BH 96 (6/2022): (one contiguous parcel measuring about .24 ha is spread evenly between Chassagne and Puligny; Boillot calls it his Bâtard du Milieu.) A slightly riper yet still very fresh, cool and pretty with acacia blossom, citrus confit and a beautiful array of spice wisps. There is terrific size, weight and mid-palate density to the big-bodied and powerful flavors that culminate in a lemon, very clean and hugely long finale. This is like a block at present and I wouldn't touch a bottle for the first 7 to 8 years. In a word, excellent. Drink 2032+.
VM 96-98 (1/2021): Mid lemon yellow. There is a slight reduction to the nose. All the weight appears on the palate with a gorgeously sensual deep white fruit, not heavy at all. White pepper. There is no sign of the reduction on the palate. An exceptional example with more tension at the back, great potential for the long term. Guillaume Boillot has dialled down to 50% new wood here and that is plenty. |

| BH 96 (6/2022): (from 60+ year old vines and the vineyard is a whopping 4 ha monopole within Perrières). This is perhaps the most floral-suffused nose in the range with its aromas of essence of pear and plenitude of spice and citrus elements. Once again, the mid-palate mouthfeel of the medium-bodied flavors is absolutely gorgeous, which contrasts noticeably with the cuts-like-a-knife finish that remains ultra-refined, balanced and persistent. This is most impressive, particularly for the remarkably fine volume and power that is delivered with grace and class. Drink 2030+. |

VM 95-97 (12/2021): The 2020 Chevalier-Montrachet La Cabotte Grand Cru, which was undergoing its élevage in foudres, has a very sophisticated bouquet with mineral-rich citrus fruit, hints of hazelnut and lanolin. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity. There is a little more density and concentration compared to the regular Chevalier-Montrachet and though there is a patina of oak to be subsumed, this will surely age with style. Excellent. (Readers should note that no 2021 will be produced due to frost and there will just be a tiny amount of Chevalier-Montrachet.) (Drink between 2025-2050). Neal Martin.
WA 95-97 (1/2022): The 2020 Chevalier-Montrachet La Cabotte Grand Cru is brilliant, bursting with aromas of orange oil, nutmeg, crisp orchard fruit, white flowers and peach. Full-bodied, satiny and concentrated, it's layered and multidimensional, with striking depth and intensity, concluding with a long, resonant finish. It's a brilliant wine in the making. |

BH 92 (6/2023): A much more floral-suffused nose reveals its aromas of apple and pear compote, lemon rind and discreet spice elements. There is better volume and mid-palate density to the delicious and appealingly textured medium-bodied flavors that possess markedly better depth and persistence on the youthfully austere, balanced and nicely dry finale. This is quite promising. (Drink starting 2028).
VM 91 (7/2024): The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Champs Canet 1er Cru is completely shut down on the nose, to the point where I ask myself whether it has any bouquet at all. Rigorous aeration is ensured to no avail. There is some volatility when I return after 15 minutes. The palate is balanced with a smooth entry, quite honeyed in style, though it feels a bit flat on the finish. I suspect this wine would have benefitted from being picked three or four days earlier. That said, it does meliorate in the glass. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2024-2030). Neal Martin.
WA 91 (1/2023): The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Canet opens in the glass with tones of nectarine, peach, white currants, freshly baked bread and pastry cream. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and lively, it's an attractive effort that concludes with a saline finish. |

BH 93 (6/2023): Smoky aromas of citrus, green apple and a bit less floral influence precede the precise and tension-filled medium weight flavors that exude evident minerality on the youthfully austere though wonderfully persistent and solidly complex finale. This lovely if linear and serious effort should amply reward mid to even longer-term keeping. Excellent quality here. (Drink starting 2030).
WA 93 (1/2023): The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Perrières is excellent, mingling aromas of crisp orchard fruit with hints of white flowers, pastry cream and struck match in an inviting mélange, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive palate. Taut and chalky, it's a charming but classically proportioned white Burgundy.
VM 92 (7/2024): The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Perrières 1er Cru has a slightly muted nose at first, though it gently opens with grapefruit, Granny Smith, light granitic and smoke scents. This evolves well in the glass, cohering and gaining delineation. The palate is well-balanced with a slightly honeyed opening that prompts me to wonder if a smidgin of botrytised fruit was in the mix. Still, the acidity maintains tension and feels long on the richer finish. This will be difficult to resist in its youth. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2024-2036). JM 93-95 (6/2021): Lighter lemon yellow, the bouquet offering a light touch of menthol and especially anis. Deeper generous soil here but they think they have learnt to get the best out of it. Certainly a grand cru wealth of fruit, the acidity keeps the balance very nicely, a generous warm overcoat and good length. Nice wine!
BH 92-94 (10/2021): This is restrained to the point of being all but aromatically mute though aggressive swirling eventually coaxes notes of green fruit, citrus peel and oyster shell nuances to reveal themselves. There is both excellent volume and concentration to the big-bodied, powerful and imposing flavors that are focused, structured and youthfully austere. This is very much a work in progress, and I would advise allowing this at least 5 years of cellaring and it should easily reward a decade or more.
VM 92-94 (10/2021): The 2020 Chablis Bougros Grand Cru comes from six hectares of vines, southwest- and south-facing, forming the two different cuvées. The bouquet unfolds to offer lovely yellow fruit and oyster leaf aromas, well defined and quite generous. The palate is taut and crisp with fine acidity and moderate depth, but very pretty and composed toward the saline finish. There is plenty of substance already in situ and I foresee this aging with class. Neal Martin. |

