| VM 94 (1/2025): The 2021 Cornas Chaillot outperforms the rustic 2020 I tasted on the same occasion. Ripe black fruit, graphite, cedar, stemmy facets and peppery nuances are all amplified in the glass. Intense and expressive, the medium- to full-bodied 2021 is a gorgeous Chaillot, packing a stunning energetic lift on the mid-palate. Checking out with timeless elegance on the refined finish, the 2021 is a showstopper. (Drink between 2027-2036). Josh Raynolds. |

| VM 95 (1/2025): Pronounced blood orange, black cherry jam, blackcurrant, dried violet, pencil shaving and cedar notes introduce the 2021 Cornas Reynard. Stemmy funk adds more complexity to the mix. Hitting the full-bodied palate with sweet fruit notes, the 2021 is an utterly refreshing Reynard from Thierry Allemand, unmistakably showcasing its pedigree and class. Bundling remarkable energy on the mid-palate, the 2021 ends with stunning length on the detailed finish. (Drink between 2028-2038). Josh Raynolds. |

JD 94 (7/2024): While a bottle of the 2021 Hermitage was slightly off during my tasting with Liz, I pulled a bottle from my cellar for the report. Showing consistently from when I tasted it on release at the estate, the 2021 is a classy Hermitage that's as good as anything in the vintage, offering solid ripeness in its red and black fruits as well as peppery herb, sappy flower, leather, and gamey aromas and flavors. Cut from the same cloth as the 2014, it's medium-bodied, has a soft, supple mouthfeel, moderate tannins, and beautiful overall balance. It's going to be on a faster evolutionary track and, I suspect, will hit the early stages of its prime drinking wine in another 4-5 years and keep for two decades. (Drink between 2028-2049). VM 94 (3/2024): The refined 2021 L'Hermitage was cropped at 37 hL/ha and bottled in early September 2023. It is laced with finely delineated orange rind, raspberry, red cherry, red plum, dried herbs, pencil shavings, black cherry, crushed violet and cedar. Showing excellent tension on the medium-bodied palate, the 2021 brings it home with clarity and freshness. That being said, it won’t be as long lived as either the 2020 or 2022. (Drink between 2026-2043). Nicolas Greinacher. |

VM 91 (3/2024): Using roughly 10% whole-clusters during fermentation, the 2021 Saint-Joseph offers a red-fruited profile paired with earthy gradations and leafy undertones. Medium-bodied and well balanced by bright acidity, the seamlessly sculpted 2021 comes with absolutely no hard edges and concludes with a clean finish. Chave bottled the 2021 slightly earlier than usual in order to help maintain its freshness. Nicolas Greinacher. JD 92 (3/2024): The 2021s here are certainly strong wines in the vintage. The 2021 Saint Joseph is a healthy dense ruby/purple hue and offers textbook Saint Joseph aromas and flavors of black fruit (there's a hint of red fruit as well), graphite, ground pepper, and some meaty, bloody nuances. Medium-bodied, it has beautiful tannins, plenty of mid-palate depth, and outstanding length. It's one of the rare 2021s that really needs a few years of bottle age. Due to the devastating frost, no Clos Florentin will be produced in 2021. |

| JD 93-95 (11/2022): While production was down 40% due to the frost, Vincent was able to make a beautiful 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape that readers will love to have in the cellar. All about finesse and elegance, it reveals a classic Clos des Papes nose of both red and black fruits as well as tons of floral, pepper, and spicy notes. These carry to a medium-bodied 2021 that has good ripeness (the alcohol is 15%), a supple, silky mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It's not far off the style of the 2020, and while it doesn't have the density of a top vintage, it nevertheless has balance, complexity, and elegance, and will have 15+ years of longevity. |

Decanter 92 (9/2022): Sparky herbal notes on the nose, with thyme and rosemary. There’s some roundness on the palate thanks in part down to the oak, which isn't overly dominating. Good presence on the palate thanks to the firm tannins, and a fairly long finish. A good option in 2021. 60-year-old vines, all destemmed, 15% new oak. JD 90-92 (12/2022): The 2021 Saint Joseph L'Olivaie is rock-solid, offering pretty darker cherry and fresh fig-like notes as well as spice, game, and flowery incense nuances. This medium-bodied, supple, nicely balanced, and textured effort has outstanding potential and will certainly drink nicely right out of the gate. |

| |
JD 91-93 (12/2022): The 2021 Saint Joseph Silice is also beautiful, with a round, supple, layered style that shines in the vintage. Black raspberries, spice box, dried flowers, and hints of violets give way to a medium-bodied, up-front, charming, layered 2021 that certainly stands out in the vintage. Decanter 91 (9/2022): Neat, well-balanced and fresh, with sappy acidity. It's a relatively light St-Joseph, as is common for the vintage, but they've found a good balance and reflected the vintage as well as it could be. Gently herbal streak and a touch of juniper. |

| |
| Decanter 94 (10/2022): A riper and oakier expression than La Germine, it's certainly more generous but with a good sense of purity. It’s rounded from the oak but not dried out, with good acidity and harmony. It has exceptionally fine tannins, too. This is a success this year. No Coteaux de Tupin made this year as the stems weren't ripe enough. 100% Syrah from gneiss, blonde soils. Made using 20% whole bunch, followed by 20 months in barrel, 40% new oak. Some very old vines, up to 100 years old. |

