| VM 93 (6/2014): Vivid ruby-red. Intensely perfumed scents of cherry skin, redcurrant, rhubarb, anise and fresh bay, along with a chalky mineral undertone. Dry, nervy and pure, offering vibrant red fruit and floral pastille flavors and complicating spiciness. Gains weight and power with air and finishes with incisive minerality and excellent persistence. There's something intriguingly nebbiolo-like happening here. This dry-farmed vineyard was planted in 1915. Josh Raynolds. |

Mixed Blacks Weill a Way |

| VM 91 (2/2014): A plump, juicy red, the 2012 Mixed Blacks Weill a Way Vineyard is also one of the more approachable wines in this range. Dark red and black fruit, savory herbs, licorice and tobacco all jump from the glass in a flashy, layered wine to drink now and over the next few years. This is yet another super-impressive effort from Bedrock. Best of all, the Weill Away offers a bit more near term appeal than some other 2012s. Antonio Galloni. |

| |
| VM 92 (5/2012): Bright purple. Black and blue fruits on the highly fragrant, spice-accented nose. Juicy, penetrating blueberry and bitter cherry flavors show excellent clarity and pick up sweetness and a smoky nuance with air. Fine-grained tannins add shape and focus to the very long, seamless, alluringly sweet finish. |

Monte Rosso Vyd. Zinfandel |

| WA 92 (4/2013): Bedrock’s 2011 Zinfandel Monte Rosso is pure seduction. Plums, mocha, black cherry and menthol notes all make an appearance as this flashy, expressive Zinfandel shows off its considerable personality. Here, too, the wine’s creamy texture and impeccable overall balance shine with uncommon elegance. All the elements are in the right place. This is a surprisingly soft wine for Monte Rosso. As such, it will drink well upon release. Readers who prefer tertiary complexity will want to cellar the 2011 for at least a few years. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2031. |

Papera Ranch Heritage |
$55 |

|
| |
| VM 93 (2/2014): The 2012 Papera Ranch Heritage, a Zinfandel-based field blend red, is another drop-dead gorgeous beauty. Dark cherries, plums, tobacco, licorice and new leather all burst from the glass. The style is rich, intense and voluptuous, but all the elements are in the right place. Today, the flavors are really popping. The 2012 is 54% Zinfandel plus an assortment of grapes, including Carignane, Petite Sirah, Valdigue, Cabernet, Trousseau Gris and others from a site planted in 1934. |
