| JD 90 (11/2017): Checking in as 100% Merlot, the 2015 Saintayme from Denis Durantou is another terrific value from this vintage. Loaded with notions of red currants, black cherries, dried earth and hints of toasty oak, it has beautiful fruit, a plump, mouth-filling texture, ripe tannin a great finish. It has the ripe, sexy fruit of the vintage and will keep for 7-8 years, if not longer. |

JD 92 (2/2019): Checking in as all Merlot and made by Denis Durantou (of l’Eglise Clinet), the stunning 2016 Saintayme knocks it out of the park. Deep purple-colored with a rock star nose of plums, black raspberries, crushed violets, and some obvious minerality, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, an elegant texture, good mid-palate concentration, and a great finish. It’s complex, elegant, and powerful. Bravo! Readers should snatch up this beauty and enjoy bottles over the coming decade. WA 91 (11/2018): The 2016 Saintayme has a medium garnet-purple color and opens with cedary scents over a core of black and red plums, kirsch and unsmoked cigars plus a touch of smoked meats. Medium to full-bodied and packed with savory layers, it has a solid frame of grainy tannins and a nice, long finish. VM 91 (1/2019): The 2016 Saintayme is quite deep in color. The bouquet unfurls gradually to reveal blackberry, briar and light cedar aromas, all gentle and refined. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm tannins on the entry, a slightly chalky texture and a fine bead of acidity. This is a more masculine Saintayme compared to other vintages, displaying more grip and salinity toward the finish. I suspect that, given its amazing value, this will be consumed early, but personally, I would stash it away for three or four years, because it has more to give. Neal Martin. JS 93 (1/2019): Beautiful aromas of blackberries and blueberries with licorice. Medium-bodied, juicy and delicious with lots of succulent fruit and a hazelnut and berry aftertaste. Delicious already. Drink or hold. |

WA 89-91 (6/2020): Produced by Denis Darantou and family of Château L’Eglise-Clinet, made from 100% Merlot, the 2019 Saintayme has a deep garnet-purple color. It explodes from the glass with bombastic notes of stewed plums, baked black cherries and fruitcake with hints of mocha, unsmoked cigars and fragrant soil plus a waft of Chinese five spice. Medium to full-bodied, rich and decadent in the mouth, it has a solid foundation of chewy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing spicy. JS 93-94 (6/2020): A red with lovely, juicy character and plenty of ripe fruit and chocolate undertones. It’s rich and layered. Flavorful. More concentration than the 2018. |

JD 92-94 (4/2026): Coming from cooler limestone soils and harvested between September 10th and 18th, the 2025 Saintayme is still resting in 30% new oak. It sports a deep ruby hue as well as classic aromatics of ripe black raspberries, currants, chalky minerality, graphite, and violets. On the palate, it's rich and medium to full-bodied, with a concentrated mouthfeel and outstanding length. I'd certainly be happy with a case or more in the cellar, and the tannins of the vintage are beautifully managed here. VM 91-93 (4/2026): The 2025 Saintayme is a gorgeous Saint-Émilion from the Durantou sisters. This is the first year in which the blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc as opposed to the 100% Merlot of past years. Intense red-toned fruit, flowers, citrus and spice—all Franc signatures—soar across the palate. The 2025 is vibrant and so expressive right out of the gate. It's a total delight. Antonio Galloni. JA 92 (4/2026): You can easily read the terroir here, feel the juice and slate texture of the St Emilion soils, so different from the character of Pomerol in this particular vintage. Here expect rose petals, rose bud, blueberry, saffron, orange peel. Harvest September 10 to 20. 40% new oak. Harvest September 3 to 12, Noemie Durantou winemaker. |
