JS 91-92 (4/2018): More fruit than many Pomerols in 2017 with a solid core of berry and chocolate character. Ripe tannins and a long, subtle finish. VM 90-93 (5/2018): The 2017 Clos du Clocher is inky, deep and voluptuous. Floral notes give lift to the red-toned fruit in this super-expressive, pliant Pomerol. Clos du Clocher is usually a bigger, more extracted wine, but in 2017, those qualities are reined in, and the wine is just gorgeous. A closing flourish of red and purplish berry fruit punctuates the finish. Antonio Galloni. WA 90-92 (4/2018): The 2017 Clos du Clocher is deep purple-black in color with a beautiful nose of lilacs, star anise and dark chocolate with a core of crushed blackberries and mulberries. The palate is medium to full-bodied with firm, grainy tannins and plenty of mid-palate muscular fruit, extending into a long, spicy finish. JD 88-90 (4/2018): Terrific notes of black cherries, crushed flowers, and sous bois emerge from the 2017 Château Clos Du Clocher, which is an 80/20 split of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. With medium-bodied richness, good concentrated, and a seamless texture, it has Outstanding potential and should be well worth seeking out. |

VM 93-95 (6/2020): The 2019 Clos du Clocher has a very seductive bouquet with layers of dark cherry, wild strawberry, soy and truffle scents. Later a touch of vanilla emanates from the oak, perfectly in sync with the fruit. The palate is very well balanced and super-smooth, fine acidity and a graceful, yet quite intense finish that leaves a residue of spice on the aftertaste. Very persistent. Outstanding. Neal Martin JD 92-94 (6/2020): The 2019 Clos Du Clocher was closed and backward aromatically, yet has beautiful richness and depth on the palate, with pure cassis and black raspberry fruit, ripe, present tannins, a good sense of freshness and purity, and a great finish. It's going to be a serious Pomerol that will benefit from short-term cellaring yet drink nicely for two decades. JS 93-94 (6/2020): Lots of dark fruit and chocolate with blackberry and walnut character. It’s full-bodied with round, chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Some earth, too. |
