BH 91 (10/2024): Moderate though also easily detectible wood is present on the nose of iodine, white flowers and a hint of oyster shell. The markedly finer middleweight flavors exude evident minerality that adds a sense of lift to the balanced, nicely dry and impressively long finish that displays the natural class of a fine MdT. As with many of these 2022s, it could use more depth but the style is lovely and understated. Drink starting 2030. VM 89 (8/2024): The 2022 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru has a fresh nose with grass clippings and Granny Smiths on the nose - a traditional Chablis nose that is well-defined and quite complex. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry, taut and fresh, although I would have liked more mineralité on the finish. Almost there… but not quite! Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis. Drink between 2025-2033. Neal Martin. |

| VM 93-95 (9/2016): (50% new oak): Deep, musky aromas of very ripe stone fruits and clove. Silky-sweet in the mouth, showing sexy leesy notes of hazelnut and smoke and excellent salty extract but less obvious oakiness than the Criots and the Bienvenue. This powerful yet suave Batard finishes smooth and vibrant, with a repeating note of clove and terrific saline persistence. |

| BH 96 (6/2022): (one contiguous parcel measuring about .24 ha is spread evenly between Chassagne and Puligny; Boillot calls it his Bâtard du Milieu.) A slightly riper yet still very fresh, cool and pretty with acacia blossom, citrus confit and a beautiful array of spice wisps. There is terrific size, weight and mid-palate density to the big-bodied and powerful flavors that culminate in a lemon, very clean and hugely long finale. This is like a block at present and I wouldn't touch a bottle for the first 7 to 8 years. In a word, excellent. Drink 2032+. |

BH 93 (6/2020): Naturally exotic and overtly spicy aromas include whiffs of jasmine tea, lemongrass and apple compote. The wonderfully refined and subtly stony middle weight flavors are at once intense yet delicate, all wrapped in a Zen-like finish. This is really lovely stuff and so well-balanced it should age effortlessly. Drink 2028+. Sweet Spot Outstanding! WA 93 (1/2020): The 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières reveals aromas of crisp green orchard fruit, peach, spring blossom, honeycomb and praline, followed by a medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated palate that's chalky and structured, built around lively acids and appreciable dry extract. |

| BH 93 (6/2021): A beautifully complex, naturally exotic and broad-ranging nose is comprised by notes of Orange pekoe tea, spice Granny Smith apples and a plethora of floral nuances. The beautifully precise mineral-driven flavors also possess really lovely underlying tension before concluding in a bitter lemon inflected and youthfully austere finale. This chiseled effort should also easily reward a decade or more of cellaring. Drink 2029+. |

BH 90 (6/2025): An exuberantly floral-suffused nose speaks of the essence of pear, apple and just sliced lemon. This mouthfeel of the middle weight flavors is really quite sleek with fine delineation and a subtle minerality adding a sense of lift to the youthfully austere finale. This lovely and balanced effort could use better depth so plan on at least a few years of bottle aging. (Drink starting 2029). VM 87-89 (2/2025): Boillot’s 2023 Puligny-Montrachet is a fairly straightforward, easygoing wine. Floral top notes, spice and a touch of tropical fruit open nicely. All this needs is a bit more depth in the mid-palate, something that seems missing here but is evident in many other wines, including the village Meursault. (Drink between 2025-2029). Antonio Galloni. |

BH 94 (6/2013): (from 60+ year old vines and the vineyard is a whopping 4 ha monopole within Perrières.) A very mild hint of reduction reduces the expressiveness of the otherwise cool and pure floral, citrus rind, stone and soft spice notes. There is plenty of volume to the rich, intense and mouth coating middle weight flavors that exude a fine minerality on the gorgeously complex, strikingly well-delineated and bone dry finish. This saline-infused and clearly built-to-age effort is spectacular. Drink 2021+. Don't miss! Outstanding! VM 93-95 (9/2012): (4.5 g/l acidity with a pH of 3.09, according to Boillot): Bright pale yellow. Subtly complex aromas of stone fruits, wild herbs, coffee, flowers and saline minerality. Creamy, classy and suave, with captivating flavors of caramel and beurre sale lifted by a brisk citrus element. Wonderfully dense, dry and uncompromising wine with superb lift and a very long, mounting finish. WA 93-95 (8/2012): The 2011 Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Mouchere is one of the most understated of the Puligny premier crus. At first rather closed, the Clos de la Mouchere blossoms as soon as intense, saline notes hit the mid-palate. Here, too, there is considerable energy in the glass, but in a much less obvious style than the Pucelles. Anticipated maturity: 2014+. |

WA 94+ (10/2015): Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Mouchère has a captivating, mineral-driven, sea-spray-tinged bouquet that is complex and compelling. The palate is very well balanced with finely tuned acidity, harmonious and poised, though a Puligny-Montrachet that is only just beginning to show what it can do. Cellar this for four to six years and see what comes out the other side, as it could merit an even higher evaluation then. VM 94 (9/2014): Outstanding lift to the aromas of lime and crushed stone. Silky, smooth and magically light on its feet, displaying Outstanding energy and cut to its lemon, lime and spicy oak flavors. This tastes like it's from another vintage than the Combettes. The bracing, extremely long finish hints at huge dry extract without coming across as phenolic or dry. The crop level here was just 25 hectoliters per hectare, according to Boillot. BH 93 (6/2014): (from 60+ year old vines and the vineyard is a whopping 4 ha monopole within Perrières.) The nose is markedly reduced and I would strongly suggest decanting this if you're tempted to try a bottle young. The intensely mineral-driven middle weight plus flavors possess Outstanding mid-palate concentration with an abundance of palate coating dry extract, all wrapped in a wonderfully vibrant and highly persistent finish. I very much like the balance as this is a big yet stylish effort that should amply repay medium-term cellaring. Drink 2019+. |

BH 96 (6/2018): ( from 60+ year old vines and the vineyard is a whopping 4 ha monopole within Perrières.) A highly restrained nose requires considerable swirling to liberate the beautifully well-layered aromas of mineral reduction, white rose, spice, citrus and a wisp of exotic tea. Like the Pucelles there is excellent richness and detail and much more minerality-suffusing the almost painfully intense finale that is breathtaking in its persistence. This is a gem of a Puligny 1er and in 2016 is a lovely blend of power and finesse. In sum, this is a knockout. Drink 2028+. Don't miss! Outstanding! VM 93-95 (9/2017): (13.3% alcohol with 4.5 grams per liter acidity; cropped at 38 hectoliters per hectare, from vines up to 80 years of age): Bright light-medium yellow. Utterly pure scents of stone fruits, apricot, nuts and honeysuckle. Rich, deep, silky and moderately saline but also powerful and backward, displaying terrific precision and purity in the mouth. A superb, classic Clos de la Mouchère: utterly plush and seamless without being heavy or over the top. Boillot noted that he will slowly replant these very old vines in a series of tranches over the next 15 to 25 years. Stephen Tanzer. |

