JD 97 (7/2018): A world-class red, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard is the most opulent, broad, and expansive offering, yet also elegant and weightless. Offering awesome notes of crème de cassis, blueberries, crushed flowers, Asian spices, and graphite, it has a Château Margaux-like elegance, full body, sweet tannins, and a great, great finish. Drink it anytime over the coming two decades or more. This cuvée is all clone 337 and was raised in new oak, with just 225 cases produced. WA 96+ (12/2018): The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) is deep garnet-purple colored with crushed blackberries, black cherries and cassis with hints of mocha, tree bark, earth and tobacco. The palate is medium to full-bodied and elegant with great intensity and loads of layers, framed by firm, ripe tannins and finishing long. (Drink between 2020-2048). VM 91+ (12/2018): The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard offers serious density and power. There is plenty of richness and volume, but the new oak is a bit prominent today. My impression is that the oak will integrate over time, as the 2016 possesses tremendous intensity. The ripe red cherry and plum jam flavors are amped up to the core. This is an especially flamboyant wine from Las Piedras, a site that tends to yield brooding, tannic Cabernets. (Drink between 2021-2031). Antonio Galloni. |

JD 96+ (1/2020): These Quivet Cellars releases are made by Mike Smith, who, for any Napa lover, probably needs no introduction. The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard is rocking stuff and comes from a brilliant vineyard just outside of St. Helena, not more than a stone’s throw from the Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard. This is a classic Cabernet with loads of blue fruits, tobacco, spring flowers, and a terrific sense of minerality. It shows more floral notes with time in the glass, is medium to full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, has remarkable purity, and a great finish. It should pick up additional nuances and complexity with 4-5 years of bottle age and keep for 20+. VM 90 (1/2020): The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard is pushed to the max. Ripe, jammy fruit and a muscular feel that is so characteristic of Las Piedras Cabernets yields a wine that is quite distinctive. Super-ripe dark fruit, leather, menthol and chocolate are pushed forward in this overt-flamboyant Cabernet. Antonio Galloni. WA 91 (10/2019): The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard is deep garnet-purple colored with medicinal, baked black and blue fruit, herbs and cedar. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm and juicy with good expression. |

JD 97+ (8/2020): From a great site outside of St. Helena, there are 175 cases of the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard, which has a killer bouquet of black raspberries and crème de cassis intermixed with beautiful spring flowers, unsmoked tobacco, and spice. Deep, rich, full-bodied, and with incredible elegance and purity, it offers building tannins, flawless balance, and stunning length. A gorgeous wine in every sense, it's going to benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and just sing for 20-25 years or more. (Drink between 2023-2048). VM 91 (1/2021): The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard is a wild, potent wine. Inky dark fruit, grilled herbs, licorice, spice, espresso and game give the Piedras its decidedly exotic personality. The 2018 is at once intensely ripe and savory, with strong oak accents that add sweetness. Those elements don't feel fully meshed together at this stage. (Drink between 2022-2030). Antonio Galloni. |

WA 93 (10/2013): The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Kenefick Ranch Vineyard’s attractive black currant and black cherry-scented nose leads to dark plum, spicy, lush, opulent flavors. This 2010 reveals a broad spectrum of spices, but the black, blue and red fruits are endearing, intense and persistent. This impressive, voluptuously textured, expansive, full-bodied wine’s low acidity and ripe tannin suggest it will drink well over the next 10-12 years. VM 90+ (5/2013): Good full ruby-red, more saturated than the Napa Valley cabernet. High-toned aromas of cassis, licorice, spices, bitter chocolate and nutty oak. Richer and deeper than the Napa Valley version, with creamier flavors of black cherry, licorice and minerals lifted by a floral quality. Still a touch of finishing greenness to be absorbed but there's very good material to support a positive evolution in bottle. Stephen Tanzer. |

| VM 88 (1/2015): Quivet's 2013 Syrah Kenefick Ranch, from a warm site in Calistoga, hits the palate with masses of intense, dark fruit. Game, smoke, tobacco, licorice and leather add complexity, but the wine remains marked by its intense heaviness and ripeness, which ultimately convey a one-dimensional view of what this vineyard has to offer. |

JD 98 (12/2021): There are 75 cases of the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Las Piedras Vineyard Shiverick Reserve, which is a barrel selection from this great vineyard. More pure crème de cassis, scorched earth, crushed violets, and crushed stone as well as a wonderful floral, orange blossom character all emerge from the glass, and it's full-bodied, with a lush, more unctuous texture, sweet tannins, and one heck of a gorgeous finish. This site produced some of the top wines in the vintage, and this is an incredible Cabernet to enjoy over the coming 20-25 years or so. (Drink between 2021-2046). WA 96+ (5/2022): The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard Shiverick Reserve takes the classicism of the "regular bottling" from this vineyard and turns the intensity up a notch (yet the alcohol down at the same time). Black cherries and hints of dark chocolate mark the nose, while the full-bodied palate is rich and creamy without being overdone or heavy. This superb effort from winemaker Mike Smith retains a sense of balance and freshness, plus layers of soft, dusty tannins and awesome persistence on the finish. VM 90 (1/2022): The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Shiverick Reserve is a bit more aromatic and bright than the straight Las Piedras bottling. There is good depth to the red/purplish berry flavors. I find the vegetal aromatics awkward and not especially in character for a Cabernet that is so sumptuous in texture. (Drink between 2023-2031). Antonio Galloni. |