WA 94 (7/2022): Bursting from the glass with aromas of vine blossom, orange zest, crisp white peach and honeycomb, the 2020 Chablis Grand Cru Vaudésir is medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, with a seamless, elegantly fleshy profile and lively balancing acids. As is often the case, it's one of the more demonstrative grand cru bottlings in the range, yet its track record for longevity is impressive.
BH 93 (9/2022): A discreet dollop of wood sets off the ever-so-mildly exotic aromas of white and yellow peach, passion fruit and subtle mineral reduction wisps. There is a positively gorgeous texture to the highly refined middleweight flavors that culminate in lightly stony, focused and sneaky long finish. This could use a bit more depth though overall, it is a classic Vaudésir of lace and grace that should generously reward a decade or so of cellaring. |

JM 92 (12/2021): Bottled end November. Mid yellow in colour, but fresh. There is an impressive weight of fruit for this hillside vineyard. Significant volume of fresh fruit, tinged with its usual lime blossom character, and good crisp finish with just the right acidity. Plenty of flesh nonetheless. Nice finale on fresh apple fruit.
BH 90 (6/2022): A cool, pure and restrained nose reflects airy and elegant notes of acacia, green apple, anise and a whiff of citrus rind. There is a beguiling sense of underlying tension to the detailed and mineral-inflected flavors that culminate in an attractively dry, clean and lingering finale. This is fine Meursault villages with the innate finesse of Tillets on display. Drink 2026+. Outstanding Top Value!
VM 90 (12/2021): The 2020 Meursault Les Tillets has a light white flower and linen scented nose, quite Zen-like at first but gaining intensity with aeration. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, fresh and vibrant with a touch of spice on the finish. Very fine, though maybe it just needs a little more mineralité. Neal Martin. |

JM 93 (12/2021): Bottled late November. Fine pale primrose. The bouquet is notably more backward. I am waiting a moment and then the sense of volume emerges. Significant volume here, a thick but not lush texture, enormous energy, this will need a couple more years in bottle than any of the others.
BH 92 (6/2022): ( from a .62 ha combination of Au Murger de Monthélie and Les Casse-Têtes.) A more floral-suffused nose features very bright and fresh aromas of Granny Smith apples, essence of pear and a variety of citrus influences. There is again excellent volume and richness along with even more apparent minerality on the complex and beautifully persistent finale that flashes focused power. This too offers first-rate quality for a villages-level wine. Drink 2027+. Outstanding Top Value!
VM 91+ (12/2021): The 2020 Meursault Cuvée Tête de Murger has a well-defined nose, although I was expecting a little more presence and energy compared to previous vintages that I have tasted over the years. The palate is well balanced and shows more gumption, fine acidity with a touch of ginger, well-defined with red apple, nectarine and orange pith on the finish. VM 93-95 (12/2021): The 2020 Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru is crisp and precise on the nose, just as mineral-driven as the Charmes though there is a little more flintiness here. The palate has exquisite balance and poise, citrus peel and lime, very good weight towards the finish with hazelnut and fumé notes on the long and (again) spicy finish. Excellent. Neal Martin.
BH 92-94 (6/2022): While compositionally similar to the Charmes, this is notably spicier while offering a hint of exotic tea as well. The pure, energetic and strikingly textured middle weight flavors brim with both minerality and dry extract on the balanced, youthfully austere and stony finale. This impressively persistent and very stylish effort is a wine of finesse and it too should amply reward mid to perhaps even longer-term cellaring. Drink 2028+. |