There is excellent volume and minerality to the strikingly textured medium-bodied flavors that display outstanding complexity on the balanced, dry and impressively persistent finish. This is one very classy wine that is already wonderfully harmonious. Drink 2028+. Don't miss! Outstanding! This is perhaps the most floral-suffused nose in the range with its aromas of essence of pear and plenitude of spice and citrus elements. Once again, the mid-palate mouthfeel of the medium-bodied flavors is absolutely gorgeous, which contrasts noticeably with the cuts-like-a-knife finish that remains ultra-refined, balanced and persistent. This is most impressive, particularly for the remarkably fine volume and power that is delivered with grace and class. Drink 2030+. |

VM 93-95 (1/2024): The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Mouchère 1er Cru is one of the most shut down of the whites in this vast range. Mineral and savory notes abound, but fruit is decidedly pushed into the background. Citrus confit, crushed rocks, mint and white pepper all race across the palate. There's quite a bit of youthful austerity at this stage, but this should come together in time. A whole range of complex floral and tropical nuances linger. Neal Martin. |

BH 93 (6/2013): A cool and pure nose features notes of citrus peel, pear, apple, wet stone and white peach. There is a lovely sense of refinement and underlying tension to the medium-bodied flavors that also coat the mouth with plenty of dry extract before culminating a saline mineral-driven finish. This is terrific. Drink 2018+. Sweet Spot Outstanding! VM 91-93 (9/2012): Bright, medium yellow-green. Quite closed on the nose, hinting at white peach, acacia flower and lichee. Dry, saline and very youthful, with complex flavors of white peach, stone, menthol and noble herbs given definition and lift by firm acidity. Long and primary on the aftertaste. WA 90-92 (8/2012): The 2011 Puligny-Montrachet Les Perrieres is rich, sweet and densely layered. It possesses a floral, honeyed expression of fruit that is highly attractive. Juicy peaches and apricots flesh out on the radiant, generous finish. Anticipated maturity: 2014+. |

BH 94 (6/2024): Cool aromas of mostly white flowers and apple are trimmed in an almost pungent minerality, indeed this too is like sniffing wet rocks. The precise and intensely stony middleweight flavors possess a refined mouthfeel that carries over to the precise, youthfully austere and tightly wound finale. This balanced effort is seriously good but also a wine that is going to require extended patience. This is absolutely a wine to look for. Dirnk 2032+. Outstanding! VM 92-94 (1/2024): The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Perrières 1er Cru is a heady explosive wine endowed with tremendous depth and textural intensity. Crushed rocks, mint, graphite, tangerine oil and insistent saline notes all meld together as this potent, driving Puligny makes its presence felt. BH 91 (6/2014): White orchard fruit and the hallmark honeysuckle scents give way to punchy and impressively concentrated medium-bodied flavors that possess a highly refined mouth feel if not the sheer depth of the Clos de la Mouchère. To be sure this is a lovely wine that could aptly be described as notably bigger and more powerful than is typical for Pucelles. Drink 2018+. Outstanding! VM 92-95 (10/2013): Green-tinged medium yellow. Ripe stone fruits, pear, honey and hazelnut on the inviting nose and palate. Fat, rich and chewy; this extract-rich wine boasts terrific solidity and depth of fruit. Finishes with Outstanding force and length. Has the palate presence of a grand cru. (Incidentally, there's no Folatieres in 2012; Boillot only made his domain bottlings from Puligny-Montrachet.) |

WA 94 (1/2020): Boillot's 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles reveals aromas of orange oil, white flowers and peaches, complemented by classy top notes of nutmeg and warm bread. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and vibrant, with quite a tensile, tight-knit core for this typically enveloping premier cru. But looking back through my notes, that often seems to be the case chez Boillot. BH 92 (6/2020): Here too there is a touch of residual SO2 that may require decanting so that the elegant aromas of honeysuckle, acacia, lilac and poached pear aromas can be appreciated. There is a bit more volume if not quite the same minerality and precision to the beautifully textured flavors that are quite seductive before concluding in a delicious if mildly sweet and warm finish. This is lovely but doesn't possess the class and distinction of the Perrières or Clos de la Mouchère. Drink 2026+. Outstanding! |

BH 95 (6/2013): (one contiguous parcel measuring about .24 ha is spread evenly between Chassagne and Puligny.) There is just enough reduction present to suppress the nose though it seems reasonably clear that it is both ripe and clean. There is superb size, weight and mid-palate density to the mouth coating big-bodied flavors that ooze dry extract that does a fine job of buffering the firm acid spine on the very dry, even saline-infused finish. While I would call this a wine of finesse in the same vein as the Bienvenues, it is relatively fine in the context of the appellation. Either way, this delivers Outstanding quality though be aware that it's going to need plenty of cellar time. Drink 2021+. Don't miss! WA 94-96 (8/2012): Although obviously still an infant, the 2011 Batard- Montrachet is a wine of tremendous potential. There is gorgeous depth and richness in the fruit, but the minerality and sheer tension of the wine are only apparent on the finish. When I taste the Batard I think of a wine where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The 2011 is harmonious and flat-out gorgeous. Anticipated maturity: 2014+. VM 92-95 (9/2012): Very ripe aromas of apricot, peach and clove. Fat and very ripe but youthfully backward and not yet showing the complexity of the Bienvenue. Dry, rich and hard to taste today but stands out for its volume, richness and long, smoky aftertaste. Boillot's recently purchased Batard vines are right on the Puligny/Chassagne border. |

WA 94-96 (8/2012): The 2011 Bienvenues-Batard-Montrachet is built on a fabric of exquisite textural finesse and elegance. The Bienvenues is a bit less overt in its bouquet than the Criots, but richer, deeper and more seamless in its fruit. Here, too, it is the wine’s sheer pedigree that stands out most. Anticipated maturity: 2014+. BH 94 (6/2013): This is also notably ripe but the aromas do not run to the exotic as the honeysuckle, apricot, white peach and subtle spice notes are entirely classic. There is an appealing succulence to the delicious, intense and strikingly fine medium-bodied flavors and while there is certainly a sense of focused power present on the long, clean and refined finish, this is essentially a Bienvenues of finesse. Drink 2021+. Don't miss! VM 92-95 (9/2012): Bright yellow. Vibrant nose combines smoke, honey and sexy minerality. More concentrated and sweet than the Criots but with the verve--not to mention the saline density--of Boillot's Pucelles. Lovely creamy old-viney texture and length. The minerally finish leaves the taste buds quivering. |

The gorgeously textured large-scaled flavors possess outstanding cut and minerality that contrasts with the exceptionally dry, austere and massively long finish. This strikingly pure effort is packed with potential but note well that it's not likely to be a wine that permits early accessibility. BH 95 (6/2017): (100% from Aloxe fruit in Le Charlemagne.) A cooler if slightly less complex nose offers up smoky aromas of green apple, white fruit and, once again, plenty of citrus elements. The powerful and dense flavors are blessed with so much dry extract that there is a borderline chewy texture; indeed this is almost tannic and it's clear that in contrast to so many 2015 whites, this is going to require extended cellaring. In short, this is a great Corton-Charlemagne.Drink 2027+. Don't miss! VM 93-95 (9/2016): Full yellow. Smoky minerality dominates the nose. Fat and sweet on entry, then juicy and penetrating but not austere in the middle, with the wine's thickness leavened by smoky silex minerality. A wine of Outstanding density and solidity, this grand cru really scrapes the palate clean on the chewy, very long back end. This one will need extended cellaring. Stephen Tanzer. |

