Creative Impulse DuBrul Vyd. Cabernet Sauvignon |
$59 |

|
| |
| JD 95 (6/2011): Rasa’s 2008 Rasa Vineyards Creative Impulse DuBrul Vineyard is a beauty! A blend of 69% Cabernet and 31% Merlot that was aged for 30 months in 60% new French oak, the wine delivers brilliant aromas of black currant and brambly blackberry styled fruits that are intermixed with lead pencil, meat juice, tobacco, and background floral nuances. This is followed by a full bodied, impressively balanced wine that possesses a mouth-filling, rich texture that stays light and airy, good acidity, sweet fruit, and a long, structured finish. It should evolve positively for 3-5 years, and drink well through 2025. A serious, beautifully done wine. |

Creative Impulse DuBrul Vyd. Cabernet Sauvignon |
$99 |

|
| |
| WA 94 (6/2013): Similarly styled, yet with a sweeter core of fruit and less herbal notes, the 2010 Creative Impulse DuBrul Vineyard is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot that spent 28 months in 60% new French oak. A big, spice-laced and already complex 2010, it exhibits black raspberry-like fruit, spice-cabinet, toast, tobacco and dry aged beef qualities along with a full-bodied, decadent and creamily textured mouthfeel. As with the Perfect Union, it has solid, age-worthy structure under all of its fruit and will have 15+ years or more of prime drinking. Decant if drinking anytime soon. Drink 2016-2025. |

2012 |
Creative Impulse DuBrul Vyd. Cabernet Sauvignon |
$109 |
5 |
|
| |
| WA 94 (6/2015): Coming all from the Dubrul Vineyard in Yakima Valley and a blend of 59% Cabernet Sauvignon and 41% Merlot, the 2012 Creative Impulse Dubrul Vineyard has a more savory character in its black and red currants, black cherry, toasted spice, tobacco and dried-herb bouquet. This gives way to a big, ripe, layered and sexy 2012 that has medium to full-bodied richness, a rocking core of sweet fruit and a big finish. Like all of the wines here, the tannin is nicely polished and builds incrementally through the mid-palate and finish. Much more red fruit and spice-driven than the other Bordeaux blends here, it's not a classic Cabernet, yet has tons of character and should have 15 years or more of longevity, and drink nicely for most of it! |

2012 |
Fianchetto XL Vyd. Proprietary Blend |
$75 |
3 |
|
| |
| WA 93 (6/2015): Another new wine in 2012, the 2012 Fianchetto is a blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Cabernet Franc and 22% Merlot, all from the XL Vineyard in Walla Walla. Its dark ruby, mostly opaque color is followed by a big, powerful and ripe 2012 that has loads of dark fruits, tobacco leaf, toasted spices, hints of lead pencil and a touch of graphite all soaring from the glass. Possessing tons of fruit, a big mid-palate and a heady, lengthy finish, this blockbuster effort will be even better in another 1-2 years, and drink admirably through at least 2027. |

In Order to Form a More Perfect Union |
$69 |

|
| |
| JD 96 (6/2012): The first vintage for this wine and a blend of 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, and 23% Cabernet Franc that was aged in 60% new French oak, the 2009 Rasa Vineyards In Order to Form a More Perfect Union delivers spectacular aromatics, a seamless, full-bodied texture, and blockbuster length on the finish. Showing notes of crème de cassis, tobacco, charred toast, sweet oak, and spice cabinet on the nose, this stays gorgeously light, elegant, and fresh on the palate, while at the same time showing fantastic intensity, a concentrated mid-palate, and ripe tannin that emerges with more time in the glass. This is impressive any way you slice it, and while it is no doubt a spectacular drink now, it deserves 4-5 years of bottle age, and should keep for upwards of two decades. |

In Order to Form a More Perfect Union |
$69 |

|
| |
| WA 93 (6/2014): The 2011 In Order To Form A More Perfect Union checks in as a blend of 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Giving up plenty of cedar, spice box, spring flowers and black currant styled aromas and flavors, this medium to full-bodied, layered and seamless effort has juicy acidity, excellent concentration (especially in the vintage) and superb underlying structure. It will evolve nicely over the coming 3 to 4 years and drink well through 2026. |

In Order to Form a More Perfect Union |
$69 |

|
| |
| WA 93+ (6/2015): Checking in as a blend of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc, 20% Merlot and the balance Petit Verdot, the 2012 In Order to Form A More Perfect Union is both a classic Washington State Bordeaux blend, as well as a classic wine from this estate. It exhibits a deep ruby, mostly opaque color to go with lots of blackcurrants, grilled toast, graphite and dried-violet aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, pure, silky and yet still savory and focused, with a light, balanced feel, good acidity, and plenty of fine tannin that show on the chocolate-laced finish, it's a beautiful wine that can be drunk anytime over the coming 10-15 years. |

