| BH 86-88 (1/2019): The fruit profile is the similar though with much more earth influence that can also be found on the slightly more concentrated if still relatively light flavors that offer a bit more depth and persistence on the mildly rustic finale. This should drink well early. |

VM 94 (4/1998): Deep red-ruby. Reticent but very ripe aromas of red and black fruits, licorice, truffle and smoke. Fat, suave and multilayered; less immediately sweet than the huge Clos Vougeot but more refined. A complete wine, with an uncanny harmony of components. Finishes with extremely fine tannins that coat the entire mouth. Totally different in shape from the Clos Vougeot: some tasters may prefer that wine for its sheer size and sweetness, but this is superb Richebourg.
WA 92-94 (6/1997): Just as dark as the Clos Vougeot, but even more prodigiously concentrated, the Richebourg is among the blackest and inkiest (both in color and taste) Pinot Noirs I have tasted. Exhibiting sweet Asian spices and grilled black fruits on the nose, this behemoth is a rich, chewy, rugged, silky-textured wine packed with super-ripe, highly-concentrated ripe berries. Possessing impressive depth and structure, this wine may well deserve a higher rating when it has had time to soften out. Drink 2005-2015+.
BH 93 (10/2001): While this also shows more than a hint of new wood, there is so much weight and density here that the 95 Richebourg seems to carry the wood effortlessly. Massive aromas of earth, spice, leather and dark berries merge with big, rich yet refined flavors of extraordinary length. Despite the intensity and massive character of both the fruit and flavors, the wine displays impeccable balance. Outstanding potential here and this should enjoy a long and graceful evolution. If the wine continues to add complexity, my score will seem conservative. Drink 2010+. |

| VM 93.5 (3/2017): Bright medium red Perfumed scents of black raspberry and espresso are complicated by soil-driven smoke and crushed-rock notes The richest and most tactile of these young 2014s but also with great finesse to the flavors of red berries, rose petal, saline minerality and pepper The wine's tannins are serious and deep but not hard This true-to-its-terroir beauty really saturates the palate under a wave of flavor. | BH 91-93 (1/2020): The airy and overtly spicy nose reflects an abundance of floral influences on the red and dark currant aromas. The mid-palate of the big-bodied flavors is surprisingly supple, even succulent, though this impression contrasts with the firm, serious and robust finish where the tannins are again slightly raspy and mildly drying. As is the case with several wines in the range, my projected rating accords the benefit of the doubt this will eventually harmonize. Drink 2033+. |
