JS 93 (12/2019): A juicy red with plums and currants and hints of fresh herbs. Medium body. Lightly velvety with pretty fruit character at the end. A blend of 74% cabernet sauvignon, 24% merlot and 2% cabernet franc. Second wine of Château Lynch-Bages. Drink now or hold. JD 91 (2/2020): The 2017 Echo De Lynch-Bages offers a juicy, yet classic Cabernet Sauvignon bouquet of creme de cassis, graphite, spring flowers, sappy herbs, and hints of cedary and earth. Medium-bodied, elegant, beautifully balanced, and with fine tannins, it's ideal for drinking over the coming 10-15 years. VM 90 (3/2020): The 2017 Echo de Lynch Bages is soft, open-knit and easygoing. A rush of sweet red cherry and red plum fruit gives the 2017 its open-knit, distinctive personality. Perhaps it is a bit less expressive than it can be in top vintages, but the balance here is impeccable. Pretty floral and spice notes add an attractive element of suaveness to this lush, supple wine. Antonio Galloni. WS 89 (3/2020): Fresh and racy in feel, featuring cassis and bitter cherry fruit, flecked with savory and bay leaf hints. A graphite accent grounds the finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2026. |

WA 90-92+ (4/2019): Composed of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc and without any new oak, the very deep purple-black colored 2018 Echo de Lynch Bages rolls seductively out of the glass with fragrant notes of candied violets, rose hip tea and fragrant soil over a core of crushed blackberries, warm blackcurrants and kirsch plus wafts of chocolate mint and crushed rocks. Full, rich, wonderfully concentrated and well structured, it has a solid backbone of firm, grainy tannins and bold freshness, finishing long. WS 89-92 (4/2019): The dark plum and cassis fruit is focused and fresh, lined with subtle tobacco and incense hints. Light dusty and sanguine accents emerge on finish. VM 91-93 (5/2019): The 2018 Echo de Lynch Bages is a rich, sensual and inviting second wine. Dark cherry, pomegranate, mint, blood orange and spice infuse this racy, sumptuous second wine from Lynch Bages. Plush fruit and soft, silky contours add to the wine's immediacy and sheer appeal. This is very nicely done. Echo is 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. Antonio Galloni. JD 93-95 (5/2019): The 2018 Echo De Lynch-Bages is the second wine of Lynch Bages and is 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc brought up all in once-used barrels. Cassis, graphite, lead pencil, and graphite notes all emerge from this deep, shockingly concentrated wine that has full-bodied richness, ripe, present tannins, and a great finish. The stats on this second wine are telling, and it’s 13.9% alcohol, 3.57 pH, and an IPT of 87. It's one serious, blockbuster-styled second wine that shows how successful some of the second wines in the vintage are. JS 93-94 (4/2019): Very layered and dense second wine of Lynch this year. Medium to full body, juicy fruit and polished and chewy tannins. Will need time. |

WA 87-89 (5/2021): The 2020 Echo de Lynch-Bages is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, aging for around 12 months in one-year-old French oak barriques. It has an alcohol of 13.03%, a pH of 3.78 and an IPT (tannin index) of 80. Deep garnet-purple in color, it rolls out of the glass with expressive, upfront notes of baked black and red cherries, plum preserves and blackcurrant cordial, followed by hints of new leather, tobacco leaf and a medicinal waft. The medium-bodied palate is chock-full of savory flavors, with a chewy texture and just enough freshness, finishing a little rustic. VM 90-92 (5/2021): The 2020 Echo de Lynch-Bages is gentle and harmonious on the nose, not powerful but quite seductive thanks to its pure red currant and wild strawberry fruit; boysenberry jam emerges with time (meaning a couple of hours). The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, grippier than the nose suggests. An underlying saline element lends freshness on a firm finish that does not outstay its welcome, but encourages another sip. This is a fine Deuxième Vin. Neal Martin JD 92-94 (5/2021): Offering classic Pauillac notes of blackcurrants, scorched earth, violets, and lead pencil, the 2020 Echo De Lynch Bages is a big, rich, nicely concentrated wine that shows the fresh yet powerful style of the vintage beautifully. It's a terrific second wine, yet one that's going to benefit from a few years of bottle age. The blend is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. JS 95-96 (4/2021): Intense graphite and violet character with lead pencil. It’s full and firm with chewy and balanced tannins. Iodine coming through. So intense. Super second wine. Like the grand vin of Lynch from the 1980s. 60% cabernet sauvignon and 40% merlot. |
