| VM 91 (6/2004): Good ruby-red. Wild raspberry, strawberry, spices and nutty oak on the nose. Intensely flavored and stuffed with fruit. Firm acids accentuate the impression of dryness. Firm, pure pinot with good spine. Vintage 2003 was the last crop for these vines, as houses are now being built on this site. Stephen Tanzer. |

WA 92 (2/2011): The medium dark garnet-colored 2008 Zinfandel Vellutini Ranch reveals peppery incense notes intermixed with notions of smoked meats, herbs, kirsch, figs and wood spice. This rich, full-bodied, impressive Zinfandel should drink well for 8-10 years.
VM 91 (5/2010): Deep, bright ruby. Seductive aromas of blackberry, cherry-cola and incense accented by violet and rose. Full-bodied, gently sweet dark berry flavors are complicated by musky herbal and floral qualities. The lush fruit quickly absorbs the dusty tannins and lingers with impressive, spice-driven persistence. This would be great with a strongly seasoned piece of grilled lamb. Josh Raynolds. |
