JD 93-96 (4/2018): One of the original garage wines, the 2017 Magrez Fombrauge is a blockbuster made from 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc that will see 18 months in new barrels. It offers a huge nose of chocolaty dark fruits, crushed rocks, and sweet oak as well as full-bodied richness, impressive mid-palate depth, and sweet tannin. Deep, rich, gorgeously textured, and lengthy, it could be a true superstar and up with the crème de la crème in the vintage. JS 92-93 (4/2018): A round and juicy red with berry, spice and chocolate character. Medium-bodied, fresh and clean. Bright finish. WS 90-93 (4/2018): Ripe, offering a succulent core of raspberry, plum and berry fruit flavors. Shows good underlying energy and tension, with a nicely rendered anise- and toast-infused finish. |

JD 96-99 (6/2020): I continue to love this wine, and the 2019 Château Magrez Fombrauge is one seriously good, opulent, super rich 2019 that does everything right. Loads of crème de cassis, blueberries, tobacco leaf, candied violets, and chocolate all soar from the glass. Deep, full-bodied, and just beautifully balanced on the palate, it's another stunner in the making. JS 92-93 (6/2020): A ripe young wine with red-fruit and terracotta character. Medium to full body, round and juicy tannins and a fresh finish. |