Turns sweeter on the long, smoky finish, which features well-knit tannins and lingering floral and exotic spice notes. Josh Raynolds. |

Decanter 92 (10/2022): Extremely spicy and herbal nose, with some reduction, but this will hopefully be dealt with during élevage. Dried peels, burnt herbs. Medium-bodied and dry, with burgeoning complexity. Herbal-led, the fruit is in the background. Should be complex in time, but will always be lean and quite austere. (Drink between 2025-2029) JD 90-92 (10/2023): Not yet bottled, the 2021 Gigondas has beautiful red fruits, cedary herbs, sandalwood, and Provençal spice notes in a medium-bodied, elegant, finesse-driven package. This cuvée is never the biggest or richest wine in the vintage, but it always shines for its complexity and elegance, and it ages beautifully. |

|
| |
| JD 91-93+ (10/2023): Slightly deeper hued, the 2021 Gigondas Cuvée Florence has a terrific nose of darker berries, sandalwood, white chocolate, and pepper. It's a concentrated, medium-bodied, balanced 2021 offering solid mid-palate depth, ripe tannins, and outstanding length. Based on Grenache and Syrah that sees an extended élevage in barrels, it should benefit from just a year or two of bottle age and have a solid decade of prime drinking. |

| JD 88 (5/2024): The 2021 Collines Rhodaniennes Syrah Valine has a perfumed, exotic nose of red plums, candied violets, and cedary, peppery spice. JD 91 (3/2024): The 2021 Côte Rôtie Amethyste comes from a blend of the Côte Brune, Le Mollard, Lancement (since 2019), Le Truchet, and Fongeant, with some younger vintages from Chavaroche. Mostly destemmed, it has a beautiful array of black raspberry fruits as well as some spring flower, pepper, and iron-like nuances. It's medium-bodied, has solid mid-palate depth, and fine tannins, and it's clearly an outstanding wine. Give it just a few years and enjoy over the following 10-12. VM 89 (1/2025): The 2021 Côte-Rôtie Améthyste is fairly reductive at this showing. Time in the glass fleshes out rustic touches, cured meat, white pepper, red plum and black cherry aromatics. Touching the medium-bodied palate with moderate flavor concentration, the elegant 2021 outperforms the 2022. A savory, fleshy finish wraps it up. (Drink between 2027-2032). Nicolas Greinacher. |

JD 93 (3/2024): Coming all from the mica-schists of the Chavaroche lieu-dit and not destemmed, the 2021 Côte Rôtie La Chavaroche (Peroline in Europe) spent two years in 20% new demi-muids. This gorgeous wine is a clear success, offering complex black raspberry, iron, bacon fat, violets, and lavender-like aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, concentrated, layered, and elegant, it’s an incredibly classy Côte Rôtie. VM 92 (1/2025): Taut and peppery, the 2021 Côte-Rôtie La Chavaroche / La Péroline shows well. Stemminess, graphite, rose petal and a zesty slice of grapefruit add more complexity in the glass. Built around ripe and firm tannins, the medium-bodied 2021 dances on the palate with lifting freshness and ample delicacy. There’s a lovely cool vintage austerity going on here. Allow it three more years in bottle to fully come together. (Drink between 2028-2036). Nicolas Greinacher. |

JD 92 (3/2024): The 2021 Côte Rôtie Les Journaries (Maestria in Europe) comes from La Landonne, Côte Rozier, and Côte Blonde and was partially destemmed and brought up in 20% demi-muids. It brings more iron and black pepper, with a core of bright plum and black cherry fruits, medium body, ripe tannins, and nicely integrated acidity. It's not massively concentrated, but I love its overall balance, and it has a good sense of freshness and outstanding length. VM 83 (1/2025): The 2021 Côte-Rôtie Les Journaries / Maestria is a little too rustic for my taste. Barnyard elements and leather are front and center, accompanied by black plum and a touch of cedar. Balanced by fresh acidity, the moderately concentrated 2021 is built around astringent tannins, taking away the elegance. (Drink between 2025-2028). Nicolas Greinacher. |

| JD 93 (3/2024): The 2021 Côte Rôtie La Landonne is a solid step up and has a medium-bodied, fresh, focused style as well as textbook La Landonne notes of smoky black fruits, ground pepper, and some meaty notes, as well as a beautiful rose petal-like character in the background. It's balanced and has fine tannins and outstanding length. Give bottles just 2-3 years and enjoy over the following decade. I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see it evolve for longer, but I also don't see a need to delay gratification. (Drink between 2026-2037). |

This cuvée comes from a mix of terroirs and will spend 14 months in used barrels. |
