| VM 92 (4/2018): Vivid purple. A deeply perfumed bouquet evokes fresh black and blue fruits, olive, pipe tobacco and cracked pepper, backed by a smoky nuance. Spicy and penetrating on the palate, offering intense cassis and boysenberry flavors and a touch of star anise. Supple tannins gently frame a very long, penetrating finish that leaves spice-tinged dark fruit and bitter chocolate notes behind. Josh Raynolds. |

| VM 91 (4/2016): Opaque ruby. Smoky, perfumed scents of fresh dark berries, violet and allspice are joined by a lively mineral nuance that builds in the glass. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering energetic black and blue fruit flavors and a deeper licorice nuance that gains power with air. | VM 93 (4/2018): Bright violet. Heady, smoke- and spice-tinged blueberry, cherry liqueur and violet aromas show excellent clarity and pick up olive and smoky bacon notes with aeration. Sweet and energetic on the palate, offering deeply concentrated black and blue fruit and floral pastille flavors plus a suggestion of fine-spice powder. The impressively long, sappy finish features bright mineral cut, an echo of juicy blue fruit and velvety tannins that sneak up slowly. Josh Raynolds. |
