Spare Me Cabernet Sauvignon |

WA 91 (12/2008): Composed of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17% Merlot, the 380-case cuvee of 2006 Spare Me possesses a dense ruby/purple hue, aromas of underbrush, black cherries, black currants, smoke, and background wood, medium to full body, and an elegant style. It represents a California version of a ripe St.-Emilion. It, too, should last for a decade or more. |

WA 90 (3/2015): The 2007 Pinot Noir Evenstad Reserve has adequate brambly red fruit on the nose with touches of black truffle and pine coming through. The palate is classic and leafy in style, well balanced with fine acidity and a slightly austere but persistent finish. Reserved and understated and yet full of personality. WS 89 (5/2011): Crisp tannins surround a sweet core of berry, spice and coffee flavors that linger on the taut finish. Shows signs of opening up nicely. Best from 2012 through 2015. 9,874 cases made. BH 89 (10/2011): Like the Bradford, this is a relatively ripe '07 with pure, elegant and complex aromas of red and dark berry fruit dissolving into fresh, intense and well-detailed flavors that possess a beguiling texture. There is good mid-palate fat that coats the mouth on the balanced, sappy and solidly persistent finish where a touch of wood surfaces. This is really quite pretty but it doesn't offer the sheer depth of the Bradford. Drink now+. |

VM 88 (12/2016): Unity's 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of fruit from Alexander Valley and Napa. There is good depth and intensity to the dark cherry, plum, mocha, chocolate, game and tobacco flavors, although some rough edges remain. This is a distinctly gamy, powerful style. Antonio Galloni. |

VM 87+? (12/2004): Good full medium ruby. Currant, plum, baking spices and nutty oak on the nose. Sweet, spicy and bright; a step up in concentration from the CMS bottling. But this too is a bit clenched in the middle and finishes with building, somewhat drying tannins. Will this reward aging? Stephan Tanzer. WA 87 (8/2004): The medium to dark ruby-colored 2002 Three Vineyards offers sweet waxy aromas of blackberries. Fresh, broad, and tannic, this is a muscular, medium to full-bodied wine with a rustic edge. |

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon |

WA 93 (6/2015): From a vineyard at the southern end of Napa Valley, at 300-foot elevation, planted in fractured volcanic bedrock, this 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon is a major sleeper of the vintage. Gorgeously dense and vibrant, an opaque blue/purple color and floral notes mixed with subtle earth, creme de cassis and blueberry liqueur are present in the provocative and complex aromatics. The wine is medium to full-bodied, but has terrific acidity and minerality. This attractive and intriguing, well-crafted, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon (14.5% alcohol) merits serious attention. It is young, but certainly accessible, yet I envision another 4-5 years of bottle age would be beneficial. This wine is certainly capable of lasting 15 or more years. Bravo! |

JD 94 (1/2019): There are two Chardonnays. The 2017 Chardonnay Sonoma County is a beauty and has a big perfume of caramelized pineapple, tangerine, and toasted oak. It’s rich, medium-bodied, and beautifully textured, with plenty of length. It’s seriously good Chardonnay that has richness and freshness. |
