WA 87 (1/1997): Fieuzal's 1989 exhibits a deep ruby/purple color with some lightening at the edge. This lavishly-oaked wine displays copious quantities of toasty new oak as well as earth/herb-tinged red and black currant fruit in its moderately intense bouquet. On the palate, the wine reveals medium body, low acidity, and elevated tannin in the finish. It is a more compact, leaner style of wine than its slightly sweeter, fleshier sibling, the 1990. Anticipated maturity: 1999-2010. |

WA 94 (6/2015): Probably the best Fieuzal I have tasted in many a year, the 2005 has a dense purple color and a gorgeous nose of charcoal, graphite, blackcurrants, cherries and earth. It is medium to full-bodied and very rich, with ripe tannin and a multidimensional mouthfeel. This is a superb wine and a great success for the château. Drink it over the next 25+ years. NM 91 (1/2009): Tasted single blind at Southwold. This has a very succulent, slightly prune-tinged nose with baked cherries. Nice gravelly scent underneath. A dense ripe palate, grainy texture, good acidity, firm and meaty with a lovely bright earthy finish. Good length. This is a superb de Fieuzal that has developed wonderfully since barrel. Drink 2010-2022. WS 90 (3/2008): Earthy and meaty on the nose, with lots of ripe fruit. Full-bodied, soft and round. There's loads of Pessac character, with hints of vanilla and coffee. A decadent style. Best after 2011. 8,000 cases made. VM 88 (5/2008): Good dark red. Roasted plum and beefsteak tomato; showing the exotically ripe side of the vintage. Fat, lush and sweet, with flavors similar to the aromas. Plenty of mocha and nuts from the oak, as well as some slightly drying wood tannins on the finish. Rich but a bit lacking in energy, and probably best suited for drinking in the near to medium term. Stephen Tanzer. |

NM 92 (3/2014): Tasted blind at the Southwold Bordeaux 2010 tasting. This is a strong showing from de Fieuzal. It has a pretty bouquet with perfumed floral red berry fruit and nicely integrated oak - natural but not short-changing you in flavour. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, pointed acidity, dusky black fruit with a linear, but quite classy finish. This is a very competent de Fieuzal that should age with style. WS 92 (3/2013): A sleek, ripe, driven wine, with raspberry, black currant and pastis-soaked plum notes at the core, lined with well-embedded toast, ganache and tobacco hints. The finely beaded acidity stitches this up nicely on the lengthy finish. Best from 2015 through 2030. VM 91 (8/2013): Good deep ruby-red. Dark berries and spicy, cedary oak dominate the nose. Supple and broad but a bit less creamy in the early going than is normal for this wine. Sexy, soil-driven flavors of plum, tobacco, cigar box and spices show good energy. Firm tannins clamp down on the finish without introducing any dryness. A rather classically styled Fieuzal with good mid-term aging potential. WA 90 (2/2013): A more tannic, backward style of Pessac-Leognan, this wine has attractive, elegant notes of sweet plum, fig, tobacco leaf and red and black currants. It is medium-bodied, elegant, rich and persistent on the palate. The tannins are still relatively elevated and the wine in need of 4-6 years of cellaring. It should keep for at least two decades or more. |

WS 90 (3/2015): Rather dark in profile, with pastis-soaked black currant and blackberry fruit at the core, studded with warm fruitcake and ganache notes. The bramble-edged finish lets the slightly exotic display of fruit maintain the upper hand. Best from 2016 through 2022. 6,500 cases made. JS 89 (2/2015): A fine and fresh wine with bright fruit and flowers, a medium body and an earthy, spicy finish. Minerally and crisp. Slightly lacks a mid-palate. Drink or hold. VM 87-90 (5/2013): Medium-deep ruby. Musky aromas of raspberry, blackcurrant and earth lifted by floral and vanilla elements. Sweet, supple and very ripe, this big, strapping wine offers rich, saline flavors of creamy dark fruits and smoky minerals. Finishes suave and stylish, with noteworthy length; harmonious acids really extend the flavors at the back. A superb Fieuzal made from obviously ripe fruit. Ian d'Agata. WA 89+ (4/2015): Loads of ripe fruit are present in this wine, but I was surprised by what appeared to be a lack of complexity and nuance. It is certainly chunky, has a dense ruby/purple color and the concentration is adequate. The wine showed blue, red and black fruits, spice, and earth, but is not showing the nuances and complexity I would have expected. Drink it over the next 15 years. NM 88-90 (4/2013): Tasted from a barrel sample at en primeur. The de Fieuzal Rouge has a succulent bouquet of blackberry, cassis and vanilla that is modern, well defined and showy. The palate is medium-bodied with a black coffee infused entry. The acidity is crisp and there is decent fruit concentration, but the finish is a little too oaky at the moment. Let us see how it melds during elevage. |

WA 90 (2/2018): Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 De Fieuzal is scented of lovely ripe plums and crushed red currants with touches of forest floor and bay leaves. Medium-bodied, firm and grainy with great freshness cutting through the earthy layers, it finishes long. |

JS 94 (1/2019): Very intense red-plum and dark-fleshed peach aromas, plus a hint of pomegranate, make this generous, well-structured Pessac-Leognan red very attractive. However, the full, moderately dry tannins need some time to resolve. Better from 2021, but with a long future ahead of it. |
