BH 89-91 (6/2021): Firm reduction presently dominates the nose though I suspect that it won't last. There is again fine richness to the appealing textured and vibrant flavors that also conclude in a clean, refreshingly dry and very lemony finale. This is sufficiently forward that it could be enjoyed on the younger side, yet it should also be capable of rewarding several years of cellaring as well. (Drink starting 2024).
WA 89-91 (1/2021): Aromas of crisp green orchard fruit, citrus zest and fresh peach, framed by a light touch of youthful reduction, introduce d'Angerville's 2019 Meursault 1er Cru Santenots, a medium to full-bodied, tightly wound wine that was quite reserved when I tasted it. I suspect that, in bottle, it will show all the plenitude that one expects from this site in a warm vintage, but it's also promisingly bright and precise.
VM 88-90 (12/2020): The 2019 Meursault Santenots 1er Cru, aged for 12 months in barrel and racked into stainless steel on the lees, comes across a little laconic and backward on the nose with light smoke and beeswax aromas. The palate is better with good weight and concentration on the entry. Touches of dried honey and a little brioche, fresh, if uncomplicated compared to the Volnays. I think this was just a little reduced at the time of my tasting. |

| VM 89 (12/2020): The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Village comes from six parcels within the appellation. It does not quite deliver the complexity on the nose that I expect - something that I observed when I tasted from barrel 12 months ago. The palate is better with a citric entry, quite saline with orange zest and a touch of peach skin towards the finish. Fine, but I would broach this in the next 5-7 years. (Drink between 2021-2028). Silky-sweet in the mouth, showing sexy leesy notes of hazelnut and smoke and excellent salty extract but less obvious oakiness than the Criots and the Bienvenue. This powerful yet suave Batard finishes smooth and vibrant, with a repeating note of clove and terrific saline persistence. |

WA 90-92 (1/2019): Derived from the superior lieux-dits of Les Houlières, La Rousselle, Les Charmes and Les Enseignères, Boillot's 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Village exhibits pretty aromas of lemons, white peach, fresh pastry, blanched almonds and honeycomb. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and elegant, with succulent acids and a saline finish.

BH 90 (6/2025): An exuberantly floral-suffused nose speaks of the essence of pear, apple and just sliced lemon. This mouthfeel of the middle weight flavors is really quite sleek with fine delineation and a subtle minerality adding a sense of lift to the youthfully austere finale. This lovely and balanced effort could use better depth so plan on at least a few years of bottle aging. (Drink starting 2029).
JM 89-91 (10/2024): From Charmes, Houlières, Enseignères, Rue Rousseau and Rue aux Vaches. 20% new wood. Mid lemon yellow. Reductive. Starts discreetly, then builds in intensity, as always more linear than the Meursault, with a fair length of finish. Drink from 2028-2032.
VM 87-89 (2/2025): Boillot’s 2023 Puligny-Montrachet is a fairly straightforward, easygoing wine. Floral top notes, spice and a touch of tropical fruit open nicely. All this needs is a bit more depth in the mid-palate, something that seems missing here but is evident in many other wines, including the village Meursault. (Drink between 2025-2029). BH 94 (6/2020): (from 60+ year old vines and the vineyard is a whopping 4 ha monopole within Perrières.) A whiff of matchstick is present on the elegant and highly restrained aromas of acacia blossom, spice, white orchard fruit and a hint of Asian-style tea. There is excellent volume and minerality to the strikingly textured medium-bodied flavors that display outstanding complexity on the balanced, dry and impressively persistent finish. This is one very classy wine that is already wonderfully harmonious. Drink 2028+. Don't miss! Outstanding!
WA 95 (1/2020): Boillot's emblematic 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Mouchère has turned out brilliantly, wafting from the glass with aromas of pear, hazelnut, dried white flowers, citrus oil, blanched almonds and smoke. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, with terrific concentration, searing levels of extract and a long, mineral finish. |

| BH 95 (6/2021): (from 60+ year old vines and the vineyard is a whopping 4 ha monopole within Perrières). In contrast to the nose of the Pucelles, here it’s elegant, pure and airy with its layered aromas of essence of apple, pear and acacia blossom. There is excellent volume and mid-palate density to the mouth coating and caressing middle weight flavors that culminate in a lemony finish that is hugely long if perhaps not quite as crisp. This too is very stylish and a wine that should age gracefully for years. Drink 2031+. |

