| WA 97+ (12/2018): Blended of 51% Cabernet Franc, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Merlot, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2014 Hexameter opens with beautiful redcurrants, kirsch and rose hip tea scents with a core of black raspberries and black cherries plus a waft of cinnamon stick. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the palate with ripe, rich, bold cherry-laced fruit, sparked by red fruits and floral notions and finishing long with a compelling graininess. |

| VM 96 (12/2018): The 2016 Syrah is a striking wine. Deep, pliant and super-expressive, the 2016 possesses tremendous fruit purity and exceptional balance. Today, the Syrah is quite primary, with only hints of varietal aromatics, but those should develop over time. Here, too, there is a purity and vibrancy to the fruit that is positively striking. VM 97 (11/2013): The flagship 2010 Ovid is just as impressive today as it was last year. A dark, dense beauty, the 2010 flows across the palate with stunning depth and purity. Mocha, espresso, graphite, wild flowers and intense dark fruit literally explode from the glass. The 2010 is exciting and viscerally thrilling from the very first taste. Seductive Cabernet Franc aromas are woven throughout, adding perfume, lift and an element of exoticism that is impossible to resist. The blend is 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot. WA 96-98 (12/2012): Sweet dark cherries and plums are some of the notes that explode from the 2010 Ovid. An utterly vivid, breathtaking wine, the 2010 impresses for its incredible balance and overall sense of harmony. Flowers of all sorts, sage and rosemary develop in the glass, adding tons of complexity. Today the 2010 is a little reticent next to the decidedly more exuberant 2009, which is quite typical of wines from Pritchard Hill at this stage in the evolution of these vintages. Power, pure vibrancy and intensity are the hallmarks of the 2010. This is another stunning wine from the team at Ovid. I can’t wait to see how the 2010 develops in bottle. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2030. VM 95 (5/2013): (a blend of 63% cabernet sauvignon, 30% cabernet franc, 5% merlot and 2% petit verdot; aged in 80% new oak): Deep ruby-red. Deeply pitched aromas of currant, mocha, smoke and roasted nuts. Wonderfully silky and plush but not at all overly sweet, showing good restraint and spicy definition to the very concentrated flavors of currant, tobacco and brown spices. The very long, subtle finish shows mellow, burnished tannins and noteworthy reserve. Very impressive, and impeccably balanced from day one. WS 92 (10/2013): A mix of power and restraint, this gushes with dark and red berry fruit, along with red and black licorice, gaining depth and smoothing out, showing its mettle on the finish, where the flavors are tapered, focused and long. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2015 through 2025. 416 cases made. |
