| WA 91-93 (4/2016): The 2015 Les Cruzelles is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc on gravel/clayey soil, picked from September 15-22 and October 6 respectively, then matured in 45% new oak. The new wood is seamlessly integrated into this Lalande-de-Pomerol, more broody and introspective than the La Chenade at the moment, but very well defined. The palate is beautifully proportioned with crisp tannin, a fine line of acidity, somehow gentle and understated on the finish, but very long in the mouth. Yet another ridiculously fine wine to load up on, courtesy of Denis Durantou. |

VM 93 (3/2020): Super-ripe dark cherry, blackberry, chocolate, spice, new leather and licorice are some of the many notes that run through the 2017 Les Cruzelles. Unctuous and flamboyantly ripe, with tons of intensity, the 2017 is another drop-dead gorgeous beauty in this range from Denis Durantou. Antonio Galloni. JS 92 (12/2019): Really refined tannins with a creamy, mouth-filling texture. Full to medium body. Juicy fruit with a lovely finish. So enjoyable now. Why wait? |

WA 90-92 (6/2020): This wine is produced by Denis Darantou and family of Château L’Eglise-Clinet. Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 Les Cruzelles (a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc) opens with powerful black fruit scents of ripe blackberries, black cherries and mulberries with underlying floral notions of lilacs and wilted roses and hints of dark chocolate, fertile loam and mossy tree bark. The medium to full-bodied palate is chock-full of expressive, crunchy black fruits, framed by chunky tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with a peppery kick. VM 92-94 (6/2020): The 2019 Les Cruzelles is a big wine. Black cherry, gravel, smoke, licorice and new leather blast out of the glass. Dizzyingly intense and deep, with equally potent tannins, Les Cruzelles is fabulous in 2019. It is also going to need at least a few years in bottle to come together. Harvest took place from September 18 and 25 for the Merlot and September 28 for the Franc. Antonio Galloni. JS 92-93 (6/2020): This is smoky, spicy and meaty with blueberry character. It’s medium-bodied with a chewy texture and a tight, pronounced finish. Serious. |

JD 93-95 (4/2026): Compared to the La Chenade, the 2025 Château Les Cruzelles is often more structured and serious in style. It's another Pomerol look-alike that brings ample structure, medium-bodied richness, a nicely focused mouthfeel, and beautiful aromatics of ripe blue fruits, spring flowers, violets, and chocolate on the nose. It's another brilliant wine in the lineup from this family estate. VM 92-94 (4/2026): The 2025 Les Cruzelles is another stellar wine in this range from sisters Noëmie and Constance Durantou. There's a bit more clay in this section of the vineyard, which comes through in the wine's broad textures and darker fruit profile vis-à-vis La Chenade. Black cherry, lavender, cloves, menthol and licorice add to an impression of somber gravitas. This will need time in the cellar, as the tannins are formidable. Antonio Galloni. JA 92 (4/2026): Bright violet and floral, even chamomile, character in Les Cruzelles, with cloves and toasted grilled herbs. 55% new oak. Harvest August 29 to September 12. Needs some time in the glass to totally kick into action but this is luscious. Noémie Durantou winemaker. |