VM 93-95 (1/2024): The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Mouchère 1er Cru is one of the most shut down of the whites in this vast range. Mineral and savory notes abound, but fruit is decidedly pushed into the background. Citrus confit, crushed rocks, mint and white pepper all race across the palate. There's quite a bit of youthful austerity at this stage, but this should come together in time. A whole range of complex floral and tropical nuances linger. Neal Martin. |

The Bienvenues is a bit less overt in its bouquet than the Criots, but richer, deeper and more seamless in its fruit. Here, too, it is the wine’s sheer pedigree that stands out most. Anticipated maturity: 2014+.
BH 94 (6/2013): This is also notably ripe but the aromas do not run to the exotic as the honeysuckle, apricot, white peach and subtle spice notes are entirely classic. There is an appealing succulence to the delicious, intense and strikingly fine medium-bodied flavors and while there is certainly a sense of focused power present on the long, clean and refined finish, this is essentially a Bienvenues of finesse. Drink 2021+. Don't miss!
VM 92-95 (9/2012): Bright yellow. Vibrant nose combines smoke, honey and sexy minerality. More concentrated and sweet than the Criots but with the verve--not to mention the saline density--of Boillot's Pucelles. Lovely creamy old-viney texture and length. VM 95+ (9/2016): Ineffable high-pitched aromas of lemon zest and silex convey a powerful impression of terroir. Wonderfully juicy and penetrating, conveying great mineral definition and site character but youthfully austere today owing to its bracing acidity. Most impressive today on the racy, extract-rich finish, where lemon, lime and crushed stone flavors build inexorably and leave the taste buds quivering. BH 95 (6/2016): (100% from Aloxe fruit in Le Charlemagne.) Mineral reduction and lime hints add breadth to the lilac, green apple and tangerine skin-suffused aromas. There is seriously impressive size and weight to the dramatically powerful, rich and concentrated big-bodied flavors that possess obvious muscle and simply fantastic length on the overtly austere, deep and palate staining finish. This is a chiseled and sleekly powerful effort that should also be capable of aging effortlessly for years. Drink 2026+. Don't miss!
WA 94 (1/2016): The 2014 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a clean, well defined bouquet with hints of almond and white chocolate, although I was seeking a little more personality to come through. The palate shows the nose how it's done and it is probably more indicative: spice, ginger, almond, citrus fruit and a touch of white peach. This is very complex and the more you remain in its presence, the more it wins you over. Cellar this for 4-5 years and you should have a very fine Corton Charlemagne on your hands, but it covets its secrets for now. |

VM 93-95 (1/2024): The 2022 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is a blend of fruit from Aloxe-Corton (75%) and Pernand-Vergelesses (25%), a combination that works well in giving the wine balance. There's quite a bit of phenolic intensity and youthful austerity here. Herbs, crushed rocks, graphite, mint and citrus confit build nicely. This is particularly good in the context of a very hot and dry vintage which is not usually especially propitious for Criots. Drink 2028+.

