| VM 94 (7/2012): Good medium red. Expressive, inviting aromas of plum, tobacco, leather and smoky underbrush; very sangiovese. Silky on entry, then plush but fresh in the middle, with a perfumed quality and a coiled spring to its red fruit flavors. Finishes firmly tannic, gripping and long, with excellent lift and a noble rusticity to the red fruit and leather flavors. Shows the 2007 to its best advantage, and is built for a good 12 to 15 years of aging. Stephen Tanzer. |

| VM 90 (2/2016): A huge, dark wine, the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is endowed with massive depth. There is certainly no shortage of depth or pure power, but the slightly forward aromatics suggest the 2010 is on a fast aging curve. I would prefer to drink the 2010 Riserva over the next five years, and only with similarly rich, intense foods. Today, the wine's balance is hanging on a very thin thread, but as the fruit fades, the flavors will become gamier and the tannins will stick out more than they do today. Antonio Galloni. |
