JD 92 (2/2023): Certainly the richest in the lineup, the 2019 Corton-Vergennes Grand Cru offers a more medium gold hue as well as a richer feel in its stone fruits, toasted nut, white flowers, and subtle spicy oak-driven aromatics. It continues to gain freshness with time in the glass, but this lacks the touch of vibrancy found in the Clos Des Mouches. Rich, medium to full-bodied, and broad and expansive, it's an interesting wine that might blossom with a year in bottle. At the very least, it's a richer, powerful, nicely balanced white that brings the fruit and texture.
BH 92 (6/2021): Discreet but discernible wood influence surrounds the ripe aromas of white orchard fruit compote, anise and citrus confit. There is excellent volume to the opulent and exceptionally rich larger-scaled flavors that are not particularly refined, indeed they flirt with rusticity, though there is fine depth and length. This is a big but balanced Corton blanc that should be reasonably approachable young. (Drink starting 2026). |
