JD 95 (1/2023): The 2013 Ca' Marcanda is explosive with wild and medicinal herbs, menthol, and red plum. Medium to full-bodied, its more lifted feel is also more forward driven and linear. This continues in the red-fruited realm on the palate, with currant and red raspberry seed as well as gripping and angular tannins and fresh acidity. There is a cooling nature about this wine, with a vibrant energy that I absolutely love. Drink 2024-2044.
VM 91 (11/2016): The flagship 2013 Camarcanda is another attractive wine from this Gaja family's Bolgheri property. Soft, succulent fruit and mid-weight structure suggest the 2013 is best suited to near and medium-term drinking. Dark raspberry, black cherry, menthol, licorice and tobacco infuse the juicy, polished finish. (Drink between 2016-2023). Antonio Galloni. |
