VM 92 (5/2022): The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon shows the ripe fruit profile of a late harvest with the energy tension and savoriness of a cool year. Still quite fresh, the 2011 will drink well for another 5-10 years. Black plum, sage, mint, tobacco and incense linger. There is a bit of brett, but not to the point of dominating the wine's balance. In 2011, all the fruit was from Meteor. |

WA 90+ (12/2016): The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, which comes from Coombsville, is a blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. A classic, cool-climate Cabernet Sauvignon with plenty of minerality, spice box, underbrush, forest floor and earth with red and blackcurrants in the background. The wine is medium to full-bodied and tightly knit compared to the other Ariettas and therefore should be cellared for several more years and drunk over the following 15-20. As much coaxing as I gave this wine, it remained somewhat reticent, but promising. |

JD 95 (1/2020): From the Meteor site in Coombsville and blended with 3% Petit Verdot, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon offers a vibrant, cool climate styled bouquet of black raspberries, crushed mint, and toasted spice. Full-bodied, ripe, and textured, it has a wonderful sense of freshness and purity. |

VM 96 (5/2017): The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon 88 Keys is one of the finest wines I have tasted from Arietta. The 88 Keys is often dark and plush, but the 2012 has an extra element of aromatic lift that plays off the fruit richness nicely. Raspberry, red cherry, pomegranate and a host of floral/spiced notes give the wine its distinctive lifted, aromatically intense personality. The 2012 handled 32 months in barrel effortlessly. Moreover, the wine shows far better than it did a year previously. Antonio Galloni. |

VM 94 (5/2018): Mocha, chocolate, plum, blackberry jam, black cherry and leather infuse Arietta's 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon 88 Keys. Plush and textured, the 2014 exudes depth in a racy, voluptuous style with soft contours and tons of fruit. At times, the 2014 is a touch alcoholic, but the wine has also just been bottled. If experience has taught me anything, it is that the Arietta wines almost always need quite a bit of time post-bottling to show at their best. Antonio Galloni. |

VM 91 (5/2024): The 2013 H Block Hudson Vineyards has arrived at a plateau of maturity. Worn-in leather, tobacco, spice, dried herbs and mocha are all nicely delineated. H Block Hudson Vyd. Proprietary Blend |
$109 |

WA 94+ (12/2016): The most expensive wine in the portfolio is the 2014 Proprietary Red H Block, a blend of 68% Cabernet Franc and 32% Merlot from the Hudson Vineyard in Los Carneros. A young, promising and youthful wine – elegance and power are combined in a deep ruby/purple wine with notes of forest floor, white flowers, blueberry, raspberry and firm tannin, but it is well-integrated and the wine medium to full-bodied with an almost ethereal delicacy when it moves across the palate. This is a beauty, still young and relatively unevolved, but promises to be sensational with another 3-5 years of bottle age and should keep for 20-25 years at the minimum. |

VM 95 (1/2018): Arietta's 2015 H Block Hudson Vineyards, 75% Cabernet Franc and 25% Merlot co-fermented, is another gorgeous wine from Arietta in this vintage. Resonant, open-knit and seductive, the 2015 has much to offer. I would prefer to give the 2015 at least a few years in bottle to allow the aromatics to open up a bit more. Even so, the 2015 is pretty special today. Antonio Galloni. |

VM 95 (1/2021): The 2018 Red Blend H Block is a blend of 56% Cabernet Franc and 44% Merlot, co-fermented. Like all of the wines from Hudson, the H Block possesses striking aromatic complexity to match its mid-weight personality. Dried cherry, herbs, iron, tobacco and smoke are some of the many aromas and flavors that grace this wonderfully expressive red wine. Bright acids and clean, minerally notes frame this exquisite red from Arietta. Antonio Galloni. |

Matriarch Proprietary Blend |
$245 |
4 |
WA 95 (10/2016): The 2013 Matriarch, which may well be the finest Matriarch made to date, could easily stand on its own as a single-vineyard offering. Made from the odds and ends of the single-vineyard wines, nevertheless this is pretty great wine, and I joked with the winemaking team that maybe their selection process was too draconian. Dense purple, with notes of mulberry, blackberry, chocolate, cocoa and espresso, the wine is dense, full-bodied, opulent, and a total hedonistic turn-on. Drink it over the next 20-25 years. |