BH 96 (6/2018): (100% from Aloxe fruit in Le Charlemagne.) A distinctly smoky nose combines notes of mineral-reduction with those of green apples, lavender and spice. The super-intense and well-muscled flavors seem to be built on a firm base of minerality before culminating in an explosively long finish. Note well that like the Montrachet, this presently taciturn effort is very clearly built-to-age and is going to require a minimum of 7 to 8 years of cellaring first and reward far longer. Drink 2031+. VM 93-96 (9/2017): (75% new oak; 4.4 grams per liter acidity; from vines in Aloxe, which Boillot picked last in 2016 before starting on Pinot Noir): Bright light-medium yellow. Subtly complex, musky aromas of peach, caraway seed, nutmeg, mace and hazelnutty lees. At once densely packed and penetrating, with a stony citric pungency giving precision to the seamless middle palate and cutting through the wine's texture. Wonderfully pure and energetic for this cuvee, finishing tactile and unflagging, with terrific citrus lift. This has the palate-staining length and structure for a slow and graceful evolution in bottle; it's also the only 2016 here that struck me as tannic, but then classic Corton-Charlemagne typically shows structure more like a red wine. Stephen Tanzer. |

BH 94 (6/2020): ( from both Pernand and Aloxe.) A ripe, cool and equally restrained nose offers up notes of green apple, floral, an array of citrus and, like the Chevalier, plenty of mineral reduction. There is excellent power and volume to the delicious yet entirely serious broad-shouldered flavors that possess both terrific cut and minerality, all wrapped in a clean, dry and youthfully austere finale. This isn't quite as dense or powerful as the Montrachet but even so, there is much to admire and note well that this too should age exceptionally well. Drink 2033+. WA 95 (1/2020): The most youthfully reserved wine in the cellar was the 2018 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, a promising bottling that opens up to reveal scents of citrus zest, dried white flowers, green apple and pastry cream. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, with racy acids and prodigious levels of searingly chalky dry extract that lend this wine incredible structure. |

Finishes very broad and a bit youthfully phenolic. A fruit bomb of a Criots, from south-facing vines. Stephen Tanzer. |

BH 94 (6/2017): There is a whisper of the exotic to the riper aromas that also possess admirable purity if noticeably less elegance. The succulent, powerful and dense big-bodied flavors once again coat the palate with sappy dry extract on the balanced and harmonious finale. While this isn't an elegant wine per se (Criots rarely is), it is more refined than it usually is. Drink 2025+. Don't miss! VM 91-94 (9/2016): (two-thirds new oak): Bright yellow. BH 93 (6/2020): Once again there is a discreet whiff of exotic fruit to the white peach, spiced tea and dried yellow fruit aromas where a background hint of viognier creeps in. The caressing and unusually sleek medium-bodied flavors possess fine volume and focused power on the caressing and refreshingly saline-inflected finish. This is particularly good in the context of a very hot and dry vintage which is not usually especially propitious for Criots. Drink 2028+. WA 94 (1/2020): Aromas of orange oil, honeycomb, ripe pears, wheat toast and paraffin wax introduce the 2018 Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, a full-bodied, ample and textural wine that's fleshy and enveloping but underpinned by an impressively chalky structure that brings unusual tension and grip to this inherently generous terroir. |

BH 96 (6/2015): (from Puligny fruit in 2012 whereas prior vintages have been from Chassagne). An almost mute nose is comprised of highly complex aromas of citrus, pear, petrol, tea, green apple and floral characters. The full-bodied, dense and overtly muscular flavors are deep, dense and impressively scaled while displaying terrific power on the gorgeously long finish. In particular I like the palate staining dry extract, which should permit this to age well for at least a decade and more probably 12 to 15 years. Drink 2025+. Don't miss! VM 93-95 (10/2014): Pale, bright yellow. Vibrant aromas of orange zest, lime leaf, linden flower and crushed rock. Dense, thick and utterly seamless, but a bit heavier and less refined than the Chevalier-Montrachet. This big boy displays Outstanding depth of fruit and a slightly exotic soft citrus character. Incidentally, this wine is carrying a moderate 13% alcohol. Boillot has long maintained that alcohol is inversely proportional to energy, and that a white Burgundy at 14% is unlikely to have real vigor. WA 93-95 (12/2014): The 2013 Montrachet Grand Cru has a complex bouquet: subtle grilled walnut notes tincturing the mineral scents. It is reticent at first, but unfolds nicely in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with good weight, nicely judged acidity, plenty of mineral notes, although the finish is just a little conservative. Still, there is a pleasant saline note lingering on the aftertaste. Give this several years in bottle - it just needs to develop more "charm." |

BH 97 (6/2020): As good as the Chevalier is, and it's really good, this is arguably the most complex wine in the range with its mix of highly restrained and super-complex white orchard fruit, acacia blossom, citrus, spice, soft oak and jasmine tea aromas. The wonderfully seductive yet beautifully sleek large-scaled flavors bathe the palate in sappy dry extract while delivering superb length on the focused, powerful and beautifully well-balanced finish. This is a magnificent mineral-driven Montrachet and one of the best wines of the 2018 vintage. A genuine 'wow' wine. Drink 2033+. WA 97 (1/2020): The 2018 Montrachet Grand Cru is brilliant, unfurling in the glass with scents of ripe oranges, fresh pear, peach, buttered citrus, warm pastry and anise. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, textural and enveloping, with superb depth at the core, lively acids and an ineffable sense of completeness, concluding with a long and mineral finish. |

BH 89 (6/2024): A vague whiff of the exotic lurks in the background in the form of orange peel, pear compote and a hint of wet stone reduction. There is both excellent volume and density to the delicious middleweight flavors that exude evident minerality on the balanced, clean and dry finale. This lovely effort could use better depth but the underlying material suggests that should be no problem if given a few years in a cool cellar. Drink 2029+. Outstanding! VM 90-92 (1/2024): The 2022 Meursault is a rich, opulent white. Lemon confit, marzipan, spice and crushed rocks are all amplified. Clean mineral notes extend the finish while also providing a counterpoint to all the textural richness. The Meursault is a blend of parcels (including En Luraule, Petits Charrons, Casse-Têtes, Les Pelles), all estate, high up on the slope. The 25% new oak is nicely judged. Neal Martin. |

