| VM 93 (5/2008): Light red. Intensely perfumed bouquet displays wild strawberry, raspberry, dried rose, minerals and cinnamon. Red berry flavors offer power without any impression of weight, picking up floral pastille and baking spice flavors with air. Suave finishing notes of red berries and candied cherry linger impressively. Delicious now, but my past experience with Thomas's wines tells me that this will easily repay a decade of cellaring. | VM 92 (5/2009): Light red. Complex aromas of strawberry, cherry skin, dried rose, smoked meat and musky underbrush. With air, the wine's fruit and floral qualities come to the fore and carry onto the palate. Silky and alluringly sweet, with good tangy mineral cut and an impressively long, sappy finish. Really benefits from aeration, so decant this if you plan to open a bottle anytime soon. Josh Raynolds. |

| VM 92 (7/2010): Bright medium red. High-toned, spice-accented aromas of wild strawberry, pomegranate, cherry and rhubarb, with subtle nuances of dried rose and smoked meat adding complexity. Silky in texture yet refreshingly brisk, with sweet red berry flavors and hints of Asian spices and herbs in the background. Gains some richness with air and finishes with excellent spicy length. This wine is already complex but its lively acidity suggests that a few more years of patience will be rewarded. Incidentally, Thomas's 2002 and 2004 bottlings are still surprisingly primary based on bottles I've drunk in the last few months. These wines rarely bowl you over with power but they are very reliable agers. |

| VM 93 (10/2015): Vivid red. Smoky, mineral-laced aromas of redcurrant, cherry pit, succulent flowers and orange pith. Sappy and penetrating on the palate, offering intense red and dark berry and floral pastille flavors sharpened by zesty acidity. Packs a serious punch and comes off as energetic and lithe, with slowly building tannins giving shape to a long finish tinged with flowers and earth. Here’s an example of a 2011 that offers the vivacity that fans of the vintage love but none of the greenness that plagues many ‘11s It's little wonder that so many Burgundy aficionados, this writer included, count this small producer as one of their favorite New World sources for Pinot Noir. | VM 93 (12/2016): Brilliant red. Vibrant aromas of red berry liqueur, Asian spices and rose oil, accompanied by smoky mineral and cola accents. Silky, penetrating raspberry, cherry and floral pastille flavors show excellent depth as well as vivacity thanks to a core of tangy juicy that adds lift and spine. Delivers plenty of flavor, as is the norm from this vintage, but there's a light touch as well, which one would expect from this winery. The very long, gently tannic finish features a subtle hint of smoked meat and leaves behind a refreshingly bitter cherry skin note. Josh Raynolds. |