The sleek, precise and borderline painfully intense flavors aren't quite as imposing as the of the Bâtard (see Domaine Boillot) but they are notably finer with seemingly an unending reserve of dry extract that buffers the very firm acid spine on the massively long finish. This is a superb Montrachet to basically buy and forget you own it for at least a decade and it wouldn't surprise me if this beauty needed all of 15 years to reach its full potential. Brilliant. VM 95 (10/2020): The 2015 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is a powerful, dense wine. It possesses tremendous richness and tons of intensity. Radiance and phenolic intensity are two of the signatures. That's about all I can tell you, as the 2015 is nowhere near ready to drink. It does have tremendous potential though, that is clear. (Drink between 2025-2035). Antonio Galloni.
BH 93 (9/2023): This is exceptionally fresh in the context of the ripe 2015 vintage and a wine that is maturing nicely with its evidently cool aromas of white peach, passion fruit and citrus confit where a hint of secondary fruit lurks in the background. The relatively sleek and solidly concentrated middle weight plus flavors possess both fine volume and richness while exhibiting first-rate length on the stony, mildly austere, lemony and agreeably dry finale. This is clearly still on the way up and while it could easily be enjoyed now, I would hold in the hopes of obtaining more overall depth. Tasted twice in the last year with consistent results (and no premox). (Drink starting 2025).
WA 93 (4/2018): The 2015 Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru from Bonneau du Martray reveals a youthful nose of citrus zest, white flowers, tart pineapple and struck flint, framed by some spicy new oak. On the palate, this full-bodied wine reveals tension and definition that it seemed to miss in barrel, its glossy attack now backed by a nicely chalky structure and a deep, properly reserved core. This will need some time in the bottle to integrate, but its evolution is very promising, and while this is unusually rich and concentrated those qualities don't come at the expense of terroir. |

WA 90 (1/2023): Aromas of pear, crisp green apple, white flowers and hazelnut introduce Raphaël Coche's 2020 Bourgogne Blanc, a medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny wine that's layered and concentrated, with racy acids and a precise, saline finish. This year, domaine fruit is complemented by a small parcel of purchased grapes from lieu-dit Magny in Meursault, not far from the domaine itself.

BH 97 (11/2021): (with thanks to Dr. Michael Chen and Hal Borthwick). Cool, reserved and incredibly pure green apple, citrus, floral and white pear notes blend seamlessly into concentrated mineral-driven flavors that deliver the hallmark delineation, power and breathtaking persistence of a classically styled Corton-Charlemagne where the only possible reproach is a hint of warmth. This monument is extremely impressive and destined for a long life, indeed it has only just entered the front end of its prime drinkability. Consistent notes, indeed I've never had a poor bottle; note that my scores have ranged from 95 to 97 points.
WA 94-95 (12/2001): The toasted oak-scented 2000 Corton-Charlemagne has the austerity found in many of this vineyard's wines in the 2000 vintage. However, it is vinous, rich, and broad. Pure flavors of minerals, toast, and spices can be found in its highly delineated, profound offering. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2015.
VM 94+ (10/2002): Oak-influenced aromas of grilled nuts, vanilla and nutmeg. Dense and voluptuous; as ripe as the Perrieres but less expressive today despite its extraordinary texture. Solid and chewy wine with an almost tannic finish. More explosive today on the aftertaste than it is in the middle palate. This may well prove to be a more complete wine than the 2001 example. |

VM 98 (9/2016): Readers lucky enough to own the 2009 Corton-Charlemagne will have a hard time keeping their hands off this beauty. The warm vintage has softened some of the contours, resulting in a Charlemagne that is surprisingly accessible at a young age. All the Coche signatures are present, the edges are a bit rounded, which results in a wine of frankly extra-terrestrial beauty. Smoke, slate and crushed rocks are some of the notes that lend nuance to the expressive, silky fruit. The 2009 somehow manages to be radiant and crystalline. This is about as great as wine gets. BH 96 (6/2012): Here the nose resembles that of the Genevrières with its mildly exotic fruit aromas that combine with rose petal, citrus, wet stone and apple scents. This is a big wine, indeed the word massive does not exaggerate the palate impact of the almost breathtakingly concentrated and powerful flavors that, despite all of the size, weight and dry extract, avoid any trace of heaviness on the extraordinarily long finish that is also borderline painfully intense. There is a very mild touch of warmth but this is a minor nit in what is a genuinely remarkable effort that should age gracefully for years. (Drink starting 2021).
WA 96 (4/2018): The 2009 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is fabulous, soaring from the glass with a youthful bouquet of preserved citrus, vanilla pod, pastry cream, subtle white truffle and toasted sesame. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and layered, with a textural attack, deep core, excellent concentration and succulent acids. The length on the finish is extraordinary. While this is the highest in alcohol of the vintages in this tasting (2009-1999), it's better integrated than in the 2006 or 2003 vintages, both of which seem warmer—which Jean-François Coche suggests is because wine made from clean grapes hides its alcohol better than wine made from botrytized grapes. Raphaël Coche adds that 2009 was a year defined by "sun and juice," as vines set a large crop and ripened it in balmy conditions without suffering from any stress. |

