| Decanter 94 (3/2024): Crisp, very clean and precise citrus flavours. Quite austere, but more vibrant than the 2020, with a long finish, this exhibits a return to the classic, dry wines of the Loire before the effects of climate change became apparent. Very serious early frosts between 6-8 April caused the domaine to lose 70% of its crop. Overall, the year was cooler than other recent vintages with selective picking on 17, 24 and 25 September, and a yield of only 7hl/ha. Vinified and aged in a mix of wooden casks, demi-muids and barriques averaging five years old for 21 months, followed by a further 12 months in stainless steel. Bottled early June 2023. Clos des Ruchères, just 0.4ha on clay over schist, adjoins the base of the La Roche aux Moines, just as the road from Savennières turns left to climb up to Epiré. In 2020 there were no spring frosts but plenty of rain followed by a hot, dry summer and a little rain before harvest. The clos was picked on 18 September yielding 25hl/ha. Vinified and aged for 26 months in demi-muids (600 litre) and barriques (228 litre), with full malolactic fermentation and bottled in early June 2021. (Drink between 2024-2055) |

| VM 90 (7/2023): The 2021 Chambrates is an intriguing, characterfully flavored wine. A distinctive minty character meets fennel and pear and then a blackcurrant hint.
