BH 94 (6/2020): (from 60+ year old vines and the vineyard is a whopping 4 ha monopole within Perrières.) A whiff of matchstick is present on the elegant and highly restrained aromas of acacia blossom, spice, white orchard fruit and a hint of Asian-style tea. There is excellent volume and minerality to the strikingly textured medium-bodied flavors that display outstanding complexity on the balanced, dry and impressively persistent finish. This is one very classy wine that is already wonderfully harmonious. Drink 2028+. Don't miss! Outstanding!
WA 95 (1/2020): Boillot's emblematic 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Mouchère has turned out brilliantly, wafting from the glass with aromas of pear, hazelnut, dried white flowers, citrus oil, blanched almonds and smoke. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, with terrific concentration, searing levels of extract and a long, mineral finish. |

WA 94 (1/2020): Boillot's 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles reveals aromas of orange oil, white flowers and peaches, complemented by classy top notes of nutmeg and warm bread. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and vibrant, with quite a tensile, tight-knit core for this typically enveloping premier cru. But looking back through my notes, that often seems to be the case chez Boillot.
BH 92 (6/2020): Here too there is a touch of residual SO2 that may require decanting so that the elegant aromas of honeysuckle, acacia, lilac and poached pear aromas can be appreciated. There is a bit more volume if not quite the same minerality and precision to the beautifully textured flavors that are quite seductive before concluding in a delicious if mildly sweet and warm finish. BH 94 (6/2020): ( from both Pernand and Aloxe.) A ripe, cool and equally restrained nose offers up notes of green apple, floral, an array of citrus and, like the Chevalier, plenty of mineral reduction. There is excellent power and volume to the delicious yet entirely serious broad-shouldered flavors that possess both terrific cut and minerality, all wrapped in a clean, dry and youthfully austere finale. This isn't quite as dense or powerful as the Montrachet but even so, there is much to admire and note well that this too should age exceptionally well. Drink 2033+.
WA 95 (1/2020): The most youthfully reserved wine in the cellar was the 2018 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, a promising bottling that opens up to reveal scents of citrus zest, dried white flowers, green apple and pastry cream. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, with racy acids and prodigious levels of searingly chalky dry extract that lend this wine incredible structure. |

BH 93 (6/2020): Once again there is a discreet whiff of exotic fruit to the white peach, spiced tea and dried yellow fruit aromas where a background hint of viognier creeps in. The caressing and unusually sleek medium-bodied flavors possess fine volume and focused power on the caressing and refreshingly saline-inflected finish. This is particularly good in the context of a very hot and dry vintage which is not usually especially propitious for Criots. Drink 2028+.
WA 94 (1/2020): Aromas of orange oil, honeycomb, ripe pears, wheat toast and paraffin wax introduce the 2018 Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, a full-bodied, ample and textural wine that's fleshy and enveloping but underpinned by an impressively chalky structure that brings unusual tension and grip to this inherently generous terroir. |

BH 97 (6/2020): As good as the Chevalier is, and it's really good, this is arguably the most complex wine in the range with its mix of highly restrained and super-complex white orchard fruit, acacia blossom, citrus, spice, soft oak and jasmine tea aromas. The wonderfully seductive yet beautifully sleek large-scaled flavors bathe the palate in sappy dry extract while delivering superb length on the focused, powerful and beautifully well-balanced finish. This is a magnificent mineral-driven Montrachet and one of the best wines of the 2018 vintage. A genuine 'wow' wine. Drink 2033+.
WA 97 (1/2020): The 2018 Montrachet Grand Cru is brilliant, unfurling in the glass with scents of ripe oranges, fresh pear, peach, buttered citrus, warm pastry and anise. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, textural and enveloping, with superb depth at the core, lively acids and an ineffable sense of completeness, concluding with a long and mineral finish. |

BH 92 (6/2020): (from a parcel of <.33 ha,). There is a discreet whiff of exotic fruit character to the white peach, apricot, petrol and acacia blossom aromas. The rich and solidly voluminous medium-bodied flavors possess very good mid-palate density, all wrapped in a clean, dry and refined finish that is sufficiently firm to reward at least a decade of cellaring. This could use a bit more overall depth, but it should have no trouble developing more with time in bottle. Drink 2028+. Outstanding!

You could nose this all day! The well-balanced palate displays fine poise and focus, offering veins of white peach intermixed with white chocolate and almond before the citrus core takes hold of the steering wheel on the finish. There is outstanding volume to the rich and succulent broad-shouldered flavors that possess focused power on the beautifully long and sappy mineral-infused finish that is shaped by citrus-tinged acidity. This isn't quite as structured as the Chevalier, but it too is promising. Drink 2028+. |

| BH 93 (10/2020): Like the Montée de Tonnerre this is overtly floral in character on the lightly spiced nose that displays additional aromas of mineral reduction, iodine, lemon peel and pear. There is a really lovely sense of verve suffusing the powerful yet reasonably refined larger-scaled flavors that culminate in an almost chewy bone-dry finish thanks to the abundance of sappy dry extract. This muscular effort isn't as refined as the Montée de Tonnerre but it's just as complex and persistent. Drink 2030+. |