VM 88? (7/2024): The 2020 Saint-Aubin Clos de la Chatenière 1er Cru has a slightly nutty, Meursault-like bouquet that needs a little more freshness. It feels a little more mature than a 2020. There is something a bit static about the aromatics. The palate is balanced with a tangy opening, a simple Chardonnay rather than a definable Saint-Aubin. It is fresh and boasts decent length, but it does not leave you beholden. N.B. I find this far superior at the Domaine, hence my lower score. Perhaps the bottle? Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
BH 92 (7/2023): There is just enough reduction to suppress the underlying fruit for the moment with the exception of a whisper of lemon zest. By contrast there is really lovely intensity to the precise, cool and restrained mineral-inflected middleweight flavors that terminate in a racy, clean and emphatically dry finale that displays only a trace of youthful austerity. This chiseled effort is excellent and akin to rolling tiny rocks around the mouth. |

VM 96 (1/2023): The 2020 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is more backward on the nose compared to the Bienvenue at the moment despite rigorous coaxing. The palate has impressive weight and density, perhaps less finesse than the more approachable Bienvenue at the moment but with more aging potential. It feels long on the saline finish, but it's surly at this early stage.Neal Martin.
JM 96-98 (5/2022): Mid lemon yellow. The bouquet also takes time to emerge, then shows a little more power than the Bienvenues. The oak is a fraction more present but still superbly integrated. The taffeta texture could not possibly have more tensile strength, with an exemplary purity of fruit. To have so much power (not in an alcoholic sense) and yet so much grape. Little light fresh apple notes to finish.
BH 95-97 (6/2022): A wonderfully floral-suffused nose reflects additional notes of petrol, citrus, white orchard and a hint of oak toast. The bigger and richer flavors also possess a gorgeous mouthfeel that is almost delicate yet racy with excellent delineation on the youthfully austere and beautifully balanced finish that just goes on and on. This is potentially a magnificent Bâtard and it's going to be interesting to compare this with the Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet in a decade's or so time. In sum, I would offer the same advice - if you can find it, buy it. Drink 2032+. |

BH 92 (6/2022): Here too there is just enough post-bottling reduction to overshadow what appears to be ripe fruit. On the palate there is good size, weight and volume to the succulent, indeed almost plump, middle weight plus flavors that also exude a lovely bead of minerality on the sappy and youthfully austere finale. This is definitely relatively forward for a young CC and a wine that should be reasonably approachable earlier than usual. (Drink starting 2026).
VM 91 (7/2024): The 2020 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a slightly disjointed bouquet, not as well knit as its peers, with touches of beeswax, lavender oil and rosemary. The palate is well-balanced. It's a "nimble" Grand Cru, thanks to the silver bead of acidity. There's more tension here due to what feels like a lower pH, lemon curd and subtle Indian spices surfacing towards its composed finish. Perhaps it could do with a little more length, but otherwise, it has brightness and vivacity. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2026-2043). Neal Martin. |

BH 95 (9/2022): A more reserved nose grudgingly reveals its aromas of mineral reduction, essence of green apple, lemon-lime and a variety of Chablis elements that include iodine, tidal pool and quinine along with moderate wood. There is excellent volume to the intense, detailed and tautly muscular flavors that display superb length on the balanced, youthfully austere and dry finale. This powerful and compact effort is flat out terrific and while it can't match the refinement of the Montée de Tonnerre, it is just as complete. If you can find it, buy it. Drink 2032+.
JM 95 (6/2022): Pale colour I instantly fall in love with this nose. An explosion of fresh white peaches on the nose, really gorgeous, with a massive concentration without heat or being clumsy. What else to say? |

| BH 95 (9/2022): A more elegant and ultra-cool nose reveals its combination of floral, citrus zest, iodine and that briny sea water character the best examples of Chablis all seem to possess, all of which is trimmed in moderate but not invasive wood. There isn't quite the same volume on the palate as the Butteaux, but the middleweight flavors are notably more refined before terminating in a driving, chiseled and citrusy bone-dry finale. I very much like the focused power of the finish and this classy effort should also amply reward extended cellaring. Drink 2032+. |

| JM 96-98 (10/2021): Mid lemon yellow. This has the weight which should have. The nose does indeed speak of Montrachet with a measured opulence. The weight on the palate transcends those which have gone before, there is a grip from the barrel and a little toast (a new Chassin barrel and one year old François Frères). Very long and relatively fine finish. Extremely good. |
