VM 92 (10/2015): Pride's 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is soft, creamy and voluptuous. Sweet cherry, rose petal, mint, plum, cinnamon, new leather and cedar open up effortlessly in the glass, with silky tannins that add to the wine's sheer appear. The Cabernet Sauvignon captures the open-knit, radiant personality of the vintage to the fullest. Antonio Galloni. |

WA 100 (10/2016): A real tour de force once again, and their second consecutive perfect score, is the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve, which is 99% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Petit Verdot aged 22 months in 40% new French oak. It is a larger cuvee of 1,416 cases versus 450 for the Reserve Claret. The Cabernet is just under 15% alcohol. A fantastic wine, with great intensity, notes of graphite, forest floor, crème de cassis, white chocolate and blackberry, the wine hits the palate with a thunderous presence, has a multi-layered, skyscraper-like palate feel, a plush, intense texture, high but well-integrated tannin and acidity, and nicely disguised oak. This is a magnificent wine, with 79% of it coming from the Sonoma side of Spring Mountain and 21% from the Napa side. Drink it over the next 25-30+ years. VM 96+ (12/2016): The 2013 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon captures all the best of the Pride house style. Rich, ample and concentrated, with superb depth, the 2013 possesses exceptional balance and tons of pure pedigree. The sheer intensity of the fruit nearly buries the tannins, but they are there. Polished, silky tannins add to the wine's tremendous appeal. This is a total knock-out from Pride and winemaker Sally Johnson. Pride fans will not want to miss this exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon. Antonio Galloni. WS 91 (11/2016): A bit racy, with a twinge of blackberry and balsamic amid an otherwise potent core of dense dark berry, licorice and gravelly earth flavors. A style of wine that should only get better as the tannins ease and the fruit becomes more prominent. Best from 2019 through 2029. 1,416 cases made. |

VM 95+ (12/2018): The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is going to need a few years in bottle to come into its own. Despite its obvious ripeness and inner sweetness, the 2015 is presently dominated by its firm tannins. A host of blackberry jam, leather, smoke, spice and earthy notes meld together effortlessly, while truffle, spice, dried flower and leather overtones add a distinctly wild, exotic character. Flamboyant and potent to the core, the Reserve clearly needs time to be at its best. There is plenty to look forward to, that much is obvious. Antonio Galloni. |

JD 98 (1/2020): Starting with the two 2016s and another tremendous wine from this estate, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve comes 67% from Napa Valley and 33% from Sonoma County. Based on 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot, it's ruby/purple hue is followed by a classic Pride Cabernet offering notes of blackcurrants, lead pencil, espresso, camphor, new saddle leather, and spicy oak. Beautifully concentrated, full-bodied, and with ripe tannins, it has nothing out of place, offers a multi-dimensional, layered texture, and builds incrementally on the palate, with flawless balance. It shows the more nuanced, classical style of the 2016 vintage and will cruise in cool cellars for two decades. |

VM 95 (1/2022): Pride's flagship 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is going to need a number of years to come around. Black cherry, plum, spice, new leather, licorice, lavender and mocha all open with a bit of time. This deceptively mid-weight Cabernet packs plenty of mountain punch. The Reserve is not an obvious wine, especially in comparison with what these wines were like a few years ago. (Drink between 2025-2038). Antonio Galloni. JD 94+ (5/2022): Lastly, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve can be thought of as the top cuvée, and in 2018 it's 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot. Its deep purple hue is followed by a powerful, medium to full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon that builds beautifully in the glass, with ripe yet present tannins and integrated acidity all giving it an age-worthy feel. Classic crème de cassis, graphite, scorched earth, and tobacco all define the aromatics. The balance is spot on, but like many 2018s, the cellar is going to be your friend. Do your best to hide bottles for 4-5 years, and it's going to drink brilliantly for two decades. (Drink between 2026-2047). |

JD 96 (1/2020): There are just over 500 cases of the 2016 Reserve Claret, a more Merlot-dominated blend that includes 31% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Petit Verdot. It's similarly hued to the Reserve Cabernet and has a terrific perfume of blackcurrants, black cherries, ground herbs, and black tea as well as a whiff of dark chocolate and new saddle leather. This beauty offers a stunning array of full-bodied richness and depth, building yet ripe tannins, notable purity, and a sense of power without heaviness. It is a fabulously complex Bordeaux blend from Napa/Sonoma that will continue drinking beautifully for another 20 years. (Drink between 2020-2040). WA 95+ (9/2019): The 2016 Claret Reserve is made up of 68% Merlot, 31% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Petit Verdot, aged in roughly 50% new oak, with 54% of the fruit from Napa County and 46% from Sonoma County. Deep garnet-purple colored, it slowly builds on the nose from a foundation of warm cassis, red and black plums, mulberries and fresh blackberries into fragrant potpourri, oolong tea, bouquet garni and forest floor notes with wafts of tapenade and truffles. Full-bodied, the palate is completely filled with bold, expressive black fruits and earthy nuances, framed by firm, ripe, rounded tannins and finishing with great length and depth. VM 92 (1/2020): The 2016 Claret Reserve is plush, rich and enveloping. Dark cherry, plum, chocolate, new leather, licorice, spice and rose petal all flesh out in this supple, racy Merlot-based cuvée. Like the straight Merlot, this is a relatively soft and open-knit wine; I would like to see more depth and structure here. (Drink between 2021-2031). Antonio Galloni. |

|
JD 95 (5/2022): The 2018 Reserve Claret is based on 56% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 3% Petit Verdot, and there are a tiny 610 cases produced. It's a beautiful, impeccably balanced 2018 that shows the vintage's straighter, more elegant style on the palate, and it's medium to full-bodied and has solid acidity as well as tannins. Offering up plenty of red and almost blue fruits as well as floral and sappy herb aromatics, this beautifully textured, silky red blend will drink nicely for upwards of two decades. (Drink between 2022-2042). VM 95 (1/2022): The 2018 Claret Reserve is a blend of two-thirds Merlot and one-thirds Cabernet Sauvignon. Bright floral accents give the 2018 its energetic, vibrant feel. It is a perfect example of the Pride style today - a style that increasingly balances fruit richness with bright acids and plenty of drive. The 2019 is absolutely exquisite. (Drink between 2024-2035). Antonio Galloni. |
