WA 94 (6/2011): The 2000 Barolo Cascina Francia is beautifully fleshy and supple in its radiant red fruit, freshly cut roses and licorice. The 2000 is a wonderfully open, seductive vintage for Cascina Francia, yet the wine has more than enough freshness to drink well for many, many years. At times, the 2000 tastes like it could have been made yesterday! Round, silky tannins frame the generous finish. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2030.
VM 91+ (12/2004): Medium red with an amber edge. Aromas of baked strawberry, dried rose and marzipan. Sweet, lush and rather soft for a Conterno Barolo, but lifted by a floral perfume and sappy acidity. Densely packed, vinous and long, with a fragrant tobacco note on the aftertaste. |

| VM 96 (6/2011): Oddly enough, from magnum, the 2000 Barolo is magnificent, with none of the imperfections I have found in so many of my bottles. The wine shows considerable 2000 personality in its warm, radiant fruit, but the large format has maintained freshness and verve. Readers who can find the 2000 in magnum will want to consider it. VM 93 (6/2011): The 2000 Barolo Margheria is a touch more forward than the Parafada, but also shows the more traditional arc of development I expect in a wine of this age. Smoke, tar, leather and licorice are some of the nuances that emerge from this beautifully delineated Barolo. There is still plenty of freshness in the fruit to balance the early tertiary notes that have begun to appear. Silky tannins frame a finish that turns juicy and immensely rewarding. Antonio Galloni.
WA 90 (8/2005): The 2000 Barolo Margheria presents a complex nose of black cherries, chocolate, anise, and roses in a large-framed, intense format with an expanding volume and length. Drink: 2005-2017. |

| VM 93 (8/2010): Dark berries, plums, espresso and spices come to life in the 2000 Montevetrano. Stylistically the 2000 emphasizes a soft, seamless expression of fruit over well-articulated aromatics. Though not the most complex Montevetrano, the 2000 impresses for its remarkable harmony, integration and sheer opulence, all of which make it a terrific vintage for drinking now and over the next decade. | WA 95 (12/2002): Impressive is the opaque purple-colored 2000 Giusto dei Notri, a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc aged 20 months in 100% new French oak before being bottled without filtration. It requires decanting to strut its stuff, but it is phenomenally rich with notes of blackberries, creosote, truffles, vanilla, and licorice presented in a full-bodied, powerful, concentrated style with remarkable precision and harmony for a wine of such massive intensity and richness. The finish lasts for 40-45 seconds. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2020. |
