| WA 94 (6/2015): A well-known and consistent wine from the estate of Christian Dauriac, this big, plump, opulent 2005 is one of the best wines I have ever tasted from this estate. It is full-bodied and multi-dimensional, with a big, juicy texture and loads of plum, blackcurrant, spicy oak and minerality. Full and rich, with the tannins just beginning to show some resolution and better integration, this is a big-time sleeper of the vintage that should drink well for another 15-20 years.\ |

VM 94 (1/2019): The 2016 Destieux has turned out beautifully. A gorgeous, modern Saint-Émilion, Destieux offers tremendous depth and textural resonance from the outset. Dark, jammy fruit, chocolate, spice and new leather take on exotic shades of dimension. Destieux is a decidedly flamboyant Saint-Émilion endowed with superb richness and tons of sheer appeal. This is a terrific showing. (Drink between 2022-2036). Antonio Galloni. JD 93 (2/2019): A beautiful nose of macerated cherries, blackberries, chocolate, and cedary spice emerges from the 2016 Château Destieux, and it's deep, rich, and layered on the palate. With a real sense of minerality, medium to full body, good acidity, and plenty of ripe tannins, it has an approachable feel yet will be even better with short-term cellaring. Tasted twice. (Drink between 2022-2037). WA 91+ (11/2018): The 2016 Destieux is medium to deep garnet-purple in color and features baked plums, cedar, tobacco and earth with wafts of bay leaves and redcurrant jelly. Medium-bodied, firm and grainy, it offers nice vibrancy and length. |