BH 91 (6/2015): This is only slightly more complex aromatically than the straight Meursault with its nose of pear, various floral elements and gun flint hints. By contrast there is markedly more size, weight and power to the delicious, intense and mouth coating middle weight lus flavors that terminate in an impressively long finish that displays a hint of mandarin orange. This is not especially refined but I like both the balance and the style. Drink 2020+. Outstanding! VM 89-91 (10/2014): (around 50% new oak): Bright pale yellow. Ripe yellow fruits and almond on the slightly exotic nose. Fat, broad and full, with lovely fine-grained texture to the stone fruit and smoky oak flavors. Finishes dry, classic and long, with a lingering smoky quality. WA 89-91 (12/2014): The 2013 Meursault les Poruzots sees 40% new wood. It has a precision and detail on the nose that handles the new oak in its stride, candied orange peel emerging with aeration. The palate is well balanced, with a keen line of acidity, harmonious, with hints of pralines developing toward the finish. This is a Meursault with a bit of nascent chutzpah. |

| BH 92 (6/2021): There is a trace of matchstick character to the green fruit and compote-like white orchard fruit aromas. This needs more depth but as examples of Poruzots generally go, it is really quite sophisticated. Drink 2027+. |

BH 93 (6/2013): (from a parcel of <.33 ha) A beautifully complex and well-layered nose offers up aromas of ripe yellow orchard fruit, wood spice and herbal tea. There is an attractively textured feel to the opulent, concentrated and clearly very ripe medium weight plus flavors that possess good energy on the naturally sweet and mouth coating finish. This is lovely and the depth of material suggests that it should amply reward mid-term keeping. Drink 2018+. Sweet Spot Outstanding! WA 92-94 (8/2012): The 2011 Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes is weightless, gracious and impeccable. Soft, floral notes dominate, giving the wine much of its understated, polished personality. A bright, caressing finish rounds things out nicely in this open, approachable Puligny. Anticipated maturity: 2014+. VM 90+ (9/2013): Pale yellow-green. Cool aromas of lemon, lime, menthol and coriander. Solidly built but a bit youthfully angular, with brisk acidity giving a firm edge to the saline lemon and lime flavors. This very dry white Burgundy showed a somewhat silkier texture with 24 hours in the recorked bottle. Needs time. |

BH 92 (6/2020): (from a parcel of <.33 ha,). There is a discreet whiff of exotic fruit character to the white peach, apricot, petrol and acacia blossom aromas. The rich and solidly voluminous medium-bodied flavors possess very good mid-palate density, all wrapped in a clean, dry and refined finish that is sufficiently firm to reward at least a decade of cellaring. This could use a bit more overall depth, but it should have no trouble developing more with time in bottle. Drink 2028+. Outstanding! WA 93 (1/2020): The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes offers up aromas of orange oil, waxy citrus rind, fresh pear and white flowers, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping palate that's supple and succulent, underpinned by lively acids and concluding with chalky grip. As usual, this was the first parcel Boillot harvested in 2018. |

BH 95 (6/2024): An ethereal nose shyly presents its combination of the essence of pear, anise, pretty floral and a touch of mineral reduction. There is a wonderfully refined texture to the almost delicate medium weight flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the bright, strikingly long and impeccably well-balanced finale. This is class in a glass and another one to strongly consider. Drink 2030+. Outstanding! VM 92-94 (1/2024): The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes 1er Cru shows the more unctuous side of the village. Apricot, butter, spice and tropical notes all race out of the glass. The Combettes will be enjoyed most by readers who appreciate the more extroverted side of white Burgundy. This fruit came in on August 25 and was the first parcel harvested that year. Neal Martin. |

BH 93 (6/2024): Here too there is a subtle whiff of the exotic on the aromas of petrol, spice and a variety of floral elements. There is a lovely sense of underlying tension to the solidly concentrated and mineral driven flavors that feel alive on the palate before concluding in a bracing, balanced and bitter lemon-inflected finish. This is also lovely and worth considering plus it should drink well on the younger side if desired. Drink 2029+. Sweet Spot Outstanding! Value Value! VM 92-94 (1/2024): The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru is bright, tense and nicely focused. Lemon peel, mint, crushed rocks and white pepper lend notable energy to this wonderfully vibrant, sculpted Puligny. All the elements are so well balanced. Saline notes emerge in the glass, supporting the beautifully persistent finish nicely. This is so attractive. Neal Martin. |

VM 95 (10/2020): The 2015 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is a powerful, dense wine. It possesses tremendous richness and tons of intensity. Radiance and phenolic intensity are two of the signatures. That's about all I can tell you, as the 2015 is nowhere near ready to drink. It does have tremendous potential though, that is clear. (Drink between 2025-2035). Antonio Galloni. BH 93 (9/2023): This is exceptionally fresh in the context of the ripe 2015 vintage and a wine that is maturing nicely with its evidently cool aromas of white peach, passion fruit and citrus confit where a hint of secondary fruit lurks in the background. The relatively sleek and solidly concentrated middle weight plus flavors possess both fine volume and richness while exhibiting first-rate length on the stony, mildly austere, lemony and agreeably dry finale. This is clearly still on the way up and while it could easily be enjoyed now, I would hold in the hopes of obtaining more overall depth. Tasted twice in the last year with consistent results (and no premox). (Drink starting 2025). WA 93 (4/2018): The 2015 Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru from Bonneau du Martray reveals a youthful nose of citrus zest, white flowers, tart pineapple and struck flint, framed by some spicy new oak. On the palate, this full-bodied wine reveals tension and definition that it seemed to miss in barrel, its glossy attack now backed by a nicely chalky structure and a deep, properly reserved core. This will need some time in the bottle to integrate, but its evolution is very promising, and while this is unusually rich and concentrated those qualities don't come at the expense of terroir. |

VM 93 (11/2022): The 2018 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a reductive nose but there is some fine fruit here, touches of orange pith, honeysuckle and melted candle wax. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, a hint of wood to be subsumed on the entry, impressive depth with a slightly toasty finish. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting. (Drink between 2024-2035.) Neal Martin. BH 93 (9/2023): A ripe yet attractively fresh, cool, pure and elegant nose combines notes of various white fleshed fruit scents that in particular include Granny Smith and pear, along with hints of citrus and wet stone. There is excellent intensity as well as fine richness to the detailed and mineral-driven flavors where the minerality adds a sense of lift to the complex and sneaky long finale. While indisputably young, it's not so backward that it couldn't be approached now even though a few more years of keeping should help to add better depth. (Drink starting 2026.) |

BH 95 (6/2023): An airy, cool and layered nose features notes of green apple, white flowers and discreet hints of mineral reduction and wood. The almost painfully intense, sleek and tension-filled flavors display beautiful cut and minerality while delivering superb length on the chiseled, linear and austere finale. This is an old school CC that is rich and ripe yet it cuts-like-a-knife. Impressive. WA 97 (6/2023): As I wrote earlier this year, Bonneau du Martray's 2020 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru unwinds in the glass with aromas of crisp Anjou pear, peach and nectarine mingled with white flowers, clear honey, nutmeg, mint and fresh bread. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, it's bright and concentrated, with terrific depth at the core and a long, saline finish. Seamless, intense and complete, this elegant, precise white Burgundy is built for the cellar. VM 93 (1/2023): The 2020 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru was bottled in May 2022. It has a light bouquet at first, gaining intensity with time, scents of beeswax, chalk and touches of Mirabelle. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Quite tensile, backward and fine salinity. There is a pleasant residual spiciness here that comes through on the finish. The remainder of barrel maturation will lend more depth and weight and it will benefit from 3-5 years in bottle. Neal Martin. |

