JD 95 (3/2021): A blend of two-thirds Sauvignon and one-third Sémillon that was brought up mostly in used barrels, the 2018 Château Cos D'Estournel Blanc has a bright gold hue as well as outstanding notes of tart pineapple, white flowers, lemon zest, and white grapefruit. This carries to a medium to full-bodied, bright, racy white with plenty of texture and richness, a notable sense of chalky minerality, and a great finish. This stunning white will keep for 10-15 years. (Drink between 2021-2036). JS 95 (1/2021): A blend of two-thirds Sauvignon and one-third Sémillon that was brought up mostly in used barrels, the 2018 Château Cos D'Estournel Blanc has a bright gold hue as well as outstanding notes of tart pineapple, white flowers, lemon zest, and white grapefruit. This carries to a medium to full-bodied, bright, racy white with plenty of texture and richness, a notable sense of chalky minerality, and a great finish. This stunning white will keep for 10-15 years. WA 94+ (3/2021): The 2018 Blanc is composed of 67% Sauvignon Blanc and 33% Sémillon and was matured in 7% new barriques (13.88% alcohol). It opens very slowly, with a lot of coaxing, to reveal fragrant scents of lime blossoms, yellow apples and fresh grapefruit plus hints of crushed rocks, straw and sea spray. The medium-bodied palate has a beautiful satiny texture and fantastically intense citrus and apple layers with loads of mineral and herbal sparks on the long finish. Give it a good couple of years in bottle to open up, and drink it over the following 10 to 12 years or more. VM 93 (3/2021): The 2018 Cos d'Estournel Blanc is creamy and expressive in the glass, with the natural resonance of the Sémillon very much front and center. Lemon confit, dried flowers, chamomile, marzipan and sage open effortlessly in the glass. This is a decidedly fresh, vibrant style. (Drink between 2021-2030). Antonio Galloni. |

WA 90-92 (4/2019): The 2018 Blanc de Lynch Bages is showing a little reduction, opening out to notions of warm peaches, passion fruit and gooseberries plus suggestions of honeysuckle, coriander seed and chalk dust. Medium-bodied, the palate is completely filled with tropical and citrus flavors plus a racy backbone, finishing long with a touch of chalkiness. WS 90-93 (4/2019): A lively thyme note pierces the core of white peach and white asparagus flavors. Offers a racy edge, with jasmine and white peach details in reserve. VM 87-88 (5/2019): The 2018 Lynch-Bages Blanc is a pleasant, easygoing white to drink young, while the citrus and floral notes remain vibrant. The Blanc is 59% Sauvignon Blanc, 21% Semillon and 20% Muscadelle. Antonio Galloni. JD 90-92 (5/2019): From vines just to the west of the estate and mostly Sauvignon Blanc, the 2018 Château Lynch-Bages Blanc is a solid effort, offering classic notes of lemon curd, white flowers, and subtle minerality, medium body, good freshness and purity, and a clean, dry finish. JS 92-93 (4/2019): A fresh and fruity white with sliced-apple and lemon character. Layered and a hint of tannic texture. Lemon zest and lots of energy. |

JS 98 (1/2021): Beautiful aromas of lime curd, dried pear, grilled white peach and flint on the nose. So exotic on the nose. Some cream and honey, too. It’s medium-bodied with bright, tangy acidity. Creamy and focused with lingering dried-citrus and crushed-gravel notes. Long. Drink or hold. WS 96 (3/2021): A beauty from the start, with shortbread, acacia and honeysuckle details leading the way, quickly followed by fennel, tarragon, salted butter and lemon peel notes. Long, focused finish is carried by superfine acidity that puts everything in perfect lock step. Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadelle. Best from 2022 through 2030. 1,665 cases made. WA 95 (3/2021): The 2018 Blanc is a blend of 57% Sauvignon Blanc, 39% Semillon and 4% Muscadelle. It was aged for around 14 months in 55% new and 45% second-fill French oak barrels. It races out of the gate with flamboyant scents of pineapple upside-down cake, lemon meringue pie and honey-drizzled peaches, plus suggestions of orange blossoms and yuzu peel. The medium to full-bodied palate has a decadent touch of oiliness to the texture with loads of spicy sparks to the tropical fruit layers, finishing long with a refreshing burst of zestiness. It's a richer expression, for sure, but it really works and it is seriously scrumptious. JD 94 (3/2021): This estate has fashioned a pretty, elegant white in the vintage. Light gold-hued, with lots of pineapple, lemon curd, white flowers, and a touch of honeyed citrus and chalky minerality, the 2018 Château Pape Clement Blanc hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, solid depth of fruit, and a great finish. It doesn't match recent great vintages, but it's a balanced, layered, outstanding white to enjoy over the coming decade or so. VM 93 (3/2021): The 2018 Pape Clement Blanc is quite pretty and understated. Lemon confit, marzipan, white flowers, mint and chamomile all grace this wonderfully expressive dry white from proprietor Bernard Magrez. As with all of these wines, the Blanc is done in a less opulent style than in the past, an approach that works beautifully here. Antonio Galloni. |

