old vines, is elegant on the nose and quite refined. Touches of orchard fruit and white peach and just a hint of marzipan in the background that betrays the warm summer. The palate is well-balanced, very saline, taut and focused. Then, it clams down on the finish and orders you to come back in 3-4 years to see if it's ready for business. (Drink between 2027-2043). Neal Martin. |

St. Aubin 1er Cru Les Murgers des Dents de Chien |

|

WA 95+ (1/2023): The 2020 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Murgers des Dents de Chien is one of the highlights of the range this year. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of pear, crisp green apple, lime, orange oil, nutmeg and bread dough, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and concentrated, with a seamless, complete profile and a long, saline finish. The vines in this parcel, like those in the Clos de la Chatenière, suffer from leaf roll virus, which results in elevated levels of concentration. BH 93 (6/2023): A hint of matchstick character is present on the elegant, ripe and airy aromas of citrus, wet stone, green apple and white floral scents. Once again there is excellent intensity and to the middleweight flavors that possess terrific mid-palate concentration along with the hallmark minerality, all wrapped in a hugely long and surprisingly powerful finish. This is first-rate and very much worthy of your interest. (Drink starting 2030). VM 91+ (7/2024): he 2020 Saint-Aubin Les Murgers des Dents de Chien 1er Cru has a more vigorous bouquet. However, it doesn't quite have the personality of the best wines from the appellation. It initially comes across as a bit generic, though after 15 minutes, some lovely wet limestone/petrichor scents emerge. The palate is well-balanced with an edgy opening, good depth and just the right amount of phenolics. With citrus peel/orange rind towards the finish, this represents a Saint-Aubin that I am intrigued to see mature in bottle. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2024-2036). Neal Martin. |

| VM 88-90 (12/2020): The 2019 Saint-Aubin La Princee is quite reduced on the nose while I taste it. The palate has a saline entry with lime and citrus fruit, good depth with an edgy malic finish that just pulls up a little short. Fine. Neal Martin. |