WA 95 (8/2021): The 2018 Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses has turned out brilliantly, delivering notes of orange oil, crisp orchard fruit, iodine, white flowers and oyster shell, followed by a full-bodied, ample and enveloping palate that's racy and saline, concluding with a long, electric finish. This is rather open for a young Dauvissat Preuses; and while it should, all things being equal, enjoy a long life, it will be less of a crime than usual to open a bottle or two young.
BH 94 (10/2020): A wonderfully broad-ranging nose is composed by restrained aromas of mineral reduction, floral, pear, apple and iodine scents. As is usually the case this is notably finer if less powerful and intense, indeed the mouthfeel of the cool middle weight flavors is almost delicate though this texture contrasts considerably with the lingering and strikingly complex finish that is, like the La Forest, almost chewy. This hugely long effort is one of the wines of the vintage though note well that patience will be required.
VM 94 (9/2020): The 2018 Chablis Les Preuses Grand Cru has an outstanding nose for the vintage, very well defined with light nutty and smoky aromas. The palate is quite saline on the entry, displaying fine tension. Not as powerful as the 2019 but with an uncharacteristic linearity for the vintage, and more classic in style than many. | BH 93 (10/2020): Once again, the nose is both fresh and ripe and while it's not quite as elegant and airy as the Côte Bouguerots there is every bit as much classic Chablis character. There is a really lovely mouthfeel to the sappy large-bodied flavors thanks to the copious quantity of dry extract that also serves to buffer the moderately firm acid spine on the powerful, punchy and intensely saline-inflected finale. While there is a hint of backend warmth, this beautiful effort should age well while adding depth along the way. |

WA 94 (2/2020): Blockier and denser than the Criots, the 2018 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru unfurls in the glass with scents of honeycomb, orange oil, white flowers and toasted nuts. Full-bodied, fleshy and textural, it's lively and long, its rich core of fruit underpinned by ripe acids. Broad-shouldered and expressive, this will drink well sooner than the tighter-knit 2017.
BH 93 (6/2020): This is at once both fresher and more elegant with its floral suffused aromas of spiced pear, apple, spice and admirably discreet wood. There is good vibrancy if only average density to the sleek, refined and reasonably well-detailed medium weight flavors that display outstanding length on the very dry finale. This needs to develop better depth to achieve my rating but given the lovely balance and tightly wound finish, it has the potential to do so. |

WA 94 (2/2020): Dramatic and expressive, the 2018 Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru exhibits aromas of orange rind, peach, honeyed pears and marzipan. Full-bodied, supple and textural, it's an enveloping but youthfully structured wine that will reward at least a couple of years of bottle age. Céline Gagnard told me that this site handled the hot conditions well.
BH 92? (6/2020): This rachets up the ripeness level even more with its overtly exotic aromas of apricot, peach, tangerine and mango along with a curious hint of caramel. The big-bodied and serious flavors possess a luscious mid-palate though there is plenty of power to the sappy finish that is borderline flat. As the description suggests, this is somewhat awkward and diffuse. It may well recover but it's not clear that this is going to be at its usual excellent level.
VM 91+ (11/2022): The 2018 Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has an open, tropical-tinged bouquet that is quite seductive with all those passion fruit and pineapple scents, but it does not convey a sense of mineralité. It actually becomes more reductive when returning to my glass after 10 minutes. The palate is balanced with a slightly spiced opening, oily in texture (botrytis?) with plenty of extract. Rather dense and muscular towards the finish. Give this two or three years in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting. Neal Martin. |

WA 92-94 (1/2020): There are fully five barrels this year of the 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières (Domaine Louis Jadot), and it's a fine success, unwinding in the class with a classy bouquet of citrus oil, white flowers, crisp Anjou pear, green apple and struck flint. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with a racy spine of acidity and a long, mineral finish.
BH 90-92 (6/2020): Strong SO2 masks everything but a touch of acacia blossom. Once again there is a lovely minerality on the slightly more energetic medium weight flavors that also possess a sophisticated mouthfeel before culminating in a better balanced and notably longer finale. This needs to develop more depth but the development potential appears to be present for that to occur. (Drink starting 2026).
VM 89-91 (1/2020): The 2018 Meursault Perrières 1er Cru clearly has the superior bouquet among the four Premier Crus tasted from Jadot’s Meursault range; there is more mineralité and greater terroir expression here. The palate is well balanced with a soft opening, touches of quince and marmalade dovetailing into a honeyed midpalate that just needs more tension and energy to show through. Starts well, this Perrières, but it has to give more on the finish. (Drink between 2022-2032). Neal Martin. |

This needs to develop more depth but the potential aging curve is such that it should develop in time. Drink 2028+. |

WA 90-92 (2/2020): Mingling aromas of pear and orange oil with hints of pastry cream and citrus blossom in an expressive bouquet, the 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs Gain is medium to full-bodied, supple and enveloping, underpinned by lively acids and concluding with an elegantly perfumed, mineral finish.
BH 89-91 (6/2020): An overtly floral-suffused nose offers up ripe aromas of poached pear, citrus rind and a hint of crushed rosemary. The richer but not necessarily denser middle weight flavors also possess a relatively refined mouthfeel before culminating in a saline, balanced and focused finale. This lilting effort will need to add a bit more depth to merit the upper end of my projected range. (Drink starting 2024). |

| BH 91 (6/2021): A mild touch of reduction is sufficiently subtle to permit the notes of white flowers, citrus rind and discreet wood to be discerned. There is an attractive sense of underlying tension to the delicious medium weight flavors that possess focused power and good delineation on the lingering finish that flirts with rusticity. This well-made effort needs to develop more depth but it appears to have the requisite density to do so. (Drink starting 2028). |

| BH 97 (6/2021): (from 3 parcels on the Chassagne side that total .68 ha.) Discreet wood is present on the exuberantly spicy and markedly exotic nose of passion fruit, dried peach, apricot, fennel, jasmine tea and hints of clove. The incredibly rich broad-shouldered flavors coat the palate with an abundance of dry extract that imparts a thick and textured, indeed almost chewy, character to the lavish and generous finish that is at once fantastically powerful yet impeccably well-balanced, compact and youthfully austere finale that just goes on and on. In the context of the last 5 vintages, this is not the most concentrated of them for the Domaine's Montrachet, but the length is genuinely dazzling as is the upside develop potential. Drink 2033+. |
