Casalferro Toscana IGT |
$35 |

|
VM 92 (10/2016): Brolio's 2013 Casalferro (Merlot) is terrific. The firm tannins are going to need time to soften, but there is good aromatic intrigue and plenty of depth. This is an especially savory style of Merlot with plenty of Tuscan acidity and savoriness to balance the overt, dark-fleshed fruit. (Drink between 2017-2025.) Antonio Galloni. |

Falanghina del Sannio Bianco |

|
VM 90 (11/2019): Straw-green. Lively aromas of lime, white pepper, tangerine and pear. Fresh and juicy but also dense, offering savory herbal and balsamic flavors that linger nicely on the long, zingy finish. (Drink between 2019-2020.) |

Barbaresco Curra |
$89 |

VM 94 (10/2014): The 2012 Currà is the most promising of Sottimano's 2012 Barbarescos. Bright, floral at the outset, the Currà has a level of explosiveness and intensity the other 2012s in the range don't have, at least today. Rose petal, bright red fruit and cinnamon add nuance as this precise, classy Barbaresco shows off its tremendous appeal. Layers of bracing Currà vibrancy through the mid-palate and finish leave a lasting impression. WS 94 (9/2016): Offers a tightly woven fabric permeated by cherry, currant, eucalyptus and tobacco flavors. Though firm and dusty, the tannins are offset with enough fruit and density for balance. The finish is austere now, but this will find equilibrium in time. Best from 2018 through 2028. 200 cases made. |

Barbaresco Fausoni |

|
VM 93 (10/2017): The 2014 Barbaresco Fausoni is all grace. Aromatic and lifted, with striking inner perfume and sweetness, the 2014 Fausoni is a terrific example of the year. Sweet red cherry, red plum, rose petal and mint infuse this pliant, super-expressive Barbaresco. In many years, Fausoni can be a bit lean, but in 2014, the late-ripening season allow for the full ripeness of fruit and tannin. What a gorgeous wine this is. Antonio Galloni. JS 92 (10/2017): Layered and chewy with chocolate, tea and leather character to the dried fruit. Medium to full body. Good fruit for the year and a clean finish. Wait for a year or two to soften. WS 91 (12/2017): Shades of spice augment the cherry and medicinal herb flavors in this savory red. A firm line of dusty tannins holds court on the finish despite the relatively open texture. Best from 2019 through 2033. 400 cases made. WA 91 (4/2018): This Nebbiolo shows amber and garnet hues over a lean and delicate appearance. The 2014 Barbaresco Fausoni is broad and accessible in character. The bouquet really puts it all out there and holds nothing back. It delivers bright fruit, spice and white licorice. The fruit feels a degree riper and darker in this unusual vintage that ended with a blast of pre-harvest heat following a cool summer. The Fausoni vineyard is home to 45-year-old vines. |

Barbaresco Pajore |
$59 |

|
VM 93 (10/2014): The 2012 Barbaresco Pajore shows the pedigree of this great site in its balance of fruit, acidity and tannin. Like all the wines in this vintage, the Pajore is a mid-weight Barbaresco, but here it is the wine's textural finesse that impresses above all else. Chalky tannins underpin flowers, spices, tangerine peel and star anise on the expressive, floral finish. WA 93 (6/2015): The 2012 Barbaresco Pajore is a wine that exudes balance and harmony. The wine is absolutely intact in all its elements and there's a sense of continuity here that sets it apart. As it warms in the glass, this beautiful Barbaresco takes on greater aromatic intensity with its floral tones that blossom brighter and the fruity tones that emerge steadily from the bouquet. Spice, leather and grilled herb linger delicately at the back. The Barbaresco Pajore is a beautiful wine. JS 90 (10/2015): A 2012 Barbaresco with a light color, but it shows delicious dried-cherry, strawberry and stone aromas and flavors. Medium body, fresh finish. Fresh, linear style. Drink now. WS 89 (6/2015): An elegant, strawberry-, herb- and tobacco-infused red, with light cherry and licorice notes. On the firm side, with moderate length. Best from 2017 through 2023. 400 cases made. |

2018 |
Il Pareto |
$75 |

|
|
VM 84 (9/2021): The 2018 Il Pareto is virtually impossible to identify as Cabernet Sauvignon, as the tannins are searingly intense and overpowering. Inky dark fruit, chocolate and new leather struggle to emerge. (Drink between 2022-2026.) Antonio Galloni. |