BH 96 (3/2023): A discreet if perceptible application of wood sets off still youthful and wonderfully fresh elegant, ripe and beautifully layered and aromas of mandarin orange, peach, white flowers, apple, anise and mineral reduction. There is excellent concentration, especially for the vintage, to the broad-shouldered and moderately powerful flavors that possess a caressing mouth feel on the mid-palate yet the hugely long and pungently stony finish. The '11 Coche CC is stunningly good and still clearly on the way up though not so much so that it couldn't be enjoyed now if given 30 minutes or so of air. In sum, this is one of the wines of the 2011 vintage.
VM 96 (12/2020): Two vintages of Coche Dury’s Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru follow. Neither 2011 nor 2003 is especially highly regarded, but it is precisely vintages like these that can be so instructive because they tell us so much about what talented growers can achieve in challenging years. The 2011 Charlemagne needs several hours of air to open, which is not surprising, as it has always been a stubborn wine. I remember that Jean-François Coche hesitated to show the Charlemagne when I stopped by to taste the bottled 2011s, as he felt the long malos had resulted in a wine that needs more time in bottle to fully come together. Now, at nearly age ten, the 2011 remains quite vibrant and nervy, with striking citrus, floral and mineral notes laced into a racy frame. All it needs is a bit more flesh, but it’s the sort of flesh that develops with more time in bottle. Antonio Galloni. |

WA 93 (1/2023): The 2020 Meursault Village has turned out beautifully in bottle, unwinding in the glass with scents of crisp Anjou pear, lemon zest, freshly baked bread, blanched almonds, pastry cream and apple blossom. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, its textural attack segues into a fleshy, precise mid-palate that's animated by racy acids, concluding with a long, mouthwatering finish. It's another terrific rendition of this benchmark cuvée.
BH 91 (6/2023): A more elegant and very Meursault nose combines notes of acacia and citrus confit with those of hazelnut and white orchard fruit, all of which is trimmed in a discreet application of wood. Here too there is outstanding density to the more powerful mouthcoating flavors that possess a more sophisticated texture while displaying excellent persistence on the balanced finish that is shaped by lemon-tinged acidity. This is lovely and a wine that should easily repay 10 to 12 years of keeping. (Drink starting 2030). |

BH 93 (6/2024): Restrained and distinctly cool aromas include a plethora of floral nuances that add elegance to the white orchard fruit, citrus and soft hazelnut wisps. The incredibly low yields are in evidence as the mouthfeel of the medium-bodied flavors is almost thick yet the bright citrus-tinged acid spine keeps everything in focus on the strikingly long, bone-dry and markedly austere finale. This is a superb Meursault villages and very much built-to-age, indeed it's absolutely going to need it.
WA 92 (1/2024): Aromas of crisp orchard fruit, white flowers, hazelnuts and clear honey introduce Coche's 2021 Meursault Village, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive wine with a pretty core of fruit girdled by tangy acids and chalky extract, concluding with a long, palate staining finish.
VM 89 (1/2024): The 2021 Meursault Village, this vintage a blend of all their vineyard holdings because the yield was so small (for example, just two barrels from half a hectare in Narvaux), has a taut and delineated bouquet with crushed stone infusing the malic aromas. The palate is well-balanced with a twist of lemon on the entry, segueing into more orange rind notes towards the finish. Moderate length. Enjoy this over the next decade. Neal Martin. |

| BH 93 (10/2020): Like the Montée de Tonnerre this is overtly floral in character on the lightly spiced nose that displays additional aromas of mineral reduction, iodine, lemon peel and pear. There is a really lovely sense of verve suffusing the powerful yet reasonably refined larger-scaled flavors that culminate in an almost chewy bone-dry finish thanks to the abundance of sappy dry extract. This muscular effort isn't as refined as the Montée de Tonnerre but it's just as complex and persistent. Drink 2030+. |

