| WA 94+ (12/2016): The 2014 Cerro Sur is 83% Cabernet Franc and 17% Cabernet Sauvignon. It exhibits good structure, lots of oak, plenty of tannin, and is a bigger, beefier version of a Cabernet Franc-dominated wine than its sibling, La Magdalena. This wine begs for another 2-3 years of bottle age, when it should open up and display more nuances. The color is a dense ruby/purple, the fruit pure and rich, with blueberry and black raspberry infused with flowery notes and forest floor. This medium to full-bodied wine should be at its best in 3-4 years and keep for 20 or more. |

JD 95 (1/2019): Moving to the reds, the 2015 Cerro Sur checks in as 82% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon aged 22 months in barrel. It has full-bodied notes of jammy blackberries, tobacco leaf, cassis, and spice as well as some classic Cabernet Franc forest floor and earth all developing with time in the glass. It’s balanced, beautifully textured, and elegant, with terrific depth of fruit. (Drink between 2019-2039). WA 95 (12/2018): Blended of 82% Cabernet Franc and 18% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 22 months in French oak, the deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Cerro Sur leaps from the glass with scents of crushed blackberries and black and red currants with touches of bay leaves, fertile loam and fungi plus a touch of tobacco. Medium to full-bodied, firm and grainy, it delivers a solid frame and crunchy fruit, finishing on a lifted note. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered. 343 cases produced. VM 94 (1/2018): The 2015 Cerro Sur is gorgeous. Dark, supple and inviting, the 2015 is super expressive today. Cedar, smoke, mocha and savory herbs abound in this powerful, savory Cabernet Franc-based blend from Andy Erickson and Annie Favia. Cerro Sur is a blend of Cabernet Franc from Rancho Chimiles and Cabernet Sauvignon from Meteor, both in Coombsville. The 2015 is naturally quite young at this stage. Give it a few years for the tannins to soften. (Drink between 2020-2030). Antonio Galloni. |

JD 97 (1/2019): In the same ballpark, yet in a richer, more flamboyant style, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville boasts a deep purple color as well as tons of cassis and blackberry fruits intermixed with lots of leafy herbs, tobacco, and a Graves-like gravelly minerality. With full body, building tannins, and a layered, concentrated style, drink it any time over the coming 20-25 years. (Drink between 2019-2044). VM 96 (1/2018): The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville hits the palate with serious density and pure power. All of the natural intensity of Oakville Ranch comes through in the glass. Bold, powerful and sumptuous, Favia's Oakville Cabernet is a typical 2015 that will drink well with minimal cellaring, although it also has plenty of potential to develop in bottle. Blackberry jam, licorice, crème de cassis and licorice add substantial weight and substance on this striking Cabernet Sauvignon. (Drink between 2022-2030). Antonio Galloni. WA 95 (12/2018): The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville comes from Oakville Ranch, perched just below Ovid on Pritchard hill and above Dalla Valle. Composed of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, it has a deep garnet-purple color and opens with classic crème de cassis, baked plums and blackberry pie scents plus nuances of Indian spices, cigar box and potpourri. Full, super concentrated and built like a brick house, it has a firm frame of ripe, grainy tannins and bold freshness matching the densely packed layers, finishing with great length and depth. |
