| WA 93-95 (3/2021): Assembled from 14 different plots (each vinified and aged separately for the first year), the 2019 Gigondas boasts lovely aromas of garrigue, spice, orange zest, licorice, black cherries and raspberries. This vintage is about 60% Grenache (aged in foudres and demi-muids), with a balance of mainly Syrah and Mourvèdre (both aged in smaller barrels). It's full-bodied, rich and velvety, with a long, softly dusty finish. It lacks the easy approachability of the 2018 but is more concentrated and should age particularly well. |

VM 93 (8/2018): Deep brilliant red. Highly perfumed aromas of ripe red berries, exotic spices, garrigue and candied flowers, joined by a smoky mineral nuance that builds steadily in the glass. Smooth and seamless in texture, offering palate-staining raspberry liqueur, spicecake and lavender pastille flavors in a suave marriage of depth and vivacity. Closes sweet, gently tannic and very long, leaving lingering red berry, allspice and floral pastille notes behind. Josh Raynolds. WA 94 (8/2018): Big, rich and full-bodied, the 2016 Gigondas le Lieu Dit is old-vine Grenache from a sandy part of the property, aged in demi-muids. It's got huge black cherry, berry and plum fruit, yet remains fresh and vibrant, showing a bit of warmth without going over the top. It should drink well for a decade. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. JD 97 (9/2018): From a cooler terroir of sandy soils just beside the domaine, the 2016 Gigondas Le Lieu Dit is another tour de force from this brilliant estate. It sports a medium ruby color as well as a rocking bouquet of kirsch, blackberry liqueur, rose petals, damp earth, incense, and spice. Ultra-fine, seamless, elegant, and pure, it's nevertheless powerful and rich, with awesome intensity. Readers need to snatch up this blockbuster. |

JD 94-96+ (10/2023): Lastly, the 2022 Gigondas Le Regard Loin is a clear standout in the lineup, showing the elegance that's present in all of these releases, but bringing more richness and depth. Black raspberries, sandalwood, Provençal spice, and garrigue notes all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a beautifully textured, layered mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It brings more mid-palate depth than most in the vintage and has the balance and texture to not only drink well in its youth but evolve for two decades if well stored. VM 94-96 (1/2024): The 2022 Gigondas Le Regard Loin is a stunner. Rich and explosive, the 2022 showcases intense rose petal, orange rind, crushed violet, raspberry, strawberry and cranberry. Minty elements and spice box nuances usher in. On the palate, this 2022 strikes the perfect balance between uplifting acidity, concentrated fruit flavors and a polished web of structure-lending tannins. A cuvée first made in the 2019 vintage, the Le Regard Loin has already secured its place amongst the leaders of the appellation. Nicolas Greinacher. |