On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and concentrated, with a deep and tight-knit core, striking tension and a searingly mineral finish. Séchet—where Dauvissat owns a 0.8-hectare parcel—is located in the Vaillons Valley, but its windier situation and soils richer in active limestone mean it's typically much chalkier and more tensile than the other climats that make up Vaillons.

VM 97+ (7/2012): Bright pale yellow. Precise, high-pitched nose offers lemon peel, crushed stone, white pepper and metallic minerality; more expressive today than the Preuses. Wonderfully pure, silky and incisive but youthfully closed on the palate, showing great concentration of bracing grapefruit and lemon fruit (tonic youth!). Not an overly powerful style but the spectacularly long finish leaves the retronasal passage quivering with juniper, floral and resin nuances.
BH 94-96 (10/2011): (from 7 different parcels of 48 year old vines that total 1.7 ha). Compared to the Preuses, this is more obviously floral and stonier as well with its cool, pure and equally classic green fruit and oyster shell nose. The powerful medium-bodied flavors exude plenty of dry extract that confers a sappy texture upon the strikingly complex mid-palate though the saline suffused cuts-like-a-knife finish is chiseled, explosive and massively long. This is textbook Les Clos with size, power and explosive energy and offers a remarkable contrast to the Zen-like Preuses where its harmony and understatement are its primary strengths. One can admire both but either way, they are both impressive as hell. Drink 2022+. Don't miss!
WA 96 (8/2012): Veins of saline minerality support expressive fruit in the 2010 Chablis Les Clos. White peaches, slate, smoke, crushed rocks and salt are all quite vivid in the glass. It is hard to resist the Clos today, as the fruit is so silky and delineated, yet at the same time it is quite clear the wine has the potential to evolve beautifully in bottle for many, many years. The 2010 is all about silkiness and precision. Today, it has a little less overt ripeness and weight next to the Preuses. Anticipated maturity: 2015+. |

WA 94 (2/2020): The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Marquis de Laguiche is showing brilliantly from bottle, wafting from the glass with a lovely bouquet of orange oil, nutmeg, Anjou pear, white peach, honeycomb and wheat toast. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and succulent, with an elegantly textural attack, fine concentration at the core and racy underpinning acids. Harmonious and complete, this is routinely one of Drouhin's finest white wines, and that is true in 2017 also.
VM 92 (8/2021): The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeots 1er Cru (Marquis de Laguiche) displays a light reduction on the nose, touches of clear honey, jasmine and lemon thyme developing with aeration. The pretty palate of white peach and passion fruit notes is a little sweeter and more candied than Olivier Leflaive's Abbaye de Morgeot tasted in the same flight, but maintains a fine bead of acidity with good salinity through to the finish. Medium to full-bodied, sumptuous and textural, it's satiny and enveloping, with a fleshy core underpinned by succulent acids, concluding with a nicely defined finish despite its gourmand, elegantly sun-kissed profile.
VM 90 (11/2022): The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot 1er Cru offers orange cordial and lychee scents on the nose - a bit flat compared to its peers. The palate is well balanced with a touch of bitter lemon on the entry, orange rind mixed with mango, a bit of chewiness on the finish some waxiness on the aftertaste. The powerful, rich and voluminous big-bodied flavors possess fine mid-palate density that coats the palate with sap before concluding in an austere, long and vaguely rustic finale. This is an imposing Bougros that should age effortlessly over the next decade plus. Drink 2029+.
JS 94 (6/2021): Aromas of aniseed and lemon rind with dried apple and pear follow through to a full body. Yet, it’s tight and layered with a compact palate and plenty of fruit. Needs time to open. Try after 2023.
WA 93+ (8/2021): Aromas of crisp green orchard fruit, clear honey, peach, mint and buttery pastry introduce the 2019 Chablis Grand Cru Bougros, a full-bodied, ample and enveloping wine that's one of the more textural, dramatic wines in the range. Unusually deep and concentrated, its immediate, charming profile belies considerable aging potential this year. |