2012 |
Pluribus Proprietary Blend |
$400 |
1 |
JS 98 (7/2015): This is so muscular and juicy with fascinating aromas of hot asphalt, tea leaf, autumn leaf, fresh leather and dark fruits. It’s full-bodied and strong yet pure and handsome. Manly. Great texture. Needs at least five to six years to soften. The best Pluribus ever? WA 95+ (10/2015): From a 7-acre parcel on Spring Mountain, the 2012 Pluribus Proprietary Red Wine exhibits the white flowers (acacia?), blueberry and black raspberry fruit that comes from this high elevation site. It is full-bodied but very tannic, backward, coiled and relatively tight, behaving in that sense more like a 2013 than a 2012. This wine is set for a long life of 30+ years. Forget it for another 4 or 5 years, then consume it over the following three decades. VM 95+ (10/2015): The 2012 Pluribus has softened considerably over the last year. White pepper, cranberry, chalk, blood orange and spices are some of the signatures. Precise and finely sculpted, the 2012 is all about finesse. There is plenty to like here. Antonio Galloni. WS 92 (11/2015): Notes of gravelly earth, graphite and riverbed pebbles give this a distinctive, stony mouthfeel. Ends chewy, with mocha, dark berry, plum, road tar and espresso flavors. Should improve with short-term cellaring. To be released spring 2016. Best from 2017 through 2030. 570 cases made. |

Pluribus Proprietary Blend |
$500 |

JD 98 (12/2017): The gem of the 2014s is the 2014 Pluribus which comes from a 7-acre site on Spring Mountain. This incredible wine offers a full-bodied, seamless, perfectly balanced profile as well as heavenly notes of black and blue fruits, white chocolate, licorice. With a world class texture, fine, fine tannin, and a great finish, it’s a tour de force in Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that’s as good as anything out there. WA 97+ (10/2017): Very deep purple-black colored, the 2014 Pluribus offers up notions of crushed black plums, black currant cordial and pencil shavings over a meaty core of chargrill and beef drippings plus hints of Chinese five spice and underbrush. Full-bodied and firmly framed with chewy tannins and a lively backbone, it features plenty of earthy and savory layers, finishing long and minerally. VM 97 (11/2017): The 2014 Pluribus is super-refined, sexy and polished. Bright floral notes, blueberry jam, spice, mint and lavender abound in this striking, beautifully delineated Cabernet Sauvignon from Bond. All the elements fall into place effortlessly. The 2014 is an exceptional wine of sublime, enthralling beauty. Antonio Galloni. |

2012 |
Quella Proprietary Blend |
$425 |
1 |
WA 98 (10/2015): The 2012 Quella (from a steep 9-acre vineyard in the eastern Vaca hillsides) has an opaque purple color, a gorgeous nose of white flowers, sweet blackberry and cassis fruit, and a touch of vanilla and graphite. Full-bodied, like its siblings, with great fruit extract, terrific purity and richness, and high but velvety tannins, this wine should also benefit from another 3-5 years of cellaring and keep for 30+ years. JS 97 (7/2015): Lots of hot stone and slate on the nose with flowers. Dark berries too. Full body, dense mouthfeel. It lasts a long time with a salty, pomace undertone. Tight and muscular. Better in 2018. VM 94 (10/2015): The 2012 Quella has put on considerable weight over the last year. Dark cherry, plum, hard candy, mint, dark spices and new leather all blossom in the glass. The 2012 is ample and broad on the palate, with superb presence, but perhaps a touch less in the way of finesse relative to the best wines in this range. Today the Quella feels a bit heavy. Antonio Galloni. WS 89 (11/2015): Bold and ripe, with a touch of dark berry jam, this is structured by dusty gravel nuances and earth-laced tannins. A mishmash of very ripe, intense flavors, but the raw, edgy tannins have a green, stemmy quality. Drink now through 2023. 515 cases made. |