BH 93-96 (1/2023): Firm reduction renders the nose tough to evaluate though there is both fine freshness and verve to the impressively dense yet well detailed larger-bodied flavors that terminate in a clean, dry and strikingly long finish that is already displaying outstanding depth. This is potentially a knockout as it is seriously good though I underscore that at least moderate patience will be necessary. (Drink starting 2033). WA 93-95 (1/2023): Cropped at a mere eight hectoliters per hectare after being hit by the April frosts and then challenged by severe disease pressure, the 2021 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has nevertheless turned out beautifully, offering up aromas of tangerine oil, crisp stone fruit, clear honey, white flowers and freshly baked bread. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and textural, with terrific depth at the core, tangy acids and a precise, saline finish, it will only gain with further élevage. |

| VM 95 (7/2024): The 2020 Montrachet Grand Cru has a creamy nose with touches of white chocolate, almond and chamomile. However, considering the vineyard in question, I would have liked more mineralité and terroir expression. A bit of alcoholic warmth develops in the glass. The palate is well-balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Tightly coiled citrus fruit, orange zest and patisserie, though it doesn't fully deliver the tour de force finish you want from a "Monty". Let's see what a few years in bottle will do. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. Drink between 2028-2052. |

| VM 92-94 (12/2020): A blend of two parcels, the 2019 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru was the first to be picked by Bouchard in this appellation. The well-defined bouquet features touches of lemon thyme, walnut and smoke. The palate is balanced with fine acidity, fresh and focused. The pretty, apricot-tinged finish fans out wonderfully and leaves residues of grilled almond and sesame on the aftertaste. Excellent. Neal Martin. |

VM 92-94 (11/2021): Fine lemon and lime colour, with a detailed elegant bouquet and a sense of class all the way through to a slightly richer bouquet. The Bouchard 2020 Genevrières certainly has the detail, with a mix of white fruits, a little apple and also some citrus. A fine Genevrières for the medium term. BH 91-93 (6/2022): A ripe and naturally exotic nose features notes of Asian-style tea, anise, white peach and a whiff of fennel. The relatively generously proportioned medium weight flavors exude a subtle bead of minerality on the very dry and youthfully austere finish that also possesses a touch of bitter citrus character. Lovely juice and this is really quite classy. Drink 2028+. |

| WA 93+ (4/2018): The 2015 Batard Montrachet Grand Cru wafts from the glass with a dramatic bouquet of peach, tangerine, iodine, beeswax and white flowers. On the palate, the wine is textural, broad and powerful, with chewy extract, imposing density and good grip on the succulent finish. This is a full-bodied, authoritative Bâtard which needs a bit of time in the cellar. |

| WA 97 (10/2017): Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting the 2014 Chevalier Montrachet Clos des Chevaliers Grand Cru has a very tensile, mineral-driven bouquet, not powerful but supremely well delineated with a touch of blackcurrant leaf developing with time. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry, real tension and structure here, with disarming salinity on the persistent finish that fans out in true grand cru fashion. Bravo Monsieur Chartron, this is a flat-out brilliant Clos des Chevaliers. |

| BH 95-97 (1/2020): The 2018 Chevalier-Montrachet Clos de Chevaliers Grand Cru has a wonderful, engaging bouquet with yellow flowers, jasmine and flinty aromas; subtle praline aromas surface with aeration. You could nose this all day! The well-balanced palate displays fine poise and focus, offering veins of white peach intermixed with white chocolate and almond before the citrus core takes hold of the steering wheel on the finish. This is a multifaceted Chevalier-Montrachet that should give many years of drinking pleasure. Six barrels produced. Neal Martin. |

VM 93 (12/2020): The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru has a very mineral driven bouquet, fresh but sharing some of the Zen-like characteristic that I discerned on the 2019. The palate is taut and fresh with a fine bead of acidity. Very harmonious, poised with a superb saline "tang" that pops up on the finish. Still, it needs a few years to cohere in bottle but it will be worth the wait. Needs cellaring. (Drink between 2024-2040). Neal Martin. WA 92 (1/2021): The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Folatières reveals aromas of citrus oil, yellow orchard fruit, blanched almonds and fresh pastry. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and fleshy, this is the tightest-knit wine in the range, holding the most in reserve—even in this forward, demonstrative vintage. I consider that a good sign, and would pick this as Chavy's finest 2018 premier cru. |

BH 97 (11/2021): (with thanks to Dr. Michael Chen and Hal Borthwick). Cool, reserved and incredibly pure green apple, citrus, floral and white pear notes blend seamlessly into concentrated mineral-driven flavors that deliver the hallmark delineation, power and breathtaking persistence of a classically styled Corton-Charlemagne where the only possible reproach is a hint of warmth. This monument is extremely impressive and destined for a long life, indeed it has only just entered the front end of its prime drinkability. Consistent notes, indeed I've never had a poor bottle; note that my scores have ranged from 95 to 97 points. WA 94-95 (12/2001): The toasted oak-scented 2000 Corton-Charlemagne has the austerity found in many of this vineyard's wines in the 2000 vintage. However, it is vinous, rich, and broad. Pure flavors of minerals, toast, and spices can be found in its highly delineated, profound offering. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2015. VM 94+ (10/2002): Oak-influenced aromas of grilled nuts, vanilla and nutmeg. Dense and voluptuous; as ripe as the Perrieres but less expressive today despite its extraordinary texture. Solid and chewy wine with an almost tannic finish. More explosive today on the aftertaste than it is in the middle palate. This may well prove to be a more complete wine than the 2001 example. |

VM 98 (9/2016): Readers lucky enough to own the 2009 Corton-Charlemagne will have a hard time keeping their hands off this beauty. The warm vintage has softened some of the contours, resulting in a Charlemagne that is surprisingly accessible at a young age. All the Coche signatures are present, the edges are a bit rounded, which results in a wine of frankly extra-terrestrial beauty. Smoke, slate and crushed rocks are some of the notes that lend nuance to the expressive, silky fruit. The 2009 somehow manages to be radiant and crystalline. This is about as great as wine gets. (Drink between 2019-2029). Antonio Galloni. BH 96 (6/2012): Here the nose resembles that of the Genevrières with its mildly exotic fruit aromas that combine with rose petal, citrus, wet stone and apple scents. This is a big wine, indeed the word massive does not exaggerate the palate impact of the almost breathtakingly concentrated and powerful flavors that, despite all of the size, weight and dry extract, avoid any trace of heaviness on the extraordinarily long finish that is also borderline painfully intense. There is a very mild touch of warmth but this is a minor nit in what is a genuinely remarkable effort that should age gracefully for years. (Drink starting 2021). WA 96 (4/2018): The 2009 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is fabulous, soaring from the glass with a youthful bouquet of preserved citrus, vanilla pod, pastry cream, subtle white truffle and toasted sesame. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and layered, with a textural attack, deep core, excellent concentration and succulent acids. The length on the finish is extraordinary. While this is the highest in alcohol of the vintages in this tasting (2009-1999), it's better integrated than in the 2006 or 2003 vintages, both of which seem warmer—which Jean-François Coche suggests is because wine made from clean grapes hides its alcohol better than wine made from botrytized grapes. Raphaël Coche adds that 2009 was a year defined by "sun and juice," as vines set a large crop and ripened it in balmy conditions without suffering from any stress. |

Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru |
$5,400 |

|
| |
BH 96 (3/2023): A discreet if perceptible application of wood sets off still youthful and wonderfully fresh elegant, ripe and beautifully layered and aromas of mandarin orange, peach, white flowers, apple, anise and mineral reduction. There is excellent concentration, especially for the vintage, to the broad-shouldered and moderately powerful flavors that possess a caressing mouth feel on the mid-palate yet the hugely long and pungently stony finish. The '11 Coche CC is stunningly good and still clearly on the way up though not so much so that it couldn't be enjoyed now if given 30 minutes or so of air. In sum, this is one of the wines of the 2011 vintage. VM 96 (12/2020): Two vintages of Coche Dury’s Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru follow. Neither 2011 nor 2003 is especially highly regarded, but it is precisely vintages like these that can be so instructive because they tell us so much about what talented growers can achieve in challenging years. The 2011 Charlemagne needs several hours of air to open, which is not surprising, as it has always been a stubborn wine. I remember that Jean-François Coche hesitated to show the Charlemagne when I stopped by to taste the bottled 2011s, as he felt the long malos had resulted in a wine that needs more time in bottle to fully come together. Now, at nearly age ten, the 2011 remains quite vibrant and nervy, with striking citrus, floral and mineral notes laced into a racy frame. All it needs is a bit more flesh, but it’s the sort of flesh that develops with more time in bottle. Antonio Galloni. |

BH 93 (6/2024): Restrained and distinctly cool aromas include a plethora of floral nuances that add elegance to the white orchard fruit, citrus and soft hazelnut wisps. The incredibly low yields are in evidence as the mouthfeel of the medium-bodied flavors is almost thick yet the bright citrus-tinged acid spine keeps everything in focus on the strikingly long, bone-dry and markedly austere finale. This is a superb Meursault villages and very much built-to-age, indeed it's absolutely going to need it. WA 92 (1/2024): Aromas of crisp orchard fruit, white flowers, hazelnuts and clear honey introduce Coche's 2021 Meursault Village, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive wine with a pretty core of fruit girdled by tangy acids and chalky extract, concluding with a long, palate staining finish. VM 89 (1/2024): The 2021 Meursault Village, this vintage a blend of all their vineyard holdings because the yield was so small (for example, just two barrels from half a hectare in Narvaux), has a taut and delineated bouquet with crushed stone infusing the malic aromas. The palate is well-balanced with a twist of lemon on the entry, segueing into more orange rind notes towards the finish. Moderate length. Enjoy this over the next decade. Neal Martin. |

| BH 87 (6/2020): A fresh and ripe nose combines notes of apple, pear and a pretty floral whiff. There is good vibrancy and very good density as well to the delicious flavors that conclude in a citrus-tinged finish that is refreshing and sneaky long. This is quite good for what it is and worth checking out, especially as an all-around house white. |

| BH 91-93 (6/2020): (the proportions have changed again and in 2018 are in a 35/65% proportion from Les Languettes in Aloxe and En Charlemagne in Pernand.) A restrained, ultra-fresh and distinctly floral nose reflects notes of various white orchard fruit aromas, lemon zest and discreet wood toast. There is outstanding volume to the rich and succulent broad-shouldered flavors that possess focused power on the beautifully long and sappy mineral-infused finish that is shaped by citrus-tinged acidity. This isn't quite as structured as the Chevalier, but it too is promising. Drink 2028+. |

| BH 91 (6/2020): There is just enough post-bottling SO2 to interfere slightly with the slightly exotic white orchard fruit aromas that are trimmed in a subtle dollop of wood. There is fine richness and volume to the caressing medium weight flavors that also possess a beguiling texture before culminating in a focused, complex and attractively persistent finish. This is sufficiently forward that it should be approachable after only 3 to 4 years if desired. Drink 2025+. |

Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrieres |
$625 |

VM 93 (9/2015): Bright, pale yellow. Very ripe aromas of pineapple, crushed stone and more exotic fruits closed down quickly with air. Dense and creamy on entry, with a repeating suggestion of exotic fruits, then tighter and more backward on the very long back end. Still, this seems essentially softer and riper than the Charmes, giving an impression of lower acidity. Colin-Morey blocked the malolactic fermentation in one of the three barrels of this juice. (Drink between 2020-2029). Stephen Tanzer. WA 93-95 (12/2014): The 2013 Meursault 1er Cru les Perrières has a fragrant bouquet with yellow plum, honeysuckle and jasmine scents, although I would like to see more mineralité expressed by the time of bottling. The palate is crisp and edgy on the entry. There is very good concentration here, well-judged acidity and it fans out wonderfully on the animated, lingering finish. This has great potential and constitutes one of the best Meursault Perrières that I have encountered this vintage. BH 91-93 (6/2015): This too is airy, cool and ultra-elegant with a similar nose that is intensely floral in character along with plenty of citrus, wet stone and green apple scents. The detailed, driving and wonderfully delineated middle weight flavors are packed with a forceful dose of minerality on the almost painfully intense, saline and beautifully lingering finish. This is a classic Perrières that will need a few years to flesh out and add depth. (Drink starting 2021). |

| BH 91-94 (6/2018): Background wisps of the exotic can be found on the white and yellow orchard fruit, mandarin orange and Granny Smith apple-scented nose. The mouth feel of the middle weight flavors though is cool and retained with a really lovely purity of expression on the highly complex, well-balanced and hugely long finish. This is terrific and a wine that will need at least a few years of cellaring first. (Drink starting 2024). |

VM 93+ (8/2024): The 2022 Chablis Fôrets 1er Cru was promising from barrel last year. Now, in bottle, it has held on to that complex, mineral-led bouquet, with hints of chamomile in the background. The palate is very well balanced with a silver thread of acidity, like the Montée de Tonnerre. Quite understated towards the finish, suggesting that this will benefit from a few years in bottle. Plenty of energy, but patience required. Neal Martin. BH 93 (10/2024): There is ample citrus influence suffusing the nose that could be from nowhere else but Chablis with its array of seashore, algae and oyster shell scents. The caressing but notably denser and more powerful larger-bodied flavors coat the palate while retaining an attractive texture on the strikingly persistent finish that is shaped by bright acidity. This can't match the MdT for refinement but it is presently more complex and should age just as well. |

