Staten Family Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

WA 90+ (12/2013): The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Staten Family Reserve displays a classic bouquet of creme de cassis, licorice and graphite. No wimpish red, it is a big, tannic, slightly rustic, rich, full Cabernet that should age for two decades or more. If the tannins completely resolve themselves, it will merit an even higher score. This impressively pure, deep and rich 2010 has enough fruit to balance out the wine’s structure. Forget it for 5-7 years and drink it over the following two decades or more.