Quella Proprietary Blend |
$425 |

VM 96+ (3/2018): The 2014 Quella is showing beautifully. Floral and savory overtones give the wine its energy and tension. The 2014 has really come along over the last six months. Today it is vibrant and full of life, with an understated sense of power that is compelling. The 2014 has developed very nicely since I last tasted it, but it still has room to grow. Antonio Galloni. WA 96 (10/2017): Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Quella is scented of blackberry preserves, fruitcake and crushed rocks with hints of cigar box, dried Provence herbs and Indian spices. Medium to full-bodied, it has a firm backbone of grainy tannins and great freshness lifting the black fruit and earth layers, finishing on a lingering mineral note. JD 95 (12/2017): The 2014 Quella is one of the most aromatic and complex in the lineup. Coming from more seabed and volcanic soils (similar to the Melbury) and sporting a deep purple color and lifted notes of spice cake, black cherries, blueberries, violets and iron-like minerality, this beauty is medium to full-bodied, elegant, has bright acidity, and a great finish. Drink it anytime over the coming 20+ years. |

2012 |
St. Eden Proprietary Blend |
$400 |
1 |
WA 98 (10/2015): From an 11-acre vineyard just north of the Oakville corridor, the 2012 St. Eden shows gorgeous, cedary Christmas fruitcake notes, black cherry and blackcurrant fruit, spice box, earth, and almost first growth Pauillac-like cassis and lead pencil shavings. Deep, full-bodied, and fabulously concentrated, this stunner flirts with perfection. Slightly more evolved than the Quella or Melbury, this wine may be the most drinkable out of the gate of all the Bond offerings in 2012. It should continue to evolve for at least 30+ years. JS 97 (7/2015): Beautiful fruit definition with blackberries, blueberries, chocolate and burnt orange character. Full body and round, fine powder texture plus dusty, velvety tannins. Long and gorgeous finish. VM 95 (10/2015): The 2012 St. Eden is totally seamless and polished in the glass. Silky tannins add to an overall impression of total voluptuousness. The 2012 isn't quite as expressive as the very best years, but it is a gorgeous wine that won't require more than a few years in bottle to be at its best. Dark, smoky and scorched flavors meld into the powerful finish. WS 93 (11/2015): Pure and graceful, with ripe, delicate red and dark berry flavors, light floral aromas and subtle oak nuances. An easy-drinking style, this is moderately tannic and should be ready to drink now or age short-term. To be released spring 2016. Drink now through 2026. 747 cases made. |

2011 |
Vecina Proprietary Blend |
$325 |
3 |
VM 95 (12/2014): One of the more voluptuous, ample wines in this series, the 2011 Vecina is endowed with a real sense of class. Dark red and black fruit, smoke, new leather and licorice blossom in a surprisingly rich, powerful wine for the year. This super-expressive, resonant Cabernet Sauvignon hits all the right notes. Hints of sweet tobacco, licorice and menthol add the final notes of complexity. WA 94 (10/2014): The 2011 Vecina Proprietary Red Blend possesses Pauillac-like notes of scorched earth, new saddle leather, spice box, vanillin and blackcurrants. With great fruit, stunning depth and a distinctive earthiness, this open-knit, opulent, juicy, fleshy 2011 should drink well for 15-20 years. JS 94 (5/2014): A solid wine with terracotta, hazelnut, cocoa-powder and berry character. Medium to full body with velvety tannins. Some austerity. Needs a year or two to soften. VM 92+ (5/2014): Deep ruby color. Highly aromatic nose offers blackberry, medicinal black cherry and licorice. Densely packed and bright but brooding and closed in on itself; this is the 2011 Bond wine that's most affected today by the bottling. (Winemaker Corey Empting says it has totally shut down.) Finishes juicy and very long if a bit spiky today. Very hard to judge at present but based on a barrel sample I tried a year ago, it's hard to believe that this wine won't eventually merit a higher score. |

Vecina Proprietary Blend |
$425 |

WA 98+ (10/2017): The 2014 Vecina displays a deep garnet-purple color and has a broody, baked blueberries, cassis and anise-laced nose with suggestions of garrigue, dusty earth and bay leaves. Full-bodied, rich, spicy and powerful in the mouth, it offers a lot of latent layers and promises great, great things to come with an incredibly long, layered finish. It needs a bit of time but should cellar beautifully for a good 25 years+. JD 97 (12/2017): Another awesome wine is the 2014 Vecina and it’s from a vineyard on the western side of the valley, right up next to Harlan Estate. This deep, full-bodied, seriously concentrated 2014 gives up loads of plums, currants, toasty oak, chocolate, and chalky minerality. It picks up a touch of violets with time in the glass, but the theme here is deep, dark fruit and minerality. With the forward, supple style of the vintage, it still has serious concentration and structure, and is going to be long-lived. VM 97 (3/2018): One of the most expressive wines in this range, the 2014 Vecina is powerful, dense and explosive. Despite its obvious intensity, the 2014 has quite a bit of detail and nuance. Time in the glass unleashes the wine's natural intensity, volume and power. The huge, savory and mineral-drenched finish only adds to the wine's immeasurable beauty. Antonio Galloni. |

