| VM 91 (4/2016): Opaque ruby. Smoky, perfumed scents of fresh dark berries, violet and allspice are joined by a lively mineral nuance that builds in the glass. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering energetic black and blue fruit flavors and a deeper licorice nuance that gains power with air. A peppery quality adds spiciness to the long, focused finish, which is shaped by supple, harmonious tannins. Josh Raynolds. |

| VM 93 (4/2018): Bright violet. Heady, smoke- and spice-tinged blueberry, cherry liqueur and violet aromas show excellent clarity and pick up olive and smoky bacon notes with aeration. Sweet and energetic on the palate, offering deeply concentrated black and blue fruit and floral pastille flavors plus a suggestion of fine-spice powder. The impressively long, sappy finish features bright mineral cut, an echo of juicy blue fruit and velvety tannins that sneak up slowly. Josh Raynolds. |