VM 97+ (7/2012): Bright pale yellow. Precise, high-pitched nose offers lemon peel, crushed stone, white pepper and metallic minerality; more expressive today than the Preuses. Wonderfully pure, silky and incisive but youthfully closed on the palate, showing great concentration of bracing grapefruit and lemon fruit (tonic youth!). Not an overly powerful style but the spectacularly long finish leaves the retronasal passage quivering with juniper, floral and resin nuances. BH 94-96 (10/2011): (from 7 different parcels of 48 year old vines that total 1.7 ha). Compared to the Preuses, this is more obviously floral and stonier as well with its cool, pure and equally classic green fruit and oyster shell nose. The powerful medium-bodied flavors exude plenty of dry extract that confers a sappy texture upon the strikingly complex mid-palate though the saline suffused cuts-like-a-knife finish is chiseled, explosive and massively long. This is textbook Les Clos with size, power and explosive energy and offers a remarkable contrast to the Zen-like Preuses where its harmony and understatement are its primary strengths. One can admire both but either way, they are both impressive as hell. Drink 2022+. Don't miss! WA 96 (8/2012): Veins of saline minerality support expressive fruit in the 2010 Chablis Les Clos. White peaches, slate, smoke, crushed rocks and salt are all quite vivid in the glass. It is hard to resist the Clos today, as the fruit is so silky and delineated, yet at the same time it is quite clear the wine has the potential to evolve beautifully in bottle for many, many years. The 2010 is all about silkiness and precision. Today, it has a little less overt ripeness and weight next to the Preuses. Anticipated maturity: 2015+. |

WA 95 (8/2021): The 2018 Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses has turned out brilliantly, delivering notes of orange oil, crisp orchard fruit, iodine, white flowers and oyster shell, followed by a full-bodied, ample and enveloping palate that's racy and saline, concluding with a long, electric finish. This is rather open for a young Dauvissat Preuses; and while it should, all things being equal, enjoy a long life, it will be less of a crime than usual to open a bottle or two young. BH 94 (10/2020): A wonderfully broad-ranging nose is composed by restrained aromas of mineral reduction, floral, pear, apple and iodine scents. As is usually the case this is notably finer if less powerful and intense, indeed the mouthfeel of the cool middle weight flavors is almost delicate though this texture contrasts considerably with the lingering and strikingly complex finish that is, like the La Forest, almost chewy. This hugely long effort is one of the wines of the vintage though note well that patience will be required. VM 94 (9/2020): The 2018 Chablis Les Preuses Grand Cru has an outstanding nose for the vintage, very well defined with light nutty and smoky aromas. The palate is quite saline on the entry, displaying fine tension. Not as powerful as the 2019 but with an uncharacteristic linearity for the vintage, and more classic in style than many. Neal Martin. |

| BH 93 (6/2020): ( from a .33 ha parcel in Les Languettes.) A much more restrained nose reluctantly offers up its array of exceptionally floral-infused aromas that include those of acacia, lilac and rose petal along with hints of Granny Smith apples and lemongrass. There is outstanding volume and power to the relatively refined larger-scaled flavors that are much, much more mineral-driven on the youthfully austere, serious and compact finish. This beauty will need at least a few years of keeping first and should amply reward 10 to 12. Drink 2028+. |

| BH 92-94 (6/2021): (from a .33 ha parcel in Les Languettes.) Prominent aromas of mineral reduction and floral elements are laced with hints of wood toast, citrus peel, apple and anise. The sleekly muscular and stony big-bodied flavors are also nicely refined yet powerful while possessing excellent delineation on the youthfully austere finale. This is clearly ripe yet manages to retain the style of a classic CC. Drink 2031+. |

Le Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche Grand Cru (1.5 L) Very Lightly Nicked Label |
$1,399 |

WA 93-95 (4/1997): To no one's surprise, the Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche is Drouhin's finest 1995. Made entirely in 1st year oak (oak barrels that have been used once, not new oak), rich honeysuckle aromas burst from the glass with a touch of honeyed spice. The wine is extremely viscous and fat (my notes say: "wouldn't legally be considered a liquid") and has very ripe flavors of rich, toasted and roasted, lively fruits. This full-bodied, beautifully delineated wine exemplifies Montrachet, as it combines Batard's forward, sultry fruit and Chevalier's elegance and precision. Drink it between 2005-2012. WS 93 (4/1997): Subtle and classy, this wine is supple with near-perfect balance and spice, ripe fruit, toasted bread and mineral flavors that linger for minutes on the great, racy finish. Full-bodied; try around 2005. |

BH 92-94 (10/2020): A ripe and beautifully layered nose consists of notes of green fruit, citrus, iodine and mineral reduction. The powerful, rich and voluminous big-bodied flavors possess fine mid-palate density that coats the palate with sap before concluding in an austere, long and vaguely rustic finale. This is an imposing Bougros that should age effortlessly over the next decade plus. Drink 2029+. JS 94 (6/2021): Aromas of aniseed and lemon rind with dried apple and pear follow through to a full body. Yet, it’s tight and layered with a compact palate and plenty of fruit. Needs time to open. Try after 2023. WA 93+ (8/2021): Aromas of crisp green orchard fruit, clear honey, peach, mint and buttery pastry introduce the 2019 Chablis Grand Cru Bougros, a full-bodied, ample and enveloping wine that's one of the more textural, dramatic wines in the range. Unusually deep and concentrated, its immediate, charming profile belies considerable aging potential this year. |

BH 92-94 (10/2021): This is restrained to the point of being all but aromatically mute though aggressive swirling eventually coaxes notes of green fruit, citrus peel and oyster shell nuances to reveal themselves. There is both excellent volume and concentration to the big-bodied, powerful and imposing flavors that are focused, structured and youthfully austere. This is very much a work in progress, and I would advise allowing this at least 5 years of cellaring and it should easily reward a decade or more. VM 92-94 (10/2021): The 2020 Chablis Bougros Grand Cru comes from six hectares of vines, southwest- and south-facing, forming the two different cuvées. The bouquet unfolds to offer lovely yellow fruit and oyster leaf aromas, well defined and quite generous. The palate is taut and crisp with fine acidity and moderate depth, but very pretty and composed toward the saline finish. There is plenty of substance already in situ and I foresee this aging with class. Neal Martin. |

| BH 93-95 (11/2020): (from a 2.2 ha parcel at the bottom section of the vineyard; even so, the vineyard is so steep here that it must be worked entirely by hand as tractors would be dangerous to use.) This too offers a wonderfully broad range of classic Chablis elements that include mineral reduction, iodine, ocean breeze and quinine on the citrus-infused nose. The racy, detailed and beautifully textured and focused flavors deliver outstanding length on the balanced, saliva-inducing and sneaky long finish. This is also quite classy and if not quite as complete as the Preuses in 2019, it's close and with time in bottle, it may well catch its stablemate. Drink 2029+. Don't miss! |