JM 93-95 (6/2021): Lighter lemon yellow, the bouquet offering a light touch of menthol and especially anis. Deeper generous soil here but they think they have learnt to get the best out of it. Certainly a grand cru wealth of fruit, the acidity keeps the balance very nicely, a generous warm overcoat and good length. Nice wine!
BH 92-94 (10/2021): This is restrained to the point of being all but aromatically mute though aggressive swirling eventually coaxes notes of green fruit, citrus peel and oyster shell nuances to reveal themselves. There is both excellent volume and concentration to the big-bodied, powerful and imposing flavors that are focused, structured and youthfully austere. This is very much a work in progress, and I would advise allowing this at least 5 years of cellaring and it should easily reward a decade or more.

The bouquet unfolds to offer lovely yellow fruit and oyster leaf aromas, well defined and quite generous. The palate is taut and crisp with fine acidity and moderate depth, but very pretty and composed toward the saline finish. There is plenty of substance already in situ and I foresee this aging with class. Neal Martin. |

The result is certainly a very compelling wine, exhibiting aromas of crisp green orchard fruit, white flowers, freshly baked bread, oyster jus and white peach, followed by a full-bodied, taut and layered palate that's seamless and complete, concluding with a pungently mineral finish. It's worth a special effort to seek out, though a decade's patience is warmly advised.
BH 96 (9/2022): A deft application of wood lurks in the background of the aromas cool citrus, apple, mineral reduction and ocean breeze wisps. There is an almost painful intensity to the powerful but sleek and defined medium weight plus flavors that brim with minerality on the clean, very dry and hugely long finish. This is also potentially brilliant and well-worth considering. (Drink starting 2032).

The nose is controlled and citrus-fresh, and I admire the energy. The palate is poised and concentrated, and a silver thread of acidity keeps this Grand Cru tensile and focused. Bright and lightly spiced towards the finish, this fans out with style. Excellent. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2025-2044). Neal Martin. |

VM 94+ (8/2017): Pale, green-tinged yellow. Captivating but youthfully reticent scents and flavors of citrus peel, white pepper, fresh herbs, crushed stone and white flowers, plus a whiff of rhubarb. Quite broad and full but not at all heavy in the mouth. This wine doesn't have the acid edge of the Bougros Côte Bouguerots but is wonderfully silky and horizontal, coating every square millimeter of the palate--and it's hardly short of energy! Most impressive today on the superb dusty, mounting finish. This potentially outstanding wine still needs time to gain in complexity but it should evolve positively in bottle for many years. Production here was cut by the pre-harvest hailstorm, but if this fruit was picked earlier than originally forecasted, it does not seem to have suffered for it. Stephen Tanzer.

Once again there is just enough wood present to warrant mentioning on the strikingly fresh, cool and pure nose of mineral reduction, ripe pear, sea water and floral aromas. There is flat out remarkable power to the highly energetic flavors that also display ample amounts of dry extract that imparts a sappy texture to the intensely mineral-driven, explosive and hugely long finish that is unusually dry for the vintage. It's interesting as one can sense an elevated level of alcohol but surprisingly there is no associated finishing warmth to speak of. Drink 2023+. |

Here too there is enough wood, even though subtle, to merit mentioning on the decidedly cool and reserved nose that offers up plenty of floral elements along with those of citrus, iodine and oyster shell. The lavishly rich, muscular and overtly powerful flavors possess the hallmark minerality that carries over to the dense, citrusy and bone dry finish. This beauty should age effortlessly and is class in a glass. Drink 2032+.

