Bouquet Garni Syrah  |

VM 93 (8/2016): The 2012 Syrah Bouquet Garni, from a site in Bennett Valley, is deep, powerful and explosive, with huge fruit and terrific overall intensity. Black cherry, plum, spice, lavender and sage are front and center. Voluptuous, racy and ripe, the Bouquet Garni offers notable intensity from start to finish. Wilder, gamier notes develop with time in the glass. This is a super-classic Luc Morlet wine built on power and intensity. Antonio Galloni.
WA 96 (12/2014): Luc Morlet further demonstrates his genius with his Syrah called Bouquet Garni from Bennett Valley, which is bottled without fining or filtration. There are only around five barrels (125 cases) of this 100% Syrah that tastes like it includes some Viognier in the blend (because of the floral and lavender notes). The 2012 Syrah Bouquet Garni offers up fabulous notes of black truffles, lavender, roasted herbs, graphite, blackberries and meaty charcuterie. Other than a handful of Syrahs from Sine Qua Non, this French-tasting Syrah is the closest thing I have tasted to Guigal’s famous Côte Rôtie La Landonne. Drink this sensational Syrah over the next 10-15 years. |

WA 97+ (12/2012): The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Coeur de Vallee is laced with freshly cut flowers, sweet red berries and mint. Weightless and crystalline, the 2010 is pure silk and finesse. The Coeur de Vallee is always the most elegant of Morlet’s Cabernets, and the 2010 plays true to type. Sweet floral notes add lift on the finish. The 2010 is gorgeous today, but it needs a few years in bottle to blossom fully. This is yet another tremendous wine from Luc and Jodie Morlet. The 2010 is 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Cabernet Franc. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2030.
VM 94+ (6/2013): (blended with 24% cabernet franc): Bright medium ruby. Lovely violet lift to the intense aromas of cassis, licorice and bitter chocolate, complicated by sexy mocha and earth tones; a real essence of Oakville. Wonderfully plush and sweet in the mouth, with captivating minty lift to the pliant dark raspberry and spice flavors. Finishes very long, with noble, rising tannins that coat the teeth. An Outstanding and very suave wine in the making: I love the cabernet franc element here. |

| VM 97 (12/2012): he 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Morlet Estate is striking. Firm tannins support a core of expressive red berries, flowers and mint in this deep, powerful wine. Mocha, espresso and violets emerge over time, adding considerable complexity, power and depth. Layers of fruit flow through to the voluptuous, inviting finish, but the 2010 remains closed and not fully expressive. This is going to be a fascinating wine to follow over the coming years, and it should be thrilling once it comes together a bit more in bottle. Today, the 2010 is notably more impressive than it was when I tasted it from barrel last year. Antonio Galloni. |

| VM 94 (8/2016): The 2012 Morlet Estate is a gorgeous, racy wine that captures the exuberance of the vintage. Rose petal, spice and dark raspberry jam are some of the notes that flesh out. The 2012 is bold, ripe and forward, yet it also retains striking freshness and nuance throughout. A closing blast of red cherry jam and pomegranate round out the finish. This modern, voluptuous St. Helena Cabernet will drink well for another 15-20 years. Antonio Galloni. |

| WA 97+ (12/2015): From Luc Morlet's own estate just north of St. Helena, the 2013 Morlet Estate comes across like a first-growth Pauillac. Again 100% Cabernet Sauvignon with creamy blackcurrants and blackberry fruit, some licorice, graphite, and background oak, the wine displays excellent minerality, superb fruit intensity, and a multi-dimensional mouthfeel. It should drink well for at least 25-30 years. |

| JD 93 (6/2018): Slightly deeper colored than the ’14, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Les Petits Morlet offers more black fruits, graphite, scorched earth, and tobacco. It’s another full-bodied yet finesse-driven wine from this estate that has good acidity, ripe tannin, and plenty of class. As with the 2014, it will keep for over a decade. I loved these latest releases from Luc Morlet and family, and they show a sensational mix of classic, balanced, even old-school, characters mixed with killer California fruit. As a whole, the 2014s show more elegance and complexity, with the 2015s possessing more power and richness. These are rockstar wines. |

WA 97 (3/2023): A barrel selection and blend that Morlet feels represents his best, the 2020 Chardonnay Coup de Coeur is indeed a prodigious effort. Scents of toasted hazelnuts and white peaches dominate the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is plush and silky, with tremendous concentration and length. It's a complete wine, very nicely done.
VM 94 (2/2023): The 2020 Chardonnay Coup de Cœur is a selection of the best barrels in the cellar. Tangerine oil, mint, white flowers and lightly honeyed notes all grace this gorgeous, aromatically expressive Chardonnay. Time in the glass brings out the wine's gorgeous creaminess and textural resonance. Antonio Galloni. |

VM 94 (12/2023): The 2021 La Proportion Dorée is a gorgeous, exotic wine. Tangerine, graphite, passionfruit, mint, baked apple tart and jasmine lend notable complexity. Rich and textured, with terrific brightness, the 2021 is a classic Morlet offering. This textured, viscous white will be best enjoyed at the dinner table alongside similarly rich dishes. WA 96-98 (3/2023): Potentially one of the most profound Sauvignon Blanc-based wines I have tasted from California, the 2021 La Proportion Doree boasts explosive aromas of cut grass, gooseberries, tangerines and pink grapefruit. A barrel-fermented—in previously used French oak—blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Muscadelle, it's medium to full-bodied and lush, with enormous richness and concentration and a potent, lingering finish. I only hope this stunning effort survives the journey into bottle looking this good. |