| VM 93 (3/2021): The 2018 Rieussec does come across a little oaky on the nose, although that is always the case here. Underneath lies plenty of honeyed fruit and touches of lemon curd, almond and apricot. The palate is well balanced, offering very pure honeyed fruit laced with vanilla, almond and hints of nougat, and more apricot and peach toward the finish. This will be a very seductive Rieussec, but afford it 4–5 years to fully assimilate the oak. NEal Martin. |

WA 94-96 (4/2019): The Smith Haut Lafitte 2018 Blanc is composed of 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Semillon and 5% Sauvignon Gris, aging in 50% new oak barriques. It features intense scents of lime leaves, pink grapefruit, white peaches and green mango with hints of yuzu, lemon meringue pie, crushed rocks and coriander seed. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is laden with energetic citrus and stone fruit layers, with a satiny texture and bold freshness, finishing long and mineral laced. WS 94-97 (4/2019): Already very full in feel, with alluring tangerine, verbena, orange blossom, bitter almond and brioche notes. Long and lush, this is coming together in a hurry and is set to be one of the showier wines of the vintage. VM 91-94 (5/2019): The 2018 Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc is gorgeous. One of the more pure, crystalline wines of the year, the Blanc is airy, lifted and very pretty. Time in the glass brings out attractive textural richness and creaminess in the lemon peel, floral and mint notes, with light tropical overtones that develop on the finish. In 2018, the Blanc is a wine of real brilliance and class. Tasted two times. Antonio Galloni. JD 96-98 (5/2019): The grand vin is the 2018 Château Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc, which is mostly Sauvignon Blanc with 5% each of Semillon and Sauvignon Gris, that’s being brought up in 50% new French oak. Deeper, richer, yet still racy and vibrant, it has gorgeous notes of tart pineapple, crushed citrus, salty minerality, and white flowers. Rich, concentrated, medium to full-bodied, it's unquestionably one of the whites of the vintage. JS 97-98 (4/2019): This is very dense and deep with glorious fruit and a creamy textured, very long finish. A superb young white. Energetic yet textured. Lots of sliced-lemon, lime and apple character with some cream. Top. |

WA 98 (10/2020): The 2018 d'Yquem is all lime cordial, grapefruit oil and mandarin peel to begin. With a little coaxing, the fireworks really begin, letting off a whole array of honeysuckle, candied ginger, dried pineapple, lemon pastilles, chalk dust and sea spray scents, followed by a savory undercurrent of shaved almonds, allspice and baking bread. The palate is an exercise in polish and poise, featuring the most gorgeously creamy texture and bright, sparkling freshness, framing all the densely laden tropical and citrus fruit layers, finishing with a powerful BANG of profound floral and spice perfume. It is wonderfully sweet, yes, but that—paradoxically for a "sweet wine"—is almost beside the point. WS 96 (3/2021): A beauty from start to finish, with fresh, racy notes of honeysuckle, quinine and mirabelle plum leading off, followed by richer quince, creamed pear and white nectarine flavors. Everything melds through the finish, picking up macadamia nut and brioche accents to complete the seduction. Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Best from 2025 through 2045. 4,166 cases made. JS 97 (9/2020): An extremely polished and refined d’Yquem with lightly cooked peaches and mangos and an overlay of vanilla and cream with some lemon meringue. Orange peel, too. What is striking is the texture, which is creamy and so fine. The tannins give the wine energy and beauty. The finish is extremely long and impressive. So clean and refined. Not heavy at all, but vivid and clean as crystal. Goes on for minutes. Elegance with stature is a good description. Drinkable now, but better in 2023 and onwards. |
