| VM 89-91 (5/2007): Bright ruby. Aromas of black cherry, smoked meat and minerals. Lush, ripe and broad, with sappy, primary flavors of cherry, raspberry and minerals. Densely packed but not at all overly sweet despite its fruit intensity. Finishes with ripe, building tannins, very good breadth and a late note of licorice. This wine, made from a property next to Angelus, features 73% cabernet franc and 27% merlot. Stephen Tanzer. |