WS 88 (7/2017): Manages to balance two strong impressions, that of chewy, extracted dark berry flavors and accompanying tannins, resulting in a dusty, dry and savory mix that's years from cresting. Best from 2020 through 2033. 9,500 cases made. |

Cuvee Moriah Proprietary Blend |
$59 |
2 |
VM 94 (3/2017): The 2014 Cuvée Moriah is a bit different in this vintage in that there is no Syrah in the blend. As a result, the 2014 is mostly Grenache with about 16% Mourvedre. Not surprisingly, the Grenache is especially expressive. Succulent red berry, tobacco, dried herbs and anise are all nicely pushed forward, while silky tannins add to an impression of total finesse. Pliant yet also medium in body, the 2014 possesses exceptional balance and class. The 50-60% whole clusters are not especially evident, as they are very well integrated into the overall fabric. Antonio Galloni. |

JD 92 (10/2018): The 2016 Syrah Ballard Canyon comes all from the Stolpman Vineyard in Ballard Canyon and was brought up in 25% new French oak. It's deep ruby/purple-tinged color is followed by a lively bouquet of black raspberries, spring flowers, California bay leaf, and white pepper. Like everything here, it's seamless and elegant, with a borderline mid-weight style, yet is about as drinkable as it gets. |

$30 |

JD 92 (8/2023): The 2020 Syrah Estate is more successful, with ripe mulberry and darker (almost blue) berry fruits as well as peppery herbs, violets, leather, and underbrush nuances. It's incredibly elegant and medium-bodied, with fine tannins and outstanding length. It reminds me of a classy Saint Joseph and is going to evolve for 10-12 years with no issues. It's a beautiful, classy, downright pretty Syrah. |

2019 |
Santa Ynez Valley Syrah |
$30 |
2 |
VM 90 (8/2024): The 2019 Syrah (Santa Ynez Valley) is a blend of Estella clone Syrah from the estate and Stolpman. It is the one wine in this range that is a touch forward and overt. Then again, this is a five-year-old appellation wine. Succulent dark cherry, plum, licorice, spice and a hint of mocha give this racy Syrah tons of immediacy. Antonio Galloni. |

The Maiden Proprietary Blend |
$239 |
2 |
VM 93 (10/2015): The 2012 The Maiden is super-refined, polished and expressive. Crushed flowers, sweet red berries, mint, pine and cinnamon are some of the signatures. Open-knit and medium in body, the Maiden is racy and super-polished to the core. It is feminine, lifted in style and well-suited to near-term drinking. Antonio Galloni. WA 92 (10/2015): The 2012 The Maiden displays soft blackcurrant liqueur notes, as well as cedar wood, forest floor, underbrush, and hints of white chocolate and espresso. It is broad, savory, sexy and opulent. Drink it over the next 12-15+ years. |

2011 |
Cabernet Sauvignon |
$150 |
2 |
VM 92 (11/2014): (15% alcohol; blended with 10% merlot; from 30+-year-old vines on Atlas Peak): Full red-ruby. Complex, expressive aromas of cassis, black raspberry, licorice, shoe polish, fresh herbs and leather. Not as deep as the best recent vintages of this wine but supple and nuanced, with plum and dark berry flavors complicated by bitter chocolate and spices. Nothing weedy about this 2011. Finishes juicy and firmly tannic, with lingering flavors of black fruits and minerals. I'd give this three or four years in the bottle to absorb some of its tannins. This cabernet was harvested on November 2! WA 89-91 (10/2013): The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa is much more compact and linear without the intensity of the 2012, but still a very good effort for the vintage. |