2009 |
Plus One Kiona Vyd. Cabernet Sauvignon |
$89 |
3 |
|
| |
| JD 95 (6/2012): Showing superb Cabernet character, as well as the minerality and tannin structure of Red Mountain, the 2009 Rasa Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Plus One Kiona Vineyard is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and was aged half in new French oak, and half in neutral barrel. It exhibits classic Cabernet aromas of black currant and creamy blackberry styled fruit that’s intermixed with notions of freshly crushed stone, roasted meats, sweet oak, and spice box on the nose. This flows to a full-bodied, gorgeously proportioned wine that has fantastic concentration, a layered, seamless texture, and building tannin that emerges with time in the glass. There’s plenty of structure here; give bottles 3-4 years in the cellar, and then plan on drinking over the following 15+ years. |

Plus One Kiona Vyd. Cabernet Sauvignon |
$89 |
2 |
|
| |
| WA 93 (6/2013): Starting the Bordeaux varieties, the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Kiona Vineyard Plus One is an outstanding effort that reveals an overall fresh, pure profile. Jammy black raspberry, creme brulee, underbrush and floral nuances all emerge from the glass and it is supple, full-bodied and surprisingly polished on the palate. While it lacks the sheer brilliance found in the 2009, it is still an outstanding wine. Gaining additional complexity with air, as well as a serious kick of acidity, it should drink nicely for 8-10 years. Drink now-2020. |

2012 |
Plus One Kiona Vyd. Cabernet Sauvignon |
$89 |

|
| |
| WA 92 (6/2015): Showing slightly more oak and chocolate than the Perfect Union release, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Kiona Vineyard Plus One offers lots of chocolaty dark fruits, espresso, roasted herbs and graphite to go with a medium to full-bodied, elegant, nicely textured and structured profile on the palate. Shining for its elegance and balance, drink it anytime over the coming 10-15 years. |

2007 |
Principia Reserve Syrah |
$89 |
2 |
|
| |
| JD 96 (5/2010): A reserve release and 100% Syrah from 5 vineyards (the bulk of the blend is from Les Collines), the 2007 Rasa Vineyards PRINCIPIA is named after Sir Isaac Newton’s Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica (known as Principia). The wine is aged for 23 months in 30% new French oak and offers up a spectacular bouquet of blackberry and cassis fruit, spice, graphite, crème brûlée, and smoke. This puppy is decadent but also fresh and edgy. On the palate, it’s beautifully balanced with medium to full body, a light, seamless texture and a exceptionally long finish. One of the top wines from Washington, this is beautiful now and should continue to drink well over the next 12 to 15 years. (Drink between 2010-2025) |

2008 |
Principia Reserve Syrah |
$79 |
5 |
|
| |
| JD 94+ (6/2011): A blend of 100% Syrah that’s sourced from 4 separate vineyards (Les Collines Vineyard, Seven Hills Vineyard, Lewis Vineyard, and Portteus Vineyard), the 2008 Rasa Vineyards Syrah Principia Reserve saw 30 months in 24% new French oak. Starting out reticent and slightly closed on the nose, it yields first-rate aromas of smoky black fruits, spiced meats, toast, coffee grinds, and crushed flowers with air. Full bodied on the palate and brilliantly textured, the wine possesses notable balance, beautifully sweet, polished fruit, and a long finish that picks up a chocolatey edge. While I prefer the ’07, this is still a straight up stunning Syrah that should easily evolve and drink well for 15+ years. |

2009 |
Principia Reserve Syrah |
$79 |
3 |
|
| |
| JD 94 (6/2012): The estate’s top Syrah and sourced from a number of top vineyards, the 2009 Rasa Vineyards Syrah Principia Reserve, aged mostly in neutral French oak, is pure and decadently fruited, with brilliant aromas of crème de cassis, smoked blackberry, truffle, sweet oak, and creamy licorice on the nose. These qualities carry over to the palate where the wine is full-bodied and powerful, with a concentrated mid-palate, a rich, full texture, and ripe, polished tannin that frames the finish. Overall, blockbuster stuff that is already complex and approachable. Nevertheless, it should ideally be given 2-3 years of bottle age, and then consumed over the following decade or longer. |

2012 |
Tilting at Windmills Proprietary Blend |
$59 |
2 |
|
| |
| WA 95 (6/2014): Also Grenache-dominated, yet incorporating 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Syrah, the 2012 Tilting At Windmills is also rock star stuff. Decadently styled, with creme de cassis, melted licorice, road tar and spice, this full-bodied effort has superb mid-palate depth, an unctuous texture and sweet tannin that coats the palate on the finish. It’s impressive and will have a decade or more of longevity. |