WA 94 (2/2020): Blockier and denser than the Criots, the 2018 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru unfurls in the glass with scents of honeycomb, orange oil, white flowers and toasted nuts. Full-bodied, fleshy and textural, it's lively and long, its rich core of fruit underpinned by ripe acids. Broad-shouldered and expressive, this will drink well sooner than the tighter-knit 2017.
BH 93 (6/2020): This is at once both fresher and more elegant with its floral suffused aromas of spiced pear, apple, spice and admirably discreet wood. There is good vibrancy if only average density to the sleek, refined and reasonably well-detailed medium weight flavors that display outstanding length on the very dry finale. This needs to develop better depth to achieve my rating but given the lovely balance and tightly wound finish, it has the potential to do so. |

WA 94 (2/2020): Dramatic and expressive, the 2018 Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru exhibits aromas of orange rind, peach, honeyed pears and marzipan. Full-bodied, supple and textural, it's an enveloping but youthfully structured wine that will reward at least a couple of years of bottle age. Céline Gagnard told me that this site handled the hot conditions well.
BH 92? (6/2020): This rachets up the ripeness level even more with its overtly exotic aromas of apricot, peach, tangerine and mango along with a curious hint of caramel. The big-bodied and serious flavors possess a luscious mid-palate though there is plenty of power to the sappy finish that is borderline flat. As the description suggests, this is somewhat awkward and diffuse. It may well recover but it's not clear that this is going to be at its usual excellent level.
VM 91+ (11/2022): The 2018 Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has an open, tropical-tinged bouquet that is quite seductive with all those passion fruit and pineapple scents, but it does not convey a sense of mineralité. It actually becomes more reductive when returning to my glass after 10 minutes. The palate is balanced with a slightly spiced opening, oily in texture (botrytis?) with plenty of extract. Rather dense and muscular towards the finish. Give this two or three years in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting. Neal Martin. |

BH 90 (10/2024): A touch of phenolic character is present on the lightly wood nose of mineral reduction, acacia and essence of pear. The sleek, delicious and vibrant, if not super-dense, flavors are rich to the point of opulence while displaying fine power on the bitter lemon rind-inflected finale where the only reproach is a hint of warmth. This should drink well young but also drink well with a few years of bottle age. (Drink starting 2028).
VM 90 (8/2024): The 2022 Pouilly-Fuissé Tête de Cuvée is raised 60% in oak barrels and the rest in tank, bottled at the end of 2023. This cuvée includes some Premier Crus, including Combettes, which were not bottled separately this year. It has a winsome nose with mint-tinged citrus fruit that opens with gusto in the glass. The palate is well-balanced with a fresh entry. It's spicy with stem ginger and lemongrass towards the lively finish. Maybe it is not the most refined Pouilly-Fuissé, but there is commendable energy in the context of the growing season. (Drink between 2025-2034). Neal Martin. |

BH 90 (10/2024): A touch of phenolic character is present on the lightly wood nose of mineral reduction, acacia and essence of pear. The sleek, delicious and vibrant, if not super-dense, flavors are rich to the point of opulence while displaying fine power on the bitter lemon rind-inflected finale where the only reproach is a hint of warmth. This should drink well young but also drink well with a few years of bottle age. (Drink starting 2028).
VM 90 (8/2024): The 2022 Pouilly-Fuissé Tête de Cuvée is raised 60% in oak barrels and the rest in tank, bottled at the end of 2023. This cuvée includes some Premier Crus, including Combettes, which were not bottled separately this year. It has a winsome nose with mint-tinged citrus fruit that opens with gusto in the glass. The palate is well-balanced with a fresh entry. It's spicy with stem ginger and lemongrass towards the lively finish. Maybe it is not the most refined Pouilly-Fuissé, but there is commendable energy in the context of the growing season. (Drink between 2025-2034). Neal Martin. |
