JS 94 (7/2012): Gorgeous nose of warm stones and dark fruits. Full body with a solid core of fruit and chewy tannins, and a long and intense finish. Best ever. Best after 2016. WA 93 (2/2012): The best ever wine from this estate (even better than their sensational 2005), this full-bodied wine offers notes of blueberry, black currant, asphalt and burning charcoal embers in a deep, layered and multi-dimensional style. It is impressively pure and well-built, with far greater concentration and length than I ever remember this wine having in the past. Forget it for 5 years and drink it over the following three decades. WS 92 (3/2012): This has a very solid core of black Mission fig, blackberry preserves and freshly roasted espresso flavors, woven nicely with hints of alder wood, tar and pastis. The long finish shows polish, with nice grip in reserve. Best from 2013 through 2022. 12,083 cases made. |

NM 95 (1/2014): Tasted blind at the Southwold Bordeaux 2010 tasting. This is a great La Tour Martillac that must be one the finest releases from the estate in recent years. It has quite an elegant understated bouquet with autumn leaves infusing the black fruit profile, later tobacco and cigar box. Good vigour and class. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity on the entry. It is underpinned by good structure, with plenty of red and black fruit and an engaging delineated finish brimming with energy. There is some high quality terroir and fruit here. Tasted January 2014. WS 92 (3/2013): Dense, but supple along the edges, offering a packed core of cassis, blackberry and black cherry fruit. The lovely licorice, dark tobacco and violet notes glide to the finish, which shows solid, latent grip. Best from 2015 through 2025. JS 92-93 (4/2011): I love the mid-palate to this young and attractive red, with silky tannins and alluring mineral, berry and stone character. Enchanting. WA 90+ (2/2013): Abundant notes of spicy oak, elegant black currants and rich fruitiness along with hints of forest floor and damp earth are followed by a medium to full-bodied wine with sweet tannin and the classic Pessac-Leognan/Graves characteristics of tobacco leaf and smoke. Deep fruit, moderate tannin and a long finish give this wine enough potential to last for up to two decades or more. VM 88 (8/2013): Bright medium red. Slightly medicinal aromas of black cherry, licorice, tobacco leaf and earth. Spicy and firmly built, with fresh acidity giving the flavors of tobacco leaf, herbs and spices a rather stern mien today. Finishes a tad green, with drying tannins. I'm not sure where this can go in bottle. Stephen Tanzer. |

VM 94 (2/2018): The 2015 Latour-Martillac is a powerful, muscular wine. Beams of tannin give the 2015 its potent, brooding personality. Savory herbs, new leather, wild cherry, smoke and kirsch get an extra kick of intensity from bright acids and pointed yet well-integrated tannins. Today, the 2015 is a bit reticent and tightly wound, but that should be less of an issue with more time in bottle. Antonio Galloni. WA 93 (2/2018): Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Latour Martillac has a spicy nose of cinnamon stick, cloves and aniseed with a core of red and black cherries and a waft of fragrant earth. The palate is medium-bodied with plenty of juicy fruit and a firm frame of fine-grained tannins with bags of freshness lifting the finish. JS 93 (2/2018): Some handy depth here. Ripe dark cherries and blackberries are framed in slightly nutty, cedary and spicy oak. The palate’s built on polished layered tannin sheets, delivering depth and sturdiness amid fresh flavors of dark cherries and cassis. Best from 2022. WS 89 (3/2018): Features a flash of ganache that gives way quickly to gently mulled plum and blackberry reduction flavors, carried by silky tannins and backed by warm tar and smoldering tobacco notes. Just a touch shy on stuffing in the end, but shows nice typicity and balance. Drink now through 2025. 11,667 cases made. JD 88 (11/2017): Notes of leafy herbs, damp earth, cedary spice and ripe black cherries emerge from the 2015 Château Latour-Martillac which comes from an estate managed by the Kressmann family. A medium-bodied Pessac-Leognan, it has juicy acidity and surprisingly coarse, rustic tannin that if representative, will need to be watched. Nevertheless, it has solid depth of fruit and could improve with 2-3 years of cellaring. |

WA 90-92+ (5/2021): Deep purple-black colored, the 2020 Latour Martillac needs a little swirling to release scents of wild blueberries, fresh black-currants and mulberries with hints of chocolate box, aniseed and mossy tree bark with a touch of charcoal. The medium-bodied palate is soft, juicy and refreshing, offering a savory finish. JD 92-94 (5/2021): The deep inky colored 2020 Château Latour-Martillac is another classic Graves from this vintage with loads to love. Lots of red, blue, and black fruits, notes of flowers, chocolate, and gravelly earth, medium to full-bodied richness, impeccable balance, and silky tannins all make for an outstanding, undeniably impressive 2020 that shines more for its elegance and purity than outright power and richness. It will benefit from 3-5 years of bottle age and cruise for two decades. JS 93-94 (4/2021): This really builds on the palate with blackberry, blueberry and stone aromas and flavors. Medium to full body. Creamy finish. |

WA 91-93 (5/2021): The 2020 Latour Martillac Blanc has a fragrant nose of lemongrass, spiced pears and lime leaves, plus hints of fresh peaches and shaved almonds. The medium-bodied palate has an impressively racy backbone cutting through the intense citrus and stone fruit flavors, finishing long and zesty. JS 92-93 (4/2021): A dense yet fresh white with sliced lemon and cooked apple. Green mango, too. Phenolic tension. Full-bodied and layered. Solid phenolics at the end. |
