WA 82 (10/1993): Justin Meyer's weakest vintage over the last decade has been 1988. Both the 1988 Alexander Valley and Napa Cabernets are light wines, lacking the concentration, intensity, and joy that Silver Oak Cabernets normally provide.

Decanter 94 (6/2025): Rich and alluring, with ripe currant and red berry fruit, pressed flowers and loamy earth. Framed by taut, mineral-rich tannins with layers of currant fruit woven around black truffle. The lengthy finish sees those firm tannins beginning to resolve, turning increasingly earthy. A wild herb character and an overall freshness factor leave a lasting impression. 94.8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4.2% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc. (Drink between 2025-2042).

VM 91 (1/2026): The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley is very closed aromatically, but it entices with its darker, more concentrated character than its typical red-fruited personality. The tannins are very, very subtle, pointing to a wine that feels like a medium-term proposition. Mocha, graphite, incense, leather and blackcurrant flavors saturate the palate, leaving behind an echo of American oak spice. (Drink between 2026-2033). Antonio Galloni.