2012 |
Cabernet Sauvignon |
$175 |

WA 95 (10/2014): Aged in Darnajou barrels, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is filled with lavish, extroverted scents of sweet vanillin, lead pencil shavings, blackberries, blackcurrants, licorice and camphor. This gorgeous effort is very much in keeping with this showy, ostentatious vintage. Drink now through 2030. WS 95 (11/2015): A gorgeous young Cabernet that is rich, plush, layered and persistent, with a mix of blackberry, currant, licorice, red candy and light cedary oak. The expressive finish sails on, revealing greater depth and persistence, complemented by firm, gripping tannins. Drink now through 2030. 180 cases made. VM 94 (12/2014): Rich, sumptuous and beautifully textured in the glass, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is a terrific example of the year. Dark red cherry, cinnamon, cedar and tobacco open up in the glass, but the 2012 is above all else a wine of pure texture. The 2012 finishes with notable intensity and power, but next to the 2013...well, let's just say the younger vintage is on a different level, at least today. |

2013 |
Cabernet Sauvignon |
$195 |
2 |
VM 95 (5/2024): The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is in a gorgeous spot today, wherein the tannins have softened while the aromatics are pretty open. Sweet dried cherry, cedar, sweet pipe tobacco, blood orange, mint and rose petals lend notable aromatic presence. This was a much bigger Cabernet when it was young, but it has matured into a bit of a lighter wine than I had originally anticipated. At age ten, it is one of the more understated wines of the vintages. Overall, the 2013 is ready to go. With a bit of air, it is gorgeous. Antonio Galloni. |

VM 96 (12/2016): The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is just as remarkable from bottle as it was from barrel. Intensely aromatic and nuanced, the 2014 also packs a serious punch of fruit intensity. Beams of tannin add to the wine's energy and pure drive. Here, too, the Cabernet Franc is quite expressive, especially in the wine's bouquet. Antonio Galloni. |

Fimasaurus Proprietary Blend |
$195 |
1 |
VM 94 (1/2018): The 2015 The Fimasaurus is plump, juicy and delicious, all qualities that make it easy to drink young. Soft, polished tannins give this Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon blend much of its allure. The intensity of the drought is evident, but at the same time, the Fimasaurus is much more accessible and pliant at this stage than Kongsgaard's Cabernet Sauvignon. Black cherry, mocha, plum, new leather and spice add nuance to the fleshy, voluptuous finish. Best of all, the 2015 will drink well with minimal cellaring. Fimasaurus is 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon that are fermented together. Antonio Galloni. |

Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vyd. Cabernet Sauvignon |
$195 |
1 |
WA 98 (10/2014): Of the three Beckstoffer Vineyards, it’s pretty much a joyride as to which one readers may prefer. The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane moves more toward the wet rock, blueberry, raspberry fruit spectrum, but still stays dark and foreboding, very concentrated and full-bodied. The great terroir comes through and the wine is distinctive, singular, opulent and rich. Another fabulous success from Paul Hobbs and one more showcase wine for this great vineyard. Anticipated maturity: now-2032. JS 94 (7/2015): Aromas of ripe blueberry, blackberry and mineral. Black currants too. Full body, silky tannins and bright acidity. Very intense and linear with loads of fruit that are held together with a solid tannin backbone. Better in 2017. VM 93 (10/2015): The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard is dark, plump and juicy, with plenty of near and medium term appeal. Silky, soft and open-knit, the 2012 Dr. Crane is a good example of the year. Drink this supple, juicy Cabernet Sauvignon over the next handful of years. In 2012, the 100% new French oak is evident, one of the clues the vintage is slightly lacking in concentration. Antonio Galloni. WS 92 (8/2016): Though tannic at points, this is notably complex and refined in texture and aromas, with a subtle mix of currant, anise, dried berry, cedary oak, tobacco and cigar box on the aftertaste. Drink now through 2028. 1,016 cases made. |

This is sensational wine that clearly eclipses its sibling. Sadly, only 350 cases were made. Drink now-2030. |

WA 89 (5/2018): Another Cabernet Sauvignon cuvée, also from the Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara, the 2015 La Passion du Diable reveals classy aromas of crushed currants and tobacco leaf, framed by new oak. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, with a good core of fruit underpinned by nice balancing acids, but it turns a bit compact and austere on the finish. It's an attractive wine, but I wouldn't mind seeing a lighter touch with extraction and oak tannin. |
