| BH 90 (1/2024): A gorgeously elegant and perfumed nose is comprised by the pure essence of red cherries laced with spice, green tea and earth nuances plus a floral top note. The equally pure, lacy and attractively tension-filled middleweight flavors possess a sophisticated mouthfeel thanks to the fine-grained tannins shaping the punchy and youthfully austere if slightly short finale. This may well better harmonize but at present, it's not quite as well-balanced as the best in the range. (Drink starting 2031). |

VM 93 (3/2014): Mugneret-Gibourg's 2011 Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Chaignots is remarkably polished and refined in this vintage. Sweet rose petals, spices and red berries emerge from a gracious Burgundy that shows the more finessed side of Nuits. This is one of the more classically structured 2011s readers will come across. Today, the Chaignots is drop-dead gorgeous. Dried rose petals, sage, mint and crushed raspberries linger on the close. Antonio Galloni. WA 93 (11/2014): Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. I appreciate the purity and floral nature of Mugneret-Gibourg’s Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Chaignots, which is well defined and seems to blossom on the glass. It feels natural and nicely focused, plenty of mulberry and raspberry fruit emerging as it opens. The palate is very well balanced with supple red cherries, spice, gingerbread and white pepper - a really cerebral Les Chaignots. There is very good weight here, the finish blessed with roiling intensity. Excellent. BH 92 (1/2014): A discreet application of wood allows the ripe aromas of cassis, earth and black cherry to be appreciated. The suave, round and opulent flavors possess a very supple and accessible mid-palate before culminating in a mouth coating and lingering finish that evidences just a hint of rusticity. Excellent. Drink 2021+. Outstanding! |

VM 93+ (6/2018): The 1996 Ruchottes-Chambertin was cropped at just 27hl/ha. Now with 21 years on the clock, atypical for this vintage, it has a sensual bouquet with scents of red fruit, cassis, quince and violet, though with continued aeration it develops a subtle earthiness. The palate is marked by very fine tannin, well judged acidity and quite a structured second half. This is still quite backward, but there is something very stylish here and for those with extraordinary patience it may well blossom...eventually! Tasted at the Ruchottes-Chambertin vertical in London. (Drink between 2018-2032). Neal Martin. BH 92 (4/2016): At 20 years of age this is finally just now coming into its own as the truffle-inflected nose remains fresh yet there is good secondary development in evidence on the mostly red berry fruit and earthy aromas. There is excellent detail to the mineral-driven flavors that, like many '96s, are not particularly dense but on the plus side they are refined and this sense of elegance continues onto the balanced, lingering and delicious finale. To my taste this has arrived at its peak though it should easily hold here for years to come. By the way, there is a trace of the '96 style acidity present but it is not so prominent to detract from the overall sense of balance provided that there is an appropriate food pairing. Tasted twice in the past year with consistent results. |

| BH 88 (1/2016): ( from 5 different parcels located in La Columbière, Champs Goudins and Le Pre de la Folie, which are contiguous vineyards located below the village and above the Route Nationale.) A discreet touch of wood sets off spicy herbal tea and red and dark pinot fruit scents. There is a sleek mouth feel to the delicious and vibrant medium-bodied flavors that are shaped by ripe tannins on the reasonably well-balanced, complex and lingering finish. This is a lovey Vosne villages that will require at least a few years of bottle age so that this can further flesh out. Drink 2021+. |

JD 93 (11/2020): The village 2017 Vosne-Romanée comes from four to five different sites and is brought up in 50% new wood. This soft, seductive beauty has loads of spiced red and black raspberries, dried flowers, and honeysuckle-like nuances to go with a medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, layered style on the palate. Just about impossible to resist, it's going to evolve for 15 years or more. (Drink between 2020-2036). WA 91 (1/2020): The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Village confirms the promise it showed in barrel, wafting from the glass with aromas of cherries, red berries, peonies and sweet soil tones. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and satiny, with succulent acids, melting tannins and a long and perfumed finish. While it's deceptively approachable, long-time followers of this cuvée will know that it will amply reward bottle age with enhanced depth and complexity. VM 90 (8/2025): The 2017 Vosne-Romanée from Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg is all finesse. The 2017 opens very pretty, floral aromatics. Bright red-toned fruit, cinnamon, blood orange, cedar. Silky, polished tannins wrap it all together. Just starting to show the first signs of aromatic development, the 2017 is a fine choice for drinking now and over the next decade or so. (Drink between 2025-2035). Antonio Galloni. |