WA 96 (7/2022): In a sense, the 2020 Chablis Grand Cru Bougros Côte Bouguerots offers a resumé of several of Fèvre's grand cru bottlings, uniting the taut musculature of Valmur and the ethereal, mineral profile of Les Preuses, with some of the perfumed sensuality of Vaudésir and fleshy texture of Bougros. The result is certainly a very compelling wine, exhibiting aromas of crisp green orchard fruit, white flowers, freshly baked bread, oyster jus and white peach, followed by a full-bodied, taut and layered palate that's seamless and complete, concluding with a pungently mineral finish. It's worth a special effort to seek out, though a decade's patience is warmly advised. BH 96 (9/2022): A deft application of wood lurks in the background of the aromas cool citrus, apple, mineral reduction and ocean breeze wisps. There is an almost painful intensity to the powerful but sleek and defined medium weight plus flavors that brim with minerality on the clean, very dry and hugely long finish. This is also potentially brilliant and well-worth considering. (Drink starting 2032). VM 93 (7/2024): The 2020 Chablis Bougros Côte Bouguerots Grand Cru has a crushed stone scented bouquet. A peppermint trace comes through with aeration. The nose is controlled and citrus-fresh, and I admire the energy. The palate is poised and concentrated, and a silver thread of acidity keeps this Grand Cru tensile and focused. Bright and lightly spiced towards the finish, this fans out with style. Excellent. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2025-2044). Neal Martin. |

| BH 93-95 (10/2023): This is the coolest and most restrained of this group of 2022s with its elegant aromas of prominent mineral reduction, lemon-lime, spice and oyster shell. There is almost painful intensity to the intensely stony and strikingly well-detailed larger-bodied yet still beautifully refined flavors that display huge length on the impeccably well-balanced finale. Like the Preuses, this is very classy and built to repay extended keeping. Drink 2032+. |

VM 94+ (8/2017): Pale, green-tinged yellow. Captivating but youthfully reticent scents and flavors of citrus peel, white pepper, fresh herbs, crushed stone and white flowers, plus a whiff of rhubarb. Quite broad and full but not at all heavy in the mouth. This wine doesn't have the acid edge of the Bougros Côte Bouguerots but is wonderfully silky and horizontal, coating every square millimeter of the palate--and it's hardly short of energy! Most impressive today on the superb dusty, mounting finish. This potentially outstanding wine still needs time to gain in complexity but it should evolve positively in bottle for many years. Production here was cut by the pre-harvest hailstorm, but if this fruit was picked earlier than originally forecasted, it does not seem to have suffered for it. Stephen Tanzer. BH 93 (10/2017): ( from 4 separate parcels totaling 4.11 ha, 3 of which are all at the top of the slope.) Once again there is just enough wood present to warrant mentioning on the strikingly fresh, cool and pure nose of mineral reduction, ripe pear, sea water and floral aromas. There is flat out remarkable power to the highly energetic flavors that also display ample amounts of dry extract that imparts a sappy texture to the intensely mineral-driven, explosive and hugely long finish that is unusually dry for the vintage. It's interesting as one can sense an elevated level of alcohol but surprisingly there is no associated finishing warmth to speak of. Drink 2023+. |

BH 95 (10/2019): (from 4 separate parcels totaling 4.11 ha, 3 of which are all at the top of the slope.) Here too there is enough wood, even though subtle, to merit mentioning on the decidedly cool and reserved nose that offers up plenty of floral elements along with those of citrus, iodine and oyster shell. The lavishly rich, muscular and overtly powerful flavors possess the hallmark minerality that carries over to the dense, citrusy and bone dry finish. This beauty should age effortlessly and is class in a glass. Drink 2032+. VM 94 (1/2020): The 2017 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru is dense and exotic, with tremendous volume and textural richness that develops with a bit of air. It should start to settle down with more time in bottle. Today, though, I am struck by the wine's sheer weight. Antonio Galloni. |

| BH 93 (10/2020): Once again, the nose is both fresh and ripe and while it's not quite as elegant and airy as the Côte Bouguerots there is every bit as much classic Chablis character. There is a really lovely mouthfeel to the sappy large-bodied flavors thanks to the copious quantity of dry extract that also serves to buffer the moderately firm acid spine on the powerful, punchy and intensely saline-inflected finale. While there is a hint of backend warmth, this beautiful effort should age well while adding depth along the way. |

| BH 93-96 (11/2020): (from 4 separate parcels totaling 4.11 ha, 3 of which are all at the top of the slope.) If Kimmeridgian could be distilled, it would likely smell exactly like the nose of the 2019 Les Clos with the additions of wet chalk, citrus zest and oyster shell. There is equally good delineation to the snappy, painfully intense and overtly stony large-bodied flavors that deliver superb length on the balanced finale. This elegant and classy effort is also built on a base of almost pungent minerality and a wine that is indisputably going to age effortlessly for years. Drink 2031+. Don't miss! |

There is again excellent volume and concentration to the powerful and muscular flavors that also coat the palate with dry extract on the impressively complex and hugely long finish. | BH 93-95 (10/2023): This is aromatically quite similar to the Côte Bouguerots but with more floral influence. The rich, big-bodied and tautly muscular flavors are also seemingly chiseled from Kimmeridgian, all wrapped in a wonderfully persistent, very dry, balanced and stony finale. This is also extremely impressive and equally built to repay extended cellaring. Drink 2032+. |

| VM 97 (1/2020): An exotic, totally beguiling wine, the 2017 Chablis Les Preuses Grand Cru melds together rich fruit with saline, mineral-drenched intensity. White flowers, mint, white pepper and crushed rocks add tremendous lift to this striking, utterly captivating Chablis. A wine of superb classicism, the Preuses has it all. That's all there is to it. | BH 94-96 (11/2020): ( from two parcels of vines that total 2.55 ha, or 22% of the entire appellation.) This too could be from nowhere else except Chablis with its citrus-tinged aromas of tidal pool, white flowers and shellfish. The racy, intense and painfully intense larger-scaled flavors possess cuts-like-a-knife delineation on the bone dry and super-saline finish where a distinct bitter lemon quality slowly emerges. This is very classy juice and also built-to-age. Drink 2031+. Don't miss! |

| BH 95 (9/2022): Aromas of quinine, essence of wet stone and seashore add breadth to the nose of pear, apple and anise. Once again there is fine density and intensity to the mouthcoating medium-weight flavors that flash outstanding length on the bracingly saline-suffused finale. This has already developed very good depth and more will almost surely follow. This is potentially outstanding. Drink 2032+. |

| BH 92-95 (10/2023): A toasty nose features notes of smoky grilled shellfish, pear and algae. The dense and equally serious larger-scaled flavors don't have quite the same power yet they are clearly more refined on the markedly bitter citrus zest finish that displays outstanding length. This is exceptionally classy and while it too could use more depth, that is all but assured if given a chance. Drink 2032+. |

| BH 92-94 (10/2023): Slightly more evident wood can be found on the cool and elegant aromas of mineral reduction, spiced pear and pretty floral whiffs along with a plenitude of classic Chablis elements. The understated, pure and borderline delicate flavors are at once supple yet beautifully detailed as well as almost aggressively mineral-driven on the superbly long finish. This is pretty much textbook Vaudésir. Drink 2030+. |

WA 94 (2/2020): Blockier and denser than the Criots, the 2018 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru unfurls in the glass with scents of honeycomb, orange oil, white flowers and toasted nuts. Full-bodied, fleshy and textural, it's lively and long, its rich core of fruit underpinned by ripe acids. Broad-shouldered and expressive, this will drink well sooner than the tighter-knit 2017. BH 93 (6/2020): This is at once both fresher and more elegant with its floral suffused aromas of spiced pear, apple, spice and admirably discreet wood. There is good vibrancy if only average density to the sleek, refined and reasonably well-detailed medium weight flavors that display outstanding length on the very dry finale. This needs to develop better depth to achieve my rating but given the lovely balance and tightly wound finish, it has the potential to do so. |
