| JD 98 (10/2019): The 2016 Nuestra Senora Del Tercer Gemelo, named after Our Lady of Guadalupe, is based on 53% Mourvèdre, 16% Syrah, 14% Grenache, and the rest Petite Sirah, Graciano, and Viognier, aged 31 months in 42% new French oak. It boasts a huge, powerful bouquet of ripe currants, white chocolate, white pepper, and graphite. This carries to a full-bodied wine that shows more Mourvèdre spice and meaty notes with time in the glass, has a stacked mid-palate, and a blockbuster finish. This is a big, rich wine yet, like everything from the Krankls, it stays incredibly balanced and weightless. Mourvèdre can shut down quickly, so I’d lean toward trying bottles on release or giving then a good 4-5 years in the cellar. |

| JD 98+ (8/2022): The 2019 Nuestra Senora Del Tercer Gemelo comes from the Third Twin estate vineyard, which was purchased in 2000. At that time, the vineyard covered 14.33 acres planted to Syrah and Petite Sirah, and the Krankls planted a mix of different varieties starting in 2011. Today, the estate covers just over 35 acres, and this is a cooler, sandy terroir. The wine sports a deep purple hue as well as a monster bouquet of blackberries, Italian leather, dried herbs, smoke tobacco, and pepper. Full-bodied on the palate, it's another seamless, perfectly balanced red from this team that somehow manages to bring incredible richness and power while staying flawlessly balanced and elegance. A blend of 33% Grenache, 23.5% Syrah, 19% each of Mourvèdre and Petite Sirah, and the rest Graciano and Muscat, fermented with 19% whole clusters, it shows the more elegant, refined, silky style of this terroir beautifully. I like it today, but smart money will give bottles 2-4 years in the cellar. It should have 15-20 years of overall longevity. |

| JD 98 (8/2023): More black and blue fruits as well as leather, iron, and smoked herb notes emerge from the 2020 Nuestra Senora Del Tercer Gemelo, and it picks up more dried flowers, spice, and sandalwood notes as it sits in the glass. Based on 54% Mourvèdre, 22% Grenache, 11% Syrah, and the rest Petite Sirah, Graciano, and Viognier, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a dark, layered, exotic style, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. It's a singular, complex, nuanced beauty that will have two decades of overall longevity. |

WA 98+ (8/2021): Deep purple-black colored, the glass needed a fair bit of swirling to unlock this wine’s wonderfully pure scents of baked black plums, blackberry pie and boysenberries, leading to an undercurrent of fruitcake, Indian spices, unsmoked cigars and cracked black pepper. The full-bodied palate is a powerhouse of fruit, bursting with black berry preserves and exotic spice layers, framed with a solid line of firm, ripe tannins and wonderful freshness, finishing with incredible persistence and purity. This beautiful monster of a wine should be pretty much indestructible, capable of cellaring for 40+ years. Drink between 2026-2061. VM 96 (8/2024): The 2021 Nuestra Senora del Tercer Gemelo offers a capitvating mix of opulent fruit and energy, all framed by judicious French oak and silky tannins. A dense, full-bodied wine, the Nuestra Senora has so much to offer, starting with its immediacy. This full-throttle red is undeniably glorious. The blend is 57% Mourvedre, 14% Grenache, 14% Graciano, 14% Syrah, and 1% Viognier, done with 33% stems. It spent 31 months in French oak, 31% new. Drink between 2025-2036. Antonio Galloni. |
