| VM 95 (10/2017): Roagna's 2012 Barbaresco Pajé opens with striking aromatics. Spice, leather, sweet tobacco, hard candy and dried cherry notes lift from the glass, but it is the purity and sweetness of the fruit that really stands out. The decision to shorten the amount of time the wines spent in barrel is evident in the wine's freshness. Polished tannins give the 2012 tons of near and medium term appeal. What a gorgeous wine this is. (Drink between 2020-2032). Antonio Galloni. |

| VM 94 (10/2018): The 2013 Barbaresco Pajè will leave readers weak at the knees with its stunning aromatics. Spicebox, cedar, tobacco, licorice and menthol speak to the essence of Pajè. A wine of depth and pedigree, the 2013 has a lot to offer. Orange peel, cinnamon, rose petal and mint add the closing shades of nuance in a deceptively medium-bodied Barbaresco that has plenty of backing structure and tannic clout to age well for many years to come. Antonio Galloni. |

WA 95 (7/2020): The 2014 Barbaresco Pajè is probably the most representative wine from the Roagna family. This 1.8-hectare parcel has been in family hands since 1953. Pajè (located in the comune of Barbaresco) shows ample structure and power, making a fitting platform to carry its expressive bouquet. Wild rose, lavender, sour cherry, licorice root and plenty of balsam herb lift beautifully from the glass. The wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts and sees five years of aging between wood and cement. VM 94+ (11/2019): Cinnamon, cedar, sweet pipe tobacco and leather are some of the nuances that emerge from the 2014 Barbaresco Pajè. Pliant and open-knit, the 2014 is surprisingly open for a young Roagna Barbaresco, which makes it almost shockingly easy to enjoy even now (in relative terms), in what is the very early going by Roagna standards. Even, so there is plenty of Nebbiolo structure and tannin. Sweet rose petal, mint, tobacco, underbrush, game, and sweet red berry fruit add to the wine's stunning allure. (Drink between 2022-2039). Antonio Galloni. |

| VM 93 (10/2012): The 2007 Barolo La Pira is a huge, voluptuous wine endowed with stunning textural richness and depth at this level. Dark cherries, plums, menthol and flowers flow through to the rich, enveloping finish as this broad-shouldered yet utterly impeccable wine opens up in the glass. Like so many wines in this vintage, the 2007 is open for business yet also appears to have more than enough structure to age well for many years. Sweet floral notes, spices and tobacco reappear on a gorgeous finish. Antonio Galloni. |

VM 95 (10/2018): The 2013 Barolo Pira is dark and powerful to its core. Deceptive in its mid-weight structure, the 2013 is all nerves and muscle. Iron, blood, smoke, cedar, smoke and licorice give the 2013 much of its super-distinctive flavor profile. In the glass, the 2013 is wonderfully deep and exotic, with layers of dimension that open up effortlessly over time. Readers will have to be patient with the 2013, but it is hugely promising. Sadly, prices for the Roagna wines have gone up dramatically in recent years. If there is one wine that readers should absolutely not miss, it is the 2013 Barolo Pira. Antonio Galloni. Drink 2023-2038. WA 93 (6/2019): The 2013 Barolo Pira sees fruit sourced from a five-hectare plot (with 16,800 bottles made). The Pira vineyard is Roagna’s home-base parcel and is the biggest single vineyard the family cultivates in the Barolo appellation. Pira is easy to recognize in terms of bouquet, thanks to those distinctive aromas of dried rose petal and balsam herb that lift gently from the bouquet. Due to long maceration times, which are the norm here at Roagna, the wine’s color shows medium intensity, but that color should be fixed and stable over the long haul because any remaining material in suspension has since fallen out, thanks to the slow fermentation process. This wine delivers evident structure and a touch of rawness or naked nerve that underlines the wine’s young age (and, consequently, its long future aging potential). Dark fruit and a touch of sweet spice add volume to the finish. |

| WA 94 (6/2021): The Roagna 2015 Barolo Pira represents a more ample production of 12,582 bottles. This is a tight and articulate wine, with bright cherry fruit, pressed lilac and soft spice. Like the other wines from this deeply tradition-minded estate, there is an evident note of balsam herb that adds lift and vertical intensity to the bouquet. |
